KAT (Knife Ability Test) Guide 2026: Tips, Game Passes, Strategies & Free Robux
KAT (Knife Ability Test) is back — but it is a much smaller game than it was, and most of what is written about it online is wrong. Fierzaa's knife-and-gun deathmatch went under Roblox review on August 1, 2025 and returned on March 19, 2026 with saved progress intact. This guide gives you the correct place ID, the real currency (gems, not coins), the eleven knife powers that are the actual progression system, and every game pass at the price the Roblox API returns today.

What Is KAT (Knife Ability Test)?
KAT stands for Knife Ability Test. It is a player-versus-player deathmatch on Roblox created by Fierzaa (Roblox user 85382088), published January 21, 2017. The one thing to get right before anything else is the address: the game lives at place ID 621129760 — roblox.com/games/621129760/KAT, universe 254394801. Place ID 4592931260, which this page used to cite and which still ranks for the search "KAT Knife Ability Test", is a different 2020 game by the user JustXua with 301,872 lifetime visits and nobody in it. Both resolve, so nothing errors when you follow the wrong one; you simply land in an empty clone.
The premise is a free-for-all, not a hunt. Every player is armed: a knife as the primary weapon and a gun as the secondary. The default knife is charged by holding the attack input and released as an arcing projectile that deals 100 damage — an instant kill on a clean hit. Guns fire hitscan bullets and are the long-range option. You kill assigned targets and other players to earn gems, which are the currency; the game also supports player-to-player trading, which is a large part of why its cosmetics have any value.
There are three modes. Classic is a timed free-for-all of roughly 13 minutes where you use knife and gun on everyone else. Elimination is the same but you get one life. Murder is the mode that resembles Murder Mystery 2 — innocents, a sheriff and a murderer — and it is one mode of three, not the shape of the whole game. That distinction matters: guides that describe KAT as "one player gets the knife, everyone else runs" have collapsed the whole game into its third mode.
KAT borrows openly from Mad Games, including its knives, guns and map styles. It sits alongside Blade Ball in the skill-based PvP niche, but the charge-and-arc knife throw gives it a genuinely mechanical skill ceiling that reactive games do not have.
How KAT Works: Core Gameplay in 2026
KAT is a mode-based game, so "the round structure" depends on which mode the server is running. Servers cap at 22 players and Roblox files the game under Battlegrounds & Fighting (it was previously filed under Fighting).
The Three Modes
- Classic — a timed free-for-all of roughly 13 minutes. Everyone spawns with a knife and a gun and kills everyone else. This is the default mode and the one you will spend most of your time in.
- Elimination — identical to Classic, except you have a single life. One clean knife hit ends your round, so the risk calculus on every approach changes completely.
- Murder — the asymmetric mode: innocents and a sheriff against a murderer. Innocents work with the sheriff to identify the murderer; the murderer kills everyone while avoiding the sheriff's gun. This is the only mode where players are not all equally armed.
The Gem Economy
The currency is gems, not coins. Gems come from kills, and the rate depends on which knife power you have equipped — which is the single most-missed detail about this game's economy. With the Ghost Knife or Explosive Knife power equipped, a knife kill pays 2 gems. With Laser or Noscope, a knife kill pays 1 gem. With Deathbeam equipped, knife kills pay nothing at all. Gun kills pay 1 gem in Classic and free-for-all modes regardless of power.
So the powers are not a straight upgrade ladder. The strongest-looking power in the game, Deathbeam, zeroes your knife income while it is equipped — you buy it with gems and then it stops earning them. If you are still saving toward Hyperbeam at 15,000 gems, the correct loadout is a weaker power that still pays two gems a kill.
Winning Strategies & Advanced Tips for 2026
KAT rewards players who understand both the mechanical and psychological sides of PvP combat. The advice below is built on the two mechanics the sources actually confirm — the knife is a charged, arcing projectile that one-shots at 100 damage, and the gun is hitscan — so treat it as reasoning from those, not as tested per-map data.
Winning the Knife Duel
Master the arc. The single most important skill in KAT is understanding knife trajectory. When you throw a knife, it does not travel in a straight line. It follows a parabolic arc, dropping slightly over distance. For targets within 15 to 20 studs, aim directly at them. For targets 30 studs or more away, aim slightly above their head to compensate for the drop. This difference between hitting and missing at range separates average players from dominant ones.
