For a beginner, the single best free pickup is now the Golem Capybara: it hatches from the Golem Capybara Egg in the new UPDATE3 code, out-fights every early shop hatchling, and carries you until you can afford the newest premium egg line. (The Ghost Capybara filled this role before its RELEASE code expired in the August rotation — still a fine A-tier unit if you already own one.) Long term, the Angel Capybara is the top hatch players chase from high-end eggs and rare pools, and it sits alongside your best fused units at the top of S tier.

The one habit that beats everything: build around one strong DPS capybara rather than a plot of duplicate starters. Weak slots drag your total damage down, so retire tutorial hatchlings the moment a Golem, Ghost or premium unit is ready.

Use weather mutations to power up your plot

Weather isn't just cosmetic in Capybaras VS Plants — weather events roll across your plot and mutate your capybaras, plants and even un-hatched eggs. A mutation attaches an aura to a unit that can boost its plant-cash output or its attack cadence, so a plain B-tier capybara can suddenly punch well above its base tier once it's mutated.

Because mutations are what turn ordinary units into rare, high-value variants, you want to keep your plot full and your eggs sitting out when weather rolls in — an empty slot can't be mutated. Rare mutated capybaras are strong enough to earn S-tier consideration, and they're also prime candidates to feed into the Fuse Machine, since fusing a mutated unit carries its buff into the result.

Fuse duplicate capybaras in the Fuse Machine

The Fuse Machine was added in the game's current update ("Added Fuse Machine, New Boss + Bug Fixes") and it's the answer to the pile of duplicate capybaras you'll accumulate. Feeding duplicates into the machine merges their traits into a single stronger fused unit, and fusing often unlocks visuals you simply can't buy in the egg shop — the fused look is exclusive to the machine.

• Save your duplicates instead of deleting them — they're the raw material for fused units, which sit in S tier.
• Fuse before a boss attempt. A boss run rewards you for having at least one rare or fused DPS unit, so run a fusion session on your spare duplicates first.

Bosses are the game's skill check. The first major encounter is the Skull Flower, followed by a second boss ("Boss 2") added in the current update. Totems are passive buff items you collect that boost your economy in the background.
