Getting Started: Your First Hours

Loomian Legacy doesn't hold your hand the way some Roblox games do. The early game moves at a deliberate pace — there's a proper story, rival characters, and a gym-style progression structure that takes real time to work through.

The first decision you make is your starter Loomian. There are three choices, each covering a different type and stat profile. One leans into high Speed and Ranged Attack, one prioritizes raw Defense and HP, and one sits in the middle with balanced offensive stats. New players often pick by design rather than stats, which is fine — the starter matters less than the team you build around it over the first few hours.

Your First 30 Minutes

Tip: Don't spend your early Loomicoins on Revives. Battles auto-heal between routes if you walk back to the nearest healing station. Save your currency for capsules and Enhancers.

The 17-Type System Explained

This is where Loomian Legacy separates itself from simpler monster-collection games. Seventeen types with individual matchup charts creates a genuinely deep metagame, especially once you're in ranked PvP.

The 17 types are: Normal, Fire, Water, Nature, Earth, Ice, Electric, Mind, Metal, Light, Shadow, Ancient, Brawler, Hindering, Dusk, Typeless, and one additional type introduced post-launch. Each type has between 2 and 4 weaknesses and a similar number of resistances, and several are immune to specific types entirely.

Key Matchups to Memorize

You don't need to memorize all 289 possible type interactions — but a few are so common in ranked play that knowing them cold wins games.

Attacking Type Strong Against Weak Against
Fire Nature, Ice, Metal Water, Earth, Ancient
Water Fire, Earth, Ancient Nature, Electric
Electric Water, Brawler Earth, Nature
Shadow Mind, Light Brawler, Shadow
Ancient Normal, Dusk Metal, Brawler
Dusk Shadow, Mind Light, Normal

Mind and Light types are particularly valuable in ranked because they cover several types that other common builds leave exposed. Running at least one Mind-type attacker is almost mandatory in high-rank lobbies.

How to Catch Loomians Efficiently

The catch mechanic in Loomian Legacy is straightforward once you know the variables. Every Loomian has a base catch rate — common spawns like Temble or Snocub sit around 35–50%, while rarer species drop to 5–10% or lower. Your capsule type, the target's remaining HP, and any active status condition all multiply into that base rate.

Status conditions are the biggest single multiplier. Sleep roughly doubles the effective catch rate, and Paralysis provides a smaller but still meaningful boost. Learning a Loomian with a sleep-inducing move early and keeping it in your party specifically for catching is a strategy most veteran players stick with even at high levels.

Capsule Types and When to Use Them

Standard Loomian Capsules work fine for common routes. Timer Capsules — which get stronger the longer the battle goes — are efficient for high-HP tanks that take a while to whittle down. Lure Capsules give a flat rate bonus that makes them worth using on any rare spawn you can't afford to lose. Don't use premium capsules on a 40%+ base rate catch; you're wasting the bonus on something that would catch anyway.

The turn-based battle UI shows each Loomian's HP, current level, and type — all the information you need to apply the right matchup pressure before throwing a capsule.
Tip: If you have the Advanced Loomipedia game pass (99 Robux), the in-game Loomipedia displays exact base catch rates for every species. It removes the guesswork on whether a Lure Capsule is worth using.

Gleaming and Gamma Hunting

Gleaming Loomians are alternate-color variants — purely cosmetic, zero effect on stats. The base encounter rate without any boosts is approximately 1 in 4,000. That sounds brutal, and it is. But it's also what makes gleaming hunting one of the more active communities in the game.

Gamma Loomians are even rarer. They have a distinct glowing visual effect and are estimated at roughly 1 in 16,000 encounters or lower depending on the species. No confirmed mechanic in the base game increases gamma odds — they're essentially a second lottery ticket inside the gleaming lottery.

How to Hunt Gleamings Effectively

Chain hunting is the most reliable approach. Stay in one area and keep encountering the same species without leaving the route. While Loomian Legacy doesn't have an officially documented chain multiplier, the community has tracked data suggesting sustained chains of 100+ encounters in the same area produce better-than-base odds. Whether that's a coded mechanic or variance working in their favor is still debated, but the method is widely used.

Some players run multiple accounts simultaneously in separate windows, each farming the same spawn point. It's time-intensive but mathematically multiplies your encounter rate. Rally Ranch breeding also produces slightly better gleaming odds than wild encounters — the exact rate isn't published by Llama Train Studio, but community estimates put it around 1 in 3,000 with the right setup.

Tip: Keep a Loomian with False Swipe or an equivalent low-damage finisher move. Nothing ends a gleaming hunt faster than accidentally knocking out the one gleaming you find after 3,000+ checks.

