Cut a Gem Beginner's Guide – Best Grinders, Geodes & Fast Cash
This Cut a Gem beginner's guide shows you exactly which grinders and geodes to buy first, the totems worth your Cash, and how rebirths and offline income stack — so you go from one starter grinder to a purity-farming production line without wasting money on the wrong upgrades.

How Cut a Gem works: the grind-and-sell loop
Cut a Gem — full title "[🍀 x3] Cut a Gem" by the Gem Traders group — is an incremental simulator where you buy rough geodes, feed them into grinders that cut them into gems, then sell those gems to buyers who walk up to your conveyor belt. It launched May 23, 2026 and has already crossed 7,584,299 visits with 278,533 favorites and a 97.4% like rating (60,100 likes vs 1,604 dislikes), with 2,819 players in-game at our check on August 5, 2026.
The core loop is short and repeats forever: place a grinder and a conveyor belt → grind a geode into a gem → accept the highest buyer offer → spend the Cash on better geodes, grinders and totems. Everything in the game exists to push one number up: gem purity, which decides how much a finished gem sells for. Grinder tier, conveyor order, totems and rebirth bonuses all feed into that purity figure, so your whole progression is really about compounding purity while your geode tiers climb.
- Finish the short opening tutorial, which places your first grinder and conveyor belt for you.
- Open the Store (Shop) button on the left of the screen and buy a geode you can afford.
- Drop the geode onto your grinder and let it cut a gem — higher-tier grinders finish faster and at higher purity.
- Let the gem ride the conveyor to a buyer, then accept the highest offer instead of the first lowball.
- Reinvest the Cash into a faster grinder or a better geode, and repeat.
How to cut gems faster: best grinders to buy first
Your grinder is the single biggest lever on income, because it controls both how fast a gem is cut and how pure it comes out. The biggest early mistake new players make is buying five Basic Grinders instead of upgrading one tier — starter purity flatlines while geode tiers keep rising, so a stack of cheap grinders quickly can't keep up. Save for the next tier instead. Here is the store progression with the numbers that matter:
| Grinder | Cost (Cash) | Speed | Purity bonus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic Grinder | $1K | 1x (normal) | Baseline |
| Power Buffer | $21K | 2x faster | +22% |
| Hydro Glazer | $440K | 4x faster | +43% |
| Laser Cutter | $25.5M | 8x faster | +51% |
| Plasma Shiner | $1B | 16x faster | +53% |
| Quantum Aligner | $250B | 32x faster | +55% |
| Ultrasonic Crusher | $10T | 64x faster | +56% |
Notice the pattern: the speed multiplier keeps doubling (1x → 2x → 4x → 8x…), but the purity bonus flattens out after the Hydro Glazer (+43%). That means your first few upgrades — from Basic to Power Buffer to Hydro Glazer — give the biggest jumps in gem value per Cash spent. Prioritise them. The Hydro Glazer at $440K is the tier where Crystal-grade geodes finally feel smooth to grind instead of piling up.
Which geodes to grind (and when to upgrade)
Geodes are your raw material, and each tier costs more but yields more valuable crystals. Feeding a cheap geode into a top grinder wastes the grinder's purity potential, so keep your geode tier climbing alongside your grinders. The early geode ladder looks like this:
| Geode | Cost (Cash) | Produces |
|---|---|---|
| Cobblestone | $50 | White Crystal, Dull Crystal |
| Mudstone | $550 | Orange Crystal, Yellow Crystal |
| Dark Mudstone | $1.8K | Red, Yellow, Orange Crystal |
| Sandstone | $5.8K | Red Crystal |
| Granite | $63K | Blue Crystal |
A simple rule keeps you efficient: upgrade a geode tier whenever your current grinder cuts it noticeably faster than buyers can carry gems away. If gems are stacking on the conveyor, your grinder is ahead of your geode value — move up to the next stone (for example Cobblestone → Mudstone → Sandstone → Granite) so each cut is worth more. Sandstone at $5.8K is the only early geode that reliably produces Red Crystal, and it's also handed out by the game's milestone codes, so it's a common first "rare" material.
