S Tier — Best Earning Sources in Build a Zoo

S tier is where your real money comes from. These are the top special rarity tiers and the two strongest mutations in the game. If you can stack a Prismatic-tier animal with a Jurassic mutation, that single display will out-earn an entire row of unmutated commons.

S Prismatic & Divine Animals

Prismatic and Divine are the top special tiers, sitting above the entire standard rarity ladder. The dollars-per-second they generate dwarfs everything from Mythical down. They're rare to hatch, which is exactly why opening the highest-rarity eggs you can afford beats hoarding cash — the tier of the egg is the single biggest decision you make.

S Jurassic Mutation — 12x

Jurassic ties for the strongest mutation at a 12x multiplier. It's also the hardest to get: a 1% drop from Meteor Heaven through the Season Pass, or by feeding Volt Ginkgo to your big animals. That rarity is the catch, but a 12x boost on a high-tier animal is a permanent income spike that's worth the long chase.

S Snow Mutation — 12x

Snow matches Jurassic at 12x and is more reachable for most players. It comes from Snowy Eggs, which only spawn during Snowy Weather, so you have to be online and stocking up when the event runs. If you're around for a Snowy Weather window, prioritize opening those eggs — a 12x mutation doesn't come cheap anywhere else.

A Tier — Excellent Tiers & Mutations

A tier is the strong middle of your zoo — the rarity tier and mutation that carry you from mid-game into the high end. You'll see these far more often than S-tier sources, and a zoo built mostly on A-tier earners is already doing well.

A Mythical Animals

Mythical is the top of the standard rarity ladder and the highest tier you'll hatch with any regularity. Mythical animals produce serious dollars per second on their own, and they're the natural target once your zoo can afford consistent high-rarity eggs. Treat Mythical as your baseline goal before Divine and Prismatic become realistic.

A Fire Mutation — 10x

Fire sits at a 10x multiplier, just under the 12x ceiling. You get it from eggs and the river, or by feeding Gold Mango to large animals. A 10x mutation is a massive boost that's much easier to acquire than Jurassic, which makes Fire the practical sweet spot — strong enough to matter, common enough to actually build around.

A Big Pets & Big Fish

Big Pets aren't just for show — they're super-sized earners, and they double as your mutation factory. The first Big Pet platform costs $30,000 Gold, a second unlocks for 299 Robux, and a Big Fish platform runs $50,000. Feeding fruits like Pear, Pineapple, Gold Mango, and Volt Ginkgo to big animals is how you apply several of the best mutations, so these platforms pay for themselves twice over.

B Tier — Good Tiers & Mutations

B tier covers the solid mid-game earners. These rarity tiers and mutations won't carry a late-game zoo, but they're exactly what you want while building toward the top. Every successful zoo spends real time here.

B Legendary & Epic Animals

Legendary and Epic animals are the engine of your mid-game economy. They earn well above the early tiers and show up often enough to fill your enclosures consistently. Reinvest their income into higher-tier eggs and conveyor upgrades — the Epic conveyor alone costs $1,500,000 to unlock, and that's the kind of milestone Legendary and Epic earnings are built to fund.

B Electric Mutation — 5x

Electric delivers a 5x multiplier and comes from eggs or the river. It's the first mutation that genuinely changes your income curve. A 5x boost on a Legendary animal can match or beat a higher-rarity animal with no mutation, which is why grabbing Electric mutations early is one of the better mid-game moves you can make.

C Tier — Average Tiers & Mutations

C tier is your starting point, not your destination. These tiers and mutations get your zoo running and fund your first real upgrades, then fall off quickly. Replace them as soon as better eggs and mutations are within reach.

C Common, Uncommon & Rare Animals

The bottom three standard tiers fill your zoo in the opening hour. They earn little per second, but they get visitors through the gate and cash into your account. Don't get attached — every Common enclosure is a slot you'll want for a Rare, then an Epic, then something far better.

C Diamond & Gold Mutations — 3x and 2x

Diamond (3x) and Gold (2x) are the entry mutations. You pull them from eggs, the river, or by feeding Pear and Pineapple to Big Pets and Big Fish. They're a clear upgrade over no mutation at all, so apply them early — but the moment Electric and Fire mutations start appearing, move your best animals onto those instead.

Build a Zoo doesn't let you select which animal hatches from an egg — the result is random within each rarity tier. Ranking specific animals would be misleading, because you can't actually target them. What you control is the egg tier you open and the mutation you apply, so those are what we ranked.

Mutation multipliers were the clearest data point, so they anchor the list. The numbers are exact: Gold 2x, Diamond 3x, Electric 5x, Fire 10x, and both Jurassic and Snow at 12x. A mutation's tier placement tracks its multiplier almost directly, with obtainability nudging things slightly — Snow and Jurassic share the same 12x, but Snow is more reachable through Snowy Weather than Jurassic's 1% Meteor Heaven drop.

Rarity tiers were ranked by the dollars-per-second they generate, which climbs steadily from Common up to the Prismatic and Divine special tiers.