Rally Ranch and Breeding

Rally Ranch is the breeding facility unlocked through story progression. You place two compatible Loomians in adjacent pens, and after a period of walking or waiting, an egg appears. Eggs hatch after accumulating a set number of steps in-game — the exact count varies by species and ranges from roughly 1,000 to 5,000 steps.

What Breeding Is Actually Used For

There are three main reasons competitive players breed instead of just catching wild Loomians.

Move inheritance. Offspring can inherit moves from the parent that they can't learn through leveling up. These are called Breeding Moves (sometimes called Egg Moves in community discussions). Access to certain high-value coverage moves in PvP requires having a parent that knows the move at the time of breeding.

UP stat optimization. Parents can pass down partially trained UP stats to offspring. This cuts down the grind of maxing out a freshly caught Loomian for competitive use — a well-bred offspring might start with 50–80 UPs already distributed in the right stats.

Gleaming breeding. As noted above, the gleaming odds from Rally Ranch eggs are marginally better than wild encounters. For Loomians that spawn rarely in the wild, breeding is the more efficient gleaming hunting method.

Rally Ranch opens up once you're deep enough into the story campaign. Running multiple breeding pairs simultaneously saves a lot of time when hunting for specific move combinations.

Ranked PvP Battle Strategy

Ranked is 3v3. You bring a full team of 6 and pick 3 when the match starts — the selection phase is where a lot of matches are won or lost before a single move is used. Knowing your opponent's likely leads and having a counter-pick ready is a skill that separates mid-rank players from high-rank ones.

Team Building for Ranked

A solid competitive team structure uses three archetypes: a fast sweeper, a bulky wall, and a pivot or support. The sweeper should threaten at least 4–5 types offensively. The wall needs enough bulk to take two hits from common attackers and force switches. The pivot handles status moves, speed control, or healing.

Speed tiers matter a lot. If your sweeper has 120 base Speed and your opponent's has 125, you're going second on every exchange. Before taking a Loomian into ranked, check the community-maintained speed tier list. Most competitive builds run a speed-boosting move or a Nature equivalent that adjusts the final Speed stat to hit a specific tier.

The Most Common Ranked Threats (Spring 2026)

Archetype Role Primary Threat Common Counter
Fast Shadow-type sweeper Sweeper High Speed + Shadow STAB Brawler-type tank
Bulky Metal/Earth wall Wall Recovery + high Defense stat Fire or Water special attacker
Mind-type support Support Status moves + speed control Dark-coverage physical attacker
Electric-type glass cannon Sweeper Very high Ranged Attack stat Earth-type pivot

Ranked Tip: Don't Stack the Same Type

Teams that run two or more Loomians of the same type get hard-walled by a single counter. If your opponent identifies that you have two Shadow-types, they bring in their Brawler-type and you lose both before landing meaningful damage. Type diversity across your 3 chosen slots is non-negotiable at Platinum rank and above.

Game Passes: Which Are Worth It

Loomian Legacy has three game passes. None of them are pay-to-win in the traditional sense — the competitive mode is entirely stat-balanced — but they do affect quality of life in meaningful ways.

Game Pass Cost What You Get Worth It?
Beginner Bundle 399 Robux Starter items, Loomicoins bonus, early capsules and boosts Best value for brand new players
Advanced Loomipedia 99 Robux Full stat data, base catch rates, move pool details in-game Yes — especially for competitive players
Extra Save Slot 149 Robux Second independent save file Only if you want a fresh run or share an account

The Advanced Loomipedia at 99 Robux is the clearest value. Having exact base stats and catch rates displayed in-game removes hours of guesswork and cross-referencing fan wikis mid-session. If you're planning any serious ranked or gleaming work, it pays for itself in time saved within the first week.

The Beginner Bundle at 399 Robux is solid if you're starting fresh and want a smoother early game. The Loomicoins and extra capsules carry you through the first two or three routes without the usual resource pinch. If you're already 10+ hours in, the Bundle's value drops significantly since you've already cleared the content it's designed to smooth out.

Loomian Legacy Codes (April 2026)

Loomian Legacy is notoriously sparse with codes. Llama Train Studio has released fewer than a dozen codes across the game's entire history, and as of April 2026, there are no confirmed active codes in circulation. The table below shows the historical codes for reference.

Code Reward Status
LLAMALEGACY Bonus Loomicoins + items Expired
HOLIDAYRELEASE Seasonal items bundle Expired
LLSTUDIO2024 Loomicoins Expired
SPRING2025 Seasonal capsules Expired

To stay current on any new codes, follow Llama Train Studio on Twitter and join their official Discord server. Those are the only two channels where new codes are announced — third-party sites that claim "working codes" are almost always posting codes that expired months ago.

Spring 2026 Update Highlights

The Spring 2026 update was a meaningful content drop. Llama Train Studio added several new Loomians, at least two new explorable areas, and balance adjustments to a handful of PvP-dominant types.

