Storage Hunters: Open World Tier List (2026) — Best Mutations Ranked

By Money Lord — Founder & Editor | Updated: September 4, 2026

Mutations are the one part of Storage Hunters: Open World with a published, objective ladder — each one is a flat multiplier on what an item sells for. This tier list ranks the 32 mutations you can still roll as of September 4, 2026, straight by that multiplier, from Rainbow at 100x down to Dirty, the only one that makes an item worth less.

Absolute Zero!'s auction sim held a median of 20,004 concurrent players across 15 radar samples between September 1 and September 4, 2026, in a band of 14,829 to 22,997. Pulled live at 14:14 UTC on September 4 it sits on 98,905,507 visits and 106,097 likes against 6,061 dislikes. The developer's description names four mutations — Gold, Diamond, Void and Rainbow — without printing a single number, so every multiplier below comes from the community wiki instead. Full stats sit on the game hub.

How Mutation Multipliers Actually Work

A mutation multiplies an item's sale price. When an item carries more than one, the multipliers multiply together rather than adding up — the wiki states the rule and works the example, and an item holding Silver (2x) and Gold (4x) sells at 2 × 4 = 8x, not 6x. That distinction matters more than any single entry on this list, because it turns two mediocre rolls into a good one.

Plenty of auto-generated pages get this backwards and tell you mutations add. They're wrong, and there's a checkable reason to trust the wiki instead: the community's mutation calculator, built by two of that wiki's own editors, pulls the multiplier table live from the wiki module and reduces the selected mutations with a product, not a sum. You can read that in its source.

Two more multipliers ride on top of the mutation figure. Condition scales the price toward a floor that depends on how expensive the item is, and grade from the Grading Store applies a flat band: Replica 85%, 1 Star 105%, 2 Star 135%, 3 Star 200%. We quote those value bands but no grade odds, because the wiki's odds table and the developer's own Lucky Grading pass description disagree on the 1-Star and 2-Star rates.

S Tier — 25x and Above

Four mutations you can still roll clear 25x. Rainbow tops everything at 100x, and the wiki describes it as the largest multiplier listed among the standard obtainable mutations. Secret takes second at 50x, coating the item in intense red with red electrical arcs flashing around it. Void sits at 35x and is the one the developer names in the game's own description, alongside Gold, Diamond and Rainbow.

Caustic is the odd one in this tier at 30x, because it's the only S-tier mutation with a published rate: 0.5%, and only during the Acid Rain event. That makes it the one top-end mutation you can actually farm deliberately rather than wait for.

Nobody can quote you real odds on the other three. The wiki's Standard Mutations table has a multiplier column and nothing else, and we won't invent a chance column that doesn't exist. The closest honest measure of the top end is the badge ledger: 555 accounts hold Find Every Mutator against 21,492,740 holding the join badge, pulled live on September 4, 2026.

A Tier — 10x to 15x

Six mutations land in this band, and one of them is on a clock. Seized pays 15x and arrived with the Police Event, whose Roblox event listing for this experience opened August 29 at 19:00 UTC and closes September 5 at 19:00 UTC. If you want it, that window is the whole opportunity. Its roll chance isn't documented — the wiki page carries an explicit information-needed tag on the odds.

Hologram matches it at 15x from the standard pool. Dune pays 12.5x at a 0.2% rate during Sandstorm, the best documented multiplier-per-chance trade in the event roster, and Chrome gives a flat 12x whenever it turns up.

Timeless also pays 12x, but it comes from the Time Capsule behind the Shopping Mall rather than an auction roll. That machine wants $100,000 net worth and a fee of 5 to 250 diamonds, then rolls every five minutes until one of its four mutations lands. Timeless is 0.025% per roll, or 0.8% of all Time Capsule results. Gem rounds out the tier at 10x, and it's the subtle one — it doesn't recolour the item, it just flashes four-point stars around it.

B Tier — 5x to 8x

Eight mutations sit in the middle. Diamond leads at 8x, and it does something none of the others do: since version 0.4.1 on July 6, 2026, mutations and grades on a Diamond Safe raise the number of diamonds it awards, so a Diamond Safe carrying a rare mutation pays twice.

Perfect at 7.5x is the tier's trap and its best trick. You can't roll it. It comes only from washing an item that already carries Mint, and Mint on its own is a 1x mutation that adds a customer tip and nothing else. Most players sell Mint items on sight, which quietly throws away the only route to a 7.5x roll in the game.

Corrupted (6x) comes from the standard pool and Shocked (6x) from rain, at a documented 0.29%. Then four fives: Acid at 10% during Acid Rain, the highest published rate of any event mutation worth chasing; Ancient at 0.1% per Time Capsule roll, or 3.2% of capsule results; Firefly at 0.1% inside a Moonlit event that lasts four minutes; and Fossil, the one mutation luck can't buy, since it only appears while you wear an accessory whose passive grants it.

C Tier — Below 5x

Fourteen mutations pay under 5x, and two of them are worth understanding rather than ignoring. Dirty is the only mutation in the game that makes an item worth less, at 0.8x — but a Dirty item can be washed once for a shot at Pure (1.5x) or Spotless (2.5x), or at nothing. The wiki says outright that those odds haven't been confirmed, so treat the wash as a coin flip you get for free in slot one.

Cobwebbed deserves a warning. At 1.2x it's the weakest Time Capsule result, and it's also 80% of everything the capsule produces. Paying up to 250 diamonds for a capsule roll is, four times in five, paying for a 1.2x. Redacted is the other letdown: it came in with the live Police Event next to Seized, and it's worth 1.25x.