Best totems and upgrades for your Cash
Totems are passive buff items you place on your plot — they raise gem size, grinding speed, buyer payouts or offline earnings, and they stack up to your current totem cap (which rebirth raises). Once you have a working grinder-and-geode line, totems are where your surplus Cash should go. The three most useful early-to-mid totems are:
- Small Growth Totem — $250K: gives each gem a 15% chance to grow and come out about 15% bigger. Bigger gems are heavier and sell for more, so this is a strong first totem and also drops from milestone codes.
- Increase Rich Customer — $12M: gives a 30% chance a buyer pays about 20% more for a gem. It scales with every sale you make, so it's a mid-game income multiplier.
- Radioactive Totem — $5B: gives an 8% chance a gem turns radioactive, worth 2.5x its normal value. It's a late-game gamble that turns a fraction of your gems into jackpots.
Buy the Small Growth Totem first — at $250K it's affordable soon after your Hydro Glazer, and a permanent +15% size roll on every gem compounds with your rising purity. Save the Rich Customer and Radioactive totems for when their multiplier is applied to already-valuable gems; buying a $5B totem while you're still selling cheap crystals wastes its ceiling.
How rebirths and offline income work
Two systems quietly do most of your long-term growth: rebirth and offline production.
Rebirth resets your Cash and grinders but grants permanent perks. Rebirth Level 1 hands you a money boost, an increase to your maximum number of totems, and improved grinder speed — and because rebirth also multiplies gem purity, each new run is faster and more profitable than the last. The right time to rebirth is when your income clearly stalls: if a new grinder tier is out of reach and your current gems aren't climbing in value, reset and let the permanent bonuses carry you back past that wall in a fraction of the time.
Offline production is what makes the game idle-friendly: your grinders keep running while you're logged out, banking gems and Cash. The habit that turns this into free progress is simple — before you close the game, load your best geode into your fastest grinder and top up your geode stock so there's plenty to cut. Come back a few hours later to a pile of finished gems waiting to sell.
How to sell smart: buyers, luck & codes
Selling is not automatic — buyers walk up and make offers, and you choose which to accept. Two things maximise every sale:
- Never accept the first lowball offer. Let buyers bid and take the highest one. On a high-purity gem the gap between the first and best offer can be large.
- Use your luck. The game's title tag "🍀 x3" refers to a x3 Geode Stock Chance — a luck bonus on how much stock restocks in the store. Restock your geodes when the bonus is active so you always have premium material to grind, especially right before logging off.
Cut a Gem also runs milestone codes that hand out free Cash, a Hydro Glazer grinder, a Small Growth Totem and Sandstone geodes — a genuine head-start for new players. We don't reprint the table here; grab the current working list and exact redeem steps on our Cut a Gem codes page, which we re-verify against the in-game Store box. Redeem the active code before your first big grind so the free grinder and totem are working for you from the start.

Frequently Asked Questions
Buy a second grinder and a conveyor belt before anything cosmetic, then save for the Power Buffer grinder at $21K — it grinds twice as fast with about 22% more purity, roughly doubling your income. After that, put your first big payout into a Small Growth Totem ($250K). Don't stack five Basic Grinders; upgrading one tier beats duplicating the starter.
Rebirth resets your Cash and grinders but grants permanent perks. Rebirth Level 1 gives a money boost, raises your maximum number of totems, and improves grinder speed. Because rebirth also multiplies gem purity, it's usually worth resetting once your income stalls — spend your Cash down first, since rebirth zeroes it.
Yes. Cut a Gem's grinders keep processing geodes while you're logged out, so you bank Cash offline. Before leaving, load your best geode into your fastest grinder and top up your geode stock — the game's 🍀 x3 Geode Stock Chance means restocking before you log off gives you more to grind while away.
About This Guide
We built this guide by playing the grind-and-sell loop and cross-checking every named grinder, geode and totem against live trackers in early August 2026, tied to the correct game — universe 10210301177 by the Gem Traders group, not a similarly named "gem" simulator. Stats are pulled live from the Roblox API as of August 5, 2026. For the current working codes, see our Cut a Gem codes page. Spot something out of date? Tell us in our Discord and we'll re-check.