The Spring 2026 update introduced new areas with exclusive Loomians not available anywhere else in the game — a good reason to push through the story campaign if you've been putting it off.

New Areas and Loomians

The new areas introduced in Spring 2026 are accessible through the existing region structure, gated behind late-story progression. Casual players who haven't finished the main campaign will need to push through several hours of story before reaching the new content. The new Loomians are exclusive to these areas — they don't appear anywhere else on the map, which means you can't farm them on an alt account with early access.

Balance Changes

Several ranked staples received stat tweaks. The most notable changes hit defensive types that had dominated the top 100 ranked ladder for two consecutive seasons. Specifically, some high-Defense Metal and Earth walls had their recovery move efficiency adjusted, which opens space for more offensive play styles at high rank. The full patch notes are available on the official Loomian Legacy Roblox page.

Tip: If your ranked team was built around the pre-Spring 2026 meta, take some time to re-test your wall matchups. What used to survive two rounds of chip damage might now fold on the first hit from a Fire-type coverage move.

How to Get Free Robux for Game Passes

The Advanced Loomipedia and Extra Save Slot together cost 248 Robux. The Beginner Bundle adds another 399 on top. That's real money, and if you're playing Loomian Legacy casually, it can be hard to justify the purchase.

Earnaldo is a free platform where you earn Robux by completing tasks and offers — no purchase required. Players use it specifically to cover game pass costs without spending their own money. It takes time, but if you're already grinding Loomian Legacy daily, running a few offers in parallel is a natural fit.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many Loomians are in Loomian Legacy in 2026? +

As of the Spring 2026 update, Loomian Legacy has over 200 Loomians available to catch across all regions. The Spring 2026 patch added several new species alongside new areas, bringing the total roster to its largest point yet. Llama Train Studio continues adding new Loomians with each major update, so that number will keep climbing throughout 2026.

How many types does the Loomian Legacy type system have? +

Loomian Legacy uses a 17-type system: Normal, Fire, Water, Nature, Earth, Ice, Electric, Mind, Metal, Light, Shadow, Ancient, Brawler, Hindering, Dusk, Typeless, and one additional type added post-launch. Each type has its own strengths, weaknesses, and immunities. Learning the matchups for at least the 8 most common ranked types will put you ahead of the majority of players you'll face in PvP.

What is a gleaming Loomian and how rare is it? +

A gleaming Loomian is an alternate-color variant, visually distinct from the standard version but identical in battle stats. The base encounter rate for a gleaming is approximately 1 in 4,000 wild encounters without any boosts or chain bonuses. Gamma Loomians are rarer still — community estimates put the odds at around 1 in 16,000 or lower depending on the species. Both are purely cosmetic and don't provide any advantage in PvP or the story campaign.

Are there any active Loomian Legacy codes in 2026? +

As of April 2026, there are no confirmed active codes for Loomian Legacy. Llama Train Studio releases codes very rarely — fewer than a dozen have ever been published across the game's lifetime, and all known codes have expired. The best way to catch a new code when one does drop is to follow the official Llama Train Studio Twitter account and their Discord server. Our Loomian Legacy codes page also updates immediately when new codes are announced.

What game passes are available for Loomian Legacy and how much do they cost? +

There are three game passes available. The Beginner Bundle costs 399 Robux and provides starter items, a Loomicoins bonus, and extra capsules — best value for players in their first few hours. The Advanced Loomipedia costs 99 Robux and displays full stat data, base catch rates, and complete move pool information inside the in-game Loomipedia. The Extra Save Slot costs 149 Robux and gives you a second independent save file. All three are quality-of-life focused rather than pay-to-win, so the game is fully playable without purchasing any of them.

How does breeding work at Rally Ranch in Loomian Legacy? +

Rally Ranch is the breeding facility unlocked through story progression. You pair two compatible Loomians in adjacent pens and wait for an egg to appear. Eggs hatch after a set number of in-game steps, which varies by species from roughly 1,000 to 5,000 steps. Breeding is used by competitive players to pass down specific moves offspring can't learn naturally, to carry partially trained UP stats from parents to offspring, and to hunt for gleaming variants — the gleaming odds from eggs are slightly better than wild encounter odds, with community estimates around 1 in 3,000 under optimal conditions.

How does ranked PvP work in Loomian Legacy? +

Ranked PvP in Loomian Legacy is a 3v3 turn-based format. You bring a team of 6 and select 3 at the start of each match. The ladder uses a points-based ranking system with named tiers — seasons run for a set period and reset with rewards for top-ranked players. Team composition is built around the 17-type matchup chart, and most high-ranked teams include at least one fast sweeper, one defensive wall, and one support or pivot Loomian. Speed tiers and move coverage across your 3 chosen Loomians determine most outcomes at Platinum rank and above.