Predict movement, do not chase the cursor. New players throw the knife at where the opponent is. Experienced players throw it at where the opponent will be. Watch an opponent for a second or two before releasing the charge. Most players run in predictable patterns, especially when panicking. Throw to intercept their path rather than targeting their current position — and remember the throw is a one-shot kill, so a single correct read ends the exchange.
Switch to the gun when the arc works against you. The knife is a charged projectile: you hold to charge, release to throw, and it travels on an arc. That is superb at mid range and clumsy at knife-fighting distance, where the charge time is simply time your opponent uses to kill you first. The gun is hitscan — it lands where you point it, instantly — and it still pays a gem per kill in Classic. Knowing which of your two weapons the current distance favours is most of the skill in this game.
Wall-bouncing for trickshots. Advanced players use the environment to their advantage. Certain maps have walls and obstacles that can redirect your throwing angle. While wall-bouncing is difficult to master, it lets you hit runners hiding behind cover. Practice this in custom servers before trying it in public lobbies.
Staying Alive When You Are the One Being Aimed At
Never run in a straight line. This is the number one mistake players make when a knife is charging at them. A straight-line target is the easiest read in the game. Use diagonal movement, sharp direction changes, and unpredictable patterns. Zigzagging at irregular intervals makes it nearly impossible for the knife holder to predict your position.
Use obstacles constantly. Every KAT map has structures, walls, and objects you can put between yourself and whoever is aiming at you. Break line of sight as often as possible. When an opponent cannot see you, they cannot lead your movement — and because the knife is a slow arcing projectile rather than a hitscan shot, cover defeats it far more reliably than it defeats the gun.
Watch for the charge. The knife has to be charged before it is released, and that charge is your warning. When you see an opponent stop moving and turn toward you, change direction immediately — the wind-up is the fraction of a second the game gives you to react. Training yourself to recognise that wind-up and respond instantly is what separates a hard target from an easy one.
Distance cuts both ways. The farther you are, the more the arc affects an incoming throw and the more time you have to dodge — but distance is exactly where the hitscan gun is strongest, so maximum range is safe from the knife and not from the gun. Position yourself at the opposite end of the map whenever possible. Close the distance only if the terrain forces you to, or if you are baiting a charge before breaking behind cover.
General Game Sense
Learn the maps. KAT rotates through multiple arena layouts, several of them lifted from Mad Games. Each map has different cover positions, open lanes, and chokepoints. Players who memorize map layouts consistently outperform those who react on instinct alone. Pay attention to spawn locations, popular hiding spots, and the fastest routes between cover points.
Sound cues matter. Several knife powers are distinguished by sound as much as by sight — the wiki notes powers "make different noises" — so audio tells you what is being thrown at you. Playing with sound on (and with decent headphones) gives you information that is invisible to players relying on visuals alone. You can hear a throw you are not looking at, which is reaction time you would not otherwise have.
All KAT Game Passes & Robux Prices (2026)
KAT's universe holds 16 game passes, of which 10 are on sale. Below is every one you can actually buy, with the price the Roblox game-pass API returned on September 5, 2026 — paginated properly, so this is the complete list rather than the first page of it. Where the Roblox Wiki still quotes an older price, the API wins: prices change, wiki tables do not.
| Game Pass | Price (Robux) | What It Does |
|---|---|---|
| Dead Meme | 25 | Gives the 1OOO Degree Knife skin |
| Spray | 50 | Spray any decal onto walls using its Roblox asset ID |
| Radio | 60 | Unlocks the in-game radio, so you can play Roblox audio IDs in the match. Others can mute it |
| VIP | 95 | Coin cloud pet, Australium knife skin, VIP chat tag, chat emotes. No gem multiplier |
| Kill Effect Transfer | 120 | Your knife's kill effect also plays on your revolver |
| Shard Knives | 195 | All 5 Shard Knife skins plus the Rainbow Shard Knife |
| Shotgun Knife | 195 | Shotgun Knife power — throws several default knives in a spread. Not tradeable |
| MVP | 200 | MVP chat tag, animated chat emotes, and more gems for killing your assigned target |
| MLG Bundle | 350 | MLG Knife skin, Illuminati knife effect, and the Doge pet |
| Tesla Knife | 450 | Tesla power — a lingering electric trail that damages players who touch it. Not tradeable |
Which Game Pass Should You Buy First?
