What Is The Morgue Shift?
The Morgue Shift is a psychological horror game on Roblox by Demetra Studios, set entirely inside Harapan Kasih Hospital. You play the lone night attendant on the morgue floor: a nurse calls bodies down by elevator, and your job is to receive each one, process it according to its cause of death, and report the case complete — all while the building works against you. It draws obvious inspiration from the PC title The Mortuary Assistant, but leans harder into procedural encounters.
The game has grown into one of Roblox's biggest horror titles: 152.2 million visits, 484,735 favorites, and roughly 4,589 players in-game concurrently as of July 31, 2026. It is completely free — no game passes gate any room, encounter, or ending — and the community tracks its systems on the dedicated The Morgue Shift wiki. Start Your Shift: the Phone, Nurse & Elevator
Your entire workflow runs on one rhythm: the phone rings, you accept the case, you fetch the body, you process it, then you send the stretcher back. Master that loop before you worry about endings.
- You spawn in the Lobby on Floor 1. When the phone rings, interact with it immediately to accept the assignment — ignoring calls stalls your shift and pushes you toward the "Shift Incomplete" ending.
- A body arrives by elevator on a stretcher. Grab the stretcher and read the task type on the case: Sterilization, Autopsy, Cremation, Embalming, Body Retrieval, or Floor Cleaning.
- Wheel the body to the matching room and complete every sub-step in order. Skipping a sub-step leaves the case unresolved.
- Learn the elevator-return rhythm: once the case is done, call the nurse and push the empty stretcher back into the lift so the next body can arrive.
- Redeem the current codes before your first body drops for a small head start — see the codes section below.
- Aim for one full task chain with zero missed sub-steps on shift one. Beginners typically finish their first night on "Shift Incomplete," and that is normal.
Learn Every Room and Its Job
Harapan Kasih Hospital spans two floors and ten rooms. The room names are in Indonesian in-game (Ruang means "room"), which trips up new players — here is what each one actually does.
Floor 1 — the working floor
Lobby: your spawn point, where the phone rings and the elevator returns stretchers. Ruang Sterilisasi (Sterilization): wash bodies at the table and change the shroud sheets before any further processing. Ruang Doktor Forensik (Autopsy): perform the forensic examination and log the findings into the computer terminal. Ruang Kremasi (Cremation): run the multi-step cremation and prepare the urn. Ruang Jenazah (Freezer): cold storage — slide bodies into the freezer units. This is the room the game is named for and its most atmospheric.
Floor 2 — support and dread
Ruang Pengawetan (Embalming): embalming handled through timed minigames. Ruang Penyimpanan (Storage): restock supplies and coffins when you run low. Ruang Elektrikal (Electrical): restore power when the building trips the breakers — a common encounter setup. Ruang Musholla (Praying Room) and Ruang Duka (Viewing Room) carry no assigned tasks, but they are worth knowing because encounters and story beats surface there.
Process a Body: Sterilize, Autopsy & Cremate
Three task chains make up the bulk of your shift. Doing them cleanly — no skipped steps — is what separates a completed case from a botched one, and botched cases steer your ending.
Sterilization
Bring the body to Ruang Sterilisasi, wash it at the table following the on-screen prompts, then change the shroud sheet. It looks trivial, but it is where many early encounters trigger, so watch the body as you work rather than button-mashing through it.
Autopsy and computer logging
In Ruang Doktor Forensik you complete the clinical examination and then input the body's data into the terminal. Accuracy matters here: the logging step is a genuine input task, not a formality, so read the case details before you submit.
Cremation — the longest chain
Cremation is the most involved task in the game. Run it in this exact order:
- Place the body into the cremation unit and activate it.
- Wait for the burn to complete — do not walk off, because interruptions can leave the case stuck.
- Collect the bones from the unit.
- Place the bones into the grinder and run it.
- Collect the resulting ashes.
- Place the ashes into the cremation urn.
- Return the urn to the stretcher to close the case.
Bodies flagged for freezer storage instead of cremation go to Ruang Jenazah, where you slide them into a numbered unit. And whenever a body carries a personal belonging — a ring, a photograph — interacting with it triggers dialogue that matters for your ending, so never ignore those items.
Survive Encounters and the Red-Eyed Entity
The Morgue Shift runs on over 45 unique encounters, each tied to an individual body's story. Most are atmosphere: flickering lights, a body that shifts when you look away, a goblin-like shape glimpsed inside a freezer, or a ghost that appears after you finish a case. These jumpscares are harmless distractions designed to rattle you — they cannot end your run.
The one exception is the Red-Eyed Entity. It is the only lethal encounter in the game and it can kill you in a single hit. Your defense is simple and specific:
Reach All 18 Endings (and the True Ending)
The Morgue Shift has 18 endings: 14 normal and 4 secret. Which one you get is not random — it is the sum of how you treated each body across your shift.
"Shift Incomplete" is the default failure state. If you leave tasks unfinished, ignore phone calls, or rush cases with missed sub-steps, this is where you land. It is the ending nearly every player sees first.
The True Ending (referred to by the community as "The Truth Behind") sits at the opposite pole. To earn it you need to treat every body with dignity: complete each processing task correctly with no skipped steps, engage the ghost interactions that appear after cases, and return every personal belonging — the rings and photographs — to its owner. Neglecting those interactions produces bleaker, darker conclusions instead.
The 4 secret endings require deliberately non-standard behavior rather than clean completion — acting on the environmental clues the game plants and responding to specific bodies in ways normal procedure would never suggest. Because they hinge on exact in-shift triggers that shift with updates, treat them as a replay goal: unlock the True Ending first, then experiment. The game saves which endings you have found, so you can track your progress toward all 18.
Play Smarter: Solo, Co-op & Pro Tips
The Morgue Shift is built to be played solo — the isolation is the point, and audio cues are calibrated for one attendant alone on the floor. Co-op is supported and lets you split rooms to clear bodies faster, but shared servers dull the tension and some encounters lose their impact, turning the game into more of a task-management run than a horror one. Chase the endings solo; bring friends only once you want a relaxed clear.
Wear headphones. The game uses directional audio heavily. Screeches, footsteps, and mechanical sounds tell you where an encounter — or the Red-Eyed Entity — is forming before you can see it.
Never skip belongings or ghost interactions. They are the backbone of the True Ending path. If you are only clearing tasks and ignoring the story beats, you are locking yourself out of the best endings.
Finish cremation before you multitask. The seven-step cremation chain is the easiest place to strand a case. Complete the urn return before you answer the next phone call.
Keep the phone loop tight. Call the nurse and return the stretcher the instant a case closes. A clean elevator rhythm is what lets strong players process 10-plus bodies a shift without falling behind.