The rest are filler that stacks: Gold at 4x, Sandy (2.25x, 3.5% in Sandstorm), the flat doubles Silver, Huge and Tiny, Antique (2x, 16% of capsule results), Moonlit (1.5x at 4%) and Wet (1.4x at 4.5%). None is a jackpot alone. Two on the same item is an 8x, which is the whole argument against quick-selling low rolls.

Mutations You Can No Longer Roll

Three mutations were exclusive to the Alien Invasion and are gone: Probed (4x at 4.5%), Abducted (10x at 1%) and Extraterrestrial (25x at 0.25%). The wiki dates that event to August 16–30, 2026 and marked it ended in an edit timestamped August 30 at 00:47 UTC, and it no longer appears in the experience's live event feed. Extraterrestrial would have been an S-tier entry had it survived. Our Storage Hunters update log covers the patch history around it.

Black is a fourth exclusion, for a different reason. It exists in the game files, and the wiki's module lists its multiplier as "Unobtainable" rather than a number, tracing the first sighting to a tester's post in the developers' Discord. The page then guesses at a value from where Black sits in the file order. A guess isn't a multiplier, so Black gets no tier here.

The one number to remember — a 3-Star grade is worth 200% of base value and stacks on top of whatever mutation the item rolled. A 2x Silver at 3-Star beats a 4x Gold at Replica.

How to Raise Your Mutation Odds

Gavel Trophies are the real lever. You win them from auctions and display them on your plot, and displayed trophies raise the chance that auction items turn up mutated at all. You can show three, or four with the Extra Gavel Trophy pass, which is live at 449 Robux and was created on July 17, 2026. Each trophy can itself hold up to three mutations, a single trophy caps at a +250% mutation boost, and trophies carrying the same mutation stack together.

Gavel Loadouts save a trophy arrangement and swap the set back in one tap, through the "+" button next to the Luck stat. The first is free, the second costs 200 diamonds and the third 300 diamonds. Trophies placed in a club Clubhouse boost only their own owner.

The Museum is the second lever, and it pays in Luck rather than value. Displaying an item grants a base Luck boost that scales with its price, and visitors periodically leave money, diamonds or Luck Drinks. A display can rarely be marked Showcased for +50% Luck, and a Showcased item left up long enough may become an Artifact for +100% Luck. Both marks are permanent even if you later withdraw or sell the item.

Luck Drinks come in three grades and stack with all of it. Grading a drink to 2-Star or 3-Star increases its duration, so run them through the Grading Store first. If you're still working out where cash should go, the Storage Hunters money guide covers the spend order.

How We Ranked These Mutations

This ladder isn't opinion. Mutations carry a published flat multiplier, so the sort is that multiplier, with tier breaks at 25x, 10x and 5x. Where two tie — Hologram and Seized at 15x, Chrome and Timeless at 12x — they share a tier and we flag which is event-locked. Anything you can't currently obtain is listed separately instead.

Every figure came from the community wiki's Mutations page and the data module behind it, read on September 4, 2026. That module was last edited on August 30, 2026, and its history is why we trust it: named editors, granular commits like "Correct Caustic to confirmed flat 30x multiplier" and "Fix Redacted multiplier (1,25 → 1.25 decimal typo)", and values marked pending until someone confirms them. Event timing was checked against the Roblox virtual-events feed for universe 10261267004 and the experience's own page.

Two single-game sites ranking for this query publish headline multipliers with no source. Both are registered through the same registrar behind Cloudflare, weeks after the game launched on June 2, 2026, so we took nothing from them and link neither. We also publish no rarity band for the standard pool, because the wiki publishes none.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best mutation in Storage Hunters: Open World?

Rainbow, at a 100x value multiplier — the largest figure the community wiki's mutation module lists for anything you can still roll as of September 4, 2026. Secret follows at 50x and Void at 35x. All three come out of the standard item pool, and the wiki publishes no roll chance for any standard mutation, so nobody can honestly tell you the odds. For scale, 555 accounts hold the Find Every Mutator badge against 21,492,740 holding the join badge.

Do Storage Hunters mutations stack by multiplying or by adding?

They multiply. The wiki's Mutations page states the rule outright and works the example: an item carrying Silver (2x) and Gold (4x) has a mutation multiplier of 8x, not 6x. The fan calculator built by two of that wiki's own editors implements the same product rule in its source. Several auto-generated aggregator pages claim mutations add instead, and they are wrong.

Can you still get the Alien Invasion mutations?

No. Probed (4x), Abducted (10x) and Extraterrestrial (25x) were exclusive to the Alien Invasion, which the wiki dates to August 16–30, 2026 and marked as ended in an edit timestamped August 30 at 00:47 UTC. The event no longer appears in the experience's live event feed as of September 4, 2026. If you did not roll them during those two weeks, no current activity produces them.

What is the Seized mutation worth in Storage Hunters?

15x, level with Hologram at the top of A tier. Seized and Redacted (1.25x) both arrived with the Police Event, and Roblox's own event listing runs the Police Raid from August 29 at 19:00 UTC to September 5 at 19:00 UTC. Neither has a documented roll chance — both wiki pages carry an information-needed tag on the odds.

How do you increase your mutation chance in Storage Hunters: Open World?

Gavel Trophies are the main lever. You win them from auctions, display them on your plot, and each one raises the chance that auction items turn up mutated. You can display three, or four with the Extra Gavel Trophy pass (449 Robux). Each trophy holds up to three mutations of its own, a single trophy tops out at a +250% mutation boost, and trophies carrying the same mutation stack with each other. Museum displays add Luck separately.

What is the Black mutation in Storage Hunters?

A mutation that exists in the game files but is not obtainable. The wiki's module lists its multiplier as "Unobtainable" rather than a number, and its page traces the first mention to a tester post in the developers' Discord. The page then offers a guess at where the multiplier might land, based on where Black sits between other mutations in the files. That is a guess, so this list gives Black no number and no tier.