MVP at 200 Robux is the only pass that speeds up progression, because it pays extra gems when you kill your assigned target. If you buy one pass for progression rather than looks, buy that one.
VIP at 95 Robux is the cheapest pass people recommend, and it is worth being blunt about what it is: a pet, a knife skin, a chat tag and chat emotes. It carries no gem or coin multiplier. The "2x coin earnings" line that this page used to print, and that is repeated across several KAT guides, does not correspond to anything in the pass's description — and since the currency is gems, a "coin multiplier" was never the right shape of claim to begin with.
Of the rest, Shotgun Knife (195) and Tesla Knife (450) are the two that change how you play rather than how you look, because they replace your knife power outright. Spam Knife is not for sale. It was 9,001 Robux — an "over 9000" joke — and the API now returns it with no price and isForSale: false, alongside Rapid-Fire, XP Booster and the two SCAM passes. If a guide tells you to buy Spam Knife, it has not checked in a long time.
isForSale: false with no price. They still show up in third-party pass lists, which is how "buy the Spam Knife" survives in 2026 guides. There are also matching developer products — tradeable one-use tokens for MVP, VIP, Radio, Shards, Shotgun and Tesla — which is how these unlocks move between players.
Knife Powers, Kill Effects & Customization in 2026
The system that actually governs how you play is knife powers, not knife skins. There are eleven of them. A power changes how your thrown knife behaves — and, as covered above, how many gems a kill with it pays. It does not change your kill effect. Skins are separate and purely visual.
All Eleven Knife Powers
| Power | Cost | What it does | Gems per knife kill |
|---|---|---|---|
| Default | Free | Normal throw, small blast radius after a short delay on hitting a surface | — |
| Ghost Knife | Level 20 | Passes through walls; as slow and small as Default | 2 |
| Laser | Level 25 | Throws as a red laser, slightly slower than a gun shot | 1 |
| Explosive Knife | 100 gems | Default speed and size, but explodes after a short delay — instantly on hitting a player | 2 |
| Noscope | 1,000 gems | Like Laser but faster and larger, leaving a brief crosshair visible through walls | 1 |
| Deathbeam | 6,000 gems | Like Noscope, red, passes through walls and players, no crosshair | 0 |
| Hyperbeam | 15,000 gems | Deathbeam but rainbow, slightly bigger and faster than a gun shot | — |
| Teleport Knife | 200 Robux | If the throw misses every player, you teleport to where it landed | — |
| Shotgun Knife | 195 Robux (pass) | Throws several default knives in a spread. Not tradeable | — |
| Tesla | 450 Robux (pass) | Leaves a lingering line of electricity that damages anyone who touches it. Not tradeable | — |
| Spam Knife | Retired | Fire knives as fast as you can click. Was 9,001 Robux; the pass is no longer on sale | — |
Two of those rows are the reason people stall out. Explosive Knife at 100 gems is the best-value purchase in the game — it is the cheapest paid power and it keeps the 2-gems-per-kill rate, so it funds everything above it. Deathbeam at 6,000 gems pays zero, so equipping it stops your progress toward Hyperbeam dead. Buy Deathbeam if you want it, then swap back to Explosive when you want to earn.
The Robux costs in that table are the wiki's in-game figures, which is why Tesla reads 600 there and 450 on the pass. Where the two disagree, the price you pay is the API's.
Kill Effects
Kill effects are the visual flourish that plays when you eliminate another player, and they are attached to knives. The Kill Effect Transfer pass (120 Robux) does one specific thing that its name undersells: it makes your knife's kill effect play on your revolver as well. That is a straightforward tell that everyone in KAT carries a gun — there would be nothing to transfer the effect to otherwise.
Music ID Customization
The in-game radio is a paid unlock, not a default feature: it is the Radio game pass at 60 Robux (there is also a tradeable Radio Token developer product at 150 Robux). Once unlocked, you enter Roblox audio asset IDs to play music in the match, and other players can mute it. IDs go dead as Roblox moderates its audio library, so check the official KAT Discord — discord.gg/QxvdptB, 32,850 members on September 5, 2026, and confirmed official because the invite's creator is Fierzaa's own account.
