Murder Mystery 2’s Summer Event 2026 — still its last content drop — ended August 23, 2026. What shipped, the two events that halved the player count, and the one thing Nikilis has said about what is next.
Current update: Summer Event 2026 (ended Aug 23)
The official MM2 Wiki now reads past tense: the event “released on July 23, 2026 at 5:00PM EDT and ended August 23, 2026”. That rewrite landed at 20:11 UTC on August 23, summary “Changed to past tense since the event ended”; the Pier map’s infobox flipped to status=Inactive at 22:47 UTC the same night.
It shipped a summer lobby and Pier, the game’s most open map. Coins fed Daily, Weekly and Event quests paying Shells, and Shells bought one thing: the 2026 Summer Box, 120 Shells or 60 Gems a spin, top prize the Icecream Godly knife at 0.2%. Two closing bugs are logged, unfixed: newer servers still spawned players in the summer lobby, and the normal lobby ran a timer reading “Time until update: NOW!”.
The Beach Bundle did not lock
BUNDLE: Beach (ID 1927110322) did not delist when the event closed. Re-checked at 12:14 UTC on August 27, 2026: still IsForSale: true at 3,399 Robux, still labelled “Available for a LIMITED TIME!”. It grants Beachy and Sands (both on our MM2 tier list) plus the Ocean effect — one of only three of MM2’s 72 passes on sale, with Radio and Elite (475 and 499 Robux).
Two drops, two different causes
August 18 — a bot ban wave. The wiki logs an all-time peak of 1.3 million concurrent during the event, then over 500,000 lost in under two hours, citing a post that snowflake-dates to 01:53 UTC on August 18, 2026. Roblox confirmed the mechanism on August 19, 2026: “Your game’s player count may fluctuate as these accounts are removed.”
August 23 — the event closed. Our radar’s 28 six-hourly readings from August 20–27, 2026 split at that boundary with no overlap. The 14 before ran 414,546–913,238 concurrent, median 769,512; the 14 since run 199,687–398,682, median 308,025. Peak down 56%, median down 60%.

One primary source exists and it is thin. At 22:54 UTC on July 23, 2026 — the post ID snowflake-dates it — Nikilis wrote on X that an even bigger update was still planned: no name, no date, no features. The wiki cites it, speculates “potentially Season 2” and flags that as inference; no Season 2 article existed on August 27, 2026. The “MB3” rumour has no primary source.
Three checks agree nothing has shipped: the wiki’s Timeline holds two 2026 entries, February 13 and July 23, and no August one; MM2’s newest badge dates to 2014, so no drop has minted one; and of ~15 MM2 channels uploading this week, none announces one. We ignore the games/v1 updated stamp — it is a rolling counter. Confirmed patches land on the MM2 hub.