KAT Codes & Music IDs in 2026
Fierzaa's KAT does not use traditional redeemable promo codes. There is no code redemption box in it, and rewards have historically come through in-game events and updates rather than a code system.
This is where nearly every "KAT codes" list on the internet goes wrong. The codes those lists print are real — they just belong to a different game: a 2025 recreation called "Knife Ability Test" published by the Murder Mystery Franchise group at place 111163066268338, which does have a level-50 redeem screen. That recreation states in its own description that inventories and progress are not transferred from the original and that it is neither affiliated nor partnered with it. As of September 5, 2026 that recreation is itself unplayable: its place ID answers a 302 to /Title-Unavailable, the same signature Roblox returns for a restricted experience.
The only "codes" in Fierzaa's KAT are Music ID numbers for the in-game radio, and you need the Radio pass before they do anything. These are standard Roblox audio asset IDs, not game-specific promo codes.
How Gems Are Actually Earned
Since there are no codes to shortcut the grind, gems are the whole economy, and they come from kills. A gun kill pays 1 gem in Classic and free-for-all modes. A knife kill pays 2 gems with Ghost Knife or Explosive Knife equipped, 1 gem with Laser or Noscope, and nothing with Deathbeam. The MVP pass pays extra gems for killing your assigned target.
We are deliberately not giving you a gems-per-hour figure. No source states one, the rate depends on your equipped power and the mode, and with roughly 150 players online worldwide your realistic kill rate depends mostly on whether a populated server exists at the hour you log in.

KAT vs. Similar Roblox PvP Games in 2026
KAT occupies a unique space in the Roblox PvP ecosystem. While several other games share elements of its design, none replicate the exact combination of physics-based knife throwing and last-player-standing rounds. Understanding where KAT fits helps you decide if it is the right game for your playstyle.
KAT vs. Murder Mystery 2
Murder Mystery 2 shares the "one player hunts others" format, but the gameplay loop is fundamentally different. In MM2, the murderer uses a knife in melee only, while an innocent player can pick up a gun to fight back. KAT removes the gun mechanic entirely and adds throwable knives, making it a purer test of movement and aim. MM2 also has a massive trading economy for knife skins, while KAT focuses on unlocking skins through gameplay rather than player-to-player trading.
KAT vs. Blade Ball
Blade Ball is another popular PvP game centered around a single projectile, but the core mechanic is deflection rather than throwing. In Blade Ball, a ball ricochets between players and you must time your deflections. In KAT, you are the one initiating the attack. Players who prefer offensive, aim-based gameplay gravitate toward KAT, while those who prefer reactive, timing-based gameplay tend to prefer Blade Ball.
KAT vs. Arsenal
Arsenal is a full FPS with weapon rotation mechanics similar to Gun Game from Call of Duty. It shares KAT's fast-paced PvP energy but plays very differently due to its first-person perspective and wide weapon variety. KAT's third-person camera and single-weapon focus create a completely different skill set. Many players enjoy both games and alternate between them for variety.
KAT's 2026 Return: What Changed After the Review
KAT was put under review on August 1, 2025 and made unplayable, after Fierzaa had been inactive for around five months. Roblox published no reason. On March 19, 2026 the game was re-released with its saved content restored. That is roughly seven and a half months offline.
The re-release preserved pre-removal content: knife skins, game passes, gem balances and player progress all came back. The player base did not. On September 5, 2026 — nearly six months after the return — KAT reads around 150 concurrent players. That is the number to plan around; it is not a game where a full 22-player Classic lobby is guaranteed at any hour you choose.
The game has not been republished since June 2, 2026. That is the last updated stamp Roblox returns for the universe, read September 5, 2026 — roughly three months of no content. The universe carries exactly one badge, "Meet an admin", created in 2017 and awarded 71,457 times; no new badge has been added since the return, which is usually the first thing a resumed update cadence produces. We have seen no dated evidence of planned updates, so we are not going to promise any.
Three Roblox Games Are Called KAT — Here Is How to Tell Them Apart
More reader confusion about this game comes from the name than from anything in the gameplay. Three separate Roblox experiences answer to "KAT" or "Knife Ability Test", and search results mix them freely. All three place IDs below were tested on September 5, 2026.
| Place ID | Name & creator | Status on Sep 5, 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| 621129760 | "KAT" by Fierzaa — the original, published Jan 21, 2017 | This is the one you want. Live (301 to its own slug), 1.48B visits, ~150 players |
| 111163066268338 | "Knife Ability Test" by the Murder Mystery Franchise group, published Jul 25, 2025 | A recreation, not affiliated. 26.7M visits. Now returns a 302 to /Title-Unavailable. Every "KAT code" you find belongs here |
| 4592931260 | "KAT - Knife Ability Test" by JustXua, published Jan 12, 2020 | Live but abandoned: 301,872 visits, 0 players, last updated in 2020, 200 up / 309 down |
The third row is the trap this page itself fell into: 4592931260 resolves, loads and is named almost exactly right, so citing it produces no error anywhere — it just sends readers to an empty room. Verify a Roblox game by place ID and creator, never by name.

KAT (Knife Ability Test) FAQ 2026
Yes. KAT was put under review on August 1, 2025 and re-released on March 19, 2026 with saved progress and content restored. Play it at place ID 621129760 — roblox.com/games/621129760/KAT. Place ID 4592931260, which this page previously gave, is a different, abandoned 2020 game. KAT is playable but much quieter than it was: around 150 concurrent players worldwide on September 5, 2026.
Fierzaa's KAT (place 621129760) has no code redemption interface. The codes on "KAT codes" lists are real, but they belong to a separate 2025 recreation at place 111163066268338, which states in its own description that it is not affiliated and does not carry progress over — and which itself returns a 302 to /Title-Unavailable as of September 5, 2026. The only "codes" in the original are Roblox audio IDs for the radio, which needs the 60 Robux Radio pass first.
MVP at 200 Robux. It is the only on-sale pass that speeds up progression, because it pays extra gems for killing your assigned target. VIP at 95 Robux is the pass most guides name, but it carries no multiplier of any kind — it unlocks the coin cloud pet, the Australium knife skin, a VIP chat tag and chat emotes. Prices read from the Roblox game-pass API on September 5, 2026.
Everyone carries a knife and a gun — there is no single "knife holder" outside the Murder mode. You hold the attack input to charge the knife and release to throw it, and it travels on an arc that drops over distance, so distant targets need extra elevation. A clean hit deals 100 damage, which is an instant kill. Which of the eleven knife powers you have equipped changes the projectile's speed, size and wall behaviour — and how many gems the kill pays.
Around 150 concurrent players worldwide, read live on September 5, 2026, against 1,480,827,573 lifetime visits. The "2.2 billion visits and 10,000 to 20,000 concurrent players" figure repeated across KAT guides — including the earlier version of this page — is not returned by any live endpoint, and Rolimon's holds no player history for the game to check it against. KAT did not regain its pre-review population.
Fierzaa (Roblox user 85382088), who published it on January 21, 2017. It has generated 1.48 billion visits. Fierzaa also runs the game's official Discord — the invite discord.gg/QxvdptB was created by Fierzaa's own account, which is what makes it verifiably official. The universe's last republish, however, was June 2, 2026, so "continues to update it" is not a claim the data supports.
No. Spam Knife let you fire knives as fast as you could click, and it cost 9,001 Robux — an "over 9,000" joke. The Roblox game-pass API now returns it with no price and isForSale: false, as of September 5, 2026. Five other passes are in the same state: Rapid-Fire, XP Booster, SCAM, SCAM 2.0 and Fierzaa Laptop Fund. They all still appear in third-party pass lists, which is why "buy the Spam Knife" keeps resurfacing in 2026 guides.
Yes. KAT is playable on mobile phones, tablets, PC and Xbox. PC players have a real advantage, because mouse aiming is more precise both for leading an arcing knife throw and for the hitscan gun. Mobile players compete best by leaning on movement and cover — the arcing knife is far easier to dodge than to land — and by practising touch aim in a private server.
KAT in 2026 is a good game with a small population, and it is worth going in with that expectation rather than the one most guides sell. The charge-and-arc knife throw still has a real skill ceiling, the eleven knife powers are a genuine build system rather than a cosmetic one, and trading gives the cosmetics actual value. Get the place ID right (621129760), buy Explosive Knife at 100 gems before anything else, and if you spend Robux, spend it on MVP rather than VIP. Then check whether a populated server exists at the hour you play — with roughly 150 players worldwide, that is the variable that decides your session.
