Universal Tower Defense X (UTDX) on Roblox has roughly 28 units spread across 5 rarity tiers, and knowing which ones actually carry their weight is the difference between clearing Ragnarok and getting wiped on wave 15. Update 2.75 dropped on May 1, 2026, adding two new event-exclusive units and reshuffling the meta in meaningful ways.
This tier list ranks every notable unit in UTDX based on raw DPS output, scaling into late waves, role versatility, and how they perform across Infinite mode, Ragnarok, and Main Story content. We've broken units into four roles — Raw DPS, Specialist, Utility, and Support — because the current meta is heavily role-driven. A team with five S-tier DPS units and zero support will still get walled. Composition matters as much as individual power.
Table of Contents
S Tier — Best Units in Universal Tower Defense X
These are the units that define the meta in Update 2.75. They carry runs, scale into the deepest waves, and show up in virtually every high-level composition. If you're pulling from the summon banner and you land one of these, you've hit gold.
First Emperor (Greatest)
First Emperor (Greatest) is the safest Specialist in UTDX right now. His burst damage output is among the highest in the game, and his scaling against high-HP enemies makes him a core pick in any boss-heavy content. When a Ragnarok boss appears with millions of HP, First Emperor shreds through it faster than almost any other unit in the roster.
What separates him from other DPS units is consistency. He doesn't need a specific team built around him to perform. Drop him on any map, pair him with a decent support, and he'll delete priority targets without much setup. He's been S-tier across multiple patches, and Update 2.75 didn't change that. If you only have resources to invest in one Specialist, this is the one.
King Sailor (Unrivaled)
King Sailor (Unrivaled) is a Mythic-rarity Control DPS with the Magi, King, and Hero traits. He deals Magic/Water hybrid damage and has a placement limit of 2, which keeps him balanced despite his absurd power. In the right hands, King Sailor controls entire lanes while putting out elite carry-level DPS.
The placement cap means you can't just spam him, but two King Sailors positioned correctly can lock down chokepoints that would otherwise require 3-4 lower-tier units. He pairs exceptionally well with Ancient Shinobi (Reawakened) for a double-carry setup that handles both wave clear and single-target burst. His Mythic rarity (0.5% summon rate) makes him hard to pull, but he's worth every Gem you spend chasing him.
Water God (Primordial)
Water God (Primordial) is the safest endgame pick in UTDX, and it isn't particularly close. As a Utility/DPS hybrid, Water God provides insane scaling that stays relevant deep into Infinite mode while also handling wave clear with consistent AoE damage. Most DPS units are either wave-focused or boss-focused. Water God does both.
His performance in Ragnarok is where he truly separates from the pack. While other units start falling off around wave 40-50, Water God's scaling curve keeps climbing. If you're building a team specifically for pushing Infinite records, Water God is the first unit you lock in and the last one you'd ever consider replacing.
The Strongest of Today
The Strongest of Today is a pure DPS monster. His raw damage output at max investment rivals anything in the game, and his kit is designed around controlling space while dealing massive AoE. He excels in scenarios where you need to clear dense waves quickly before they overwhelm your formation.
His main limitation is that he's a one-trick — damage and more damage. He doesn't bring utility, crowd control, or team buffs. But when your team already has those bases covered, slotting in The Strongest of Today gives you a damage ceiling that very few other units can match. He's a staple in speedrun compositions for Main Story content.
The Strongest in History
The Strongest in History fills a similar role to The Strongest of Today but with a different damage profile. Where Today focuses on AoE wave clear, History specializes in sustained single-target damage that melts through boss health bars. The two units complement each other perfectly and are often run together in high-level teams.
Running both carries in the same composition gives you complete damage coverage — History handles the boss phases while Today cleans up the mob waves between them. This dual-carry setup has been a staple of top-performing teams since the units were released, and Update 2.75 hasn't changed their status at the top.
Jinoo (Shadow Monarch)
Jinoo (Shadow Monarch) is one of the most sought-after DPS units in the game, partly because a Secret-rarity version exists at just a 0.00625% pull rate. Even the standard version hits hard enough to justify a permanent slot in most teams. His summoning-based kit gives him a unique playstyle where his damage ramps up over the course of a wave.
The Secret version is a whale's dream — same kit but with significantly boosted stats that push him from S-tier into borderline SS territory. Realistically, most players will never pull it. But the base Jinoo is still excellent and consistently outperforms A-tier units by a wide margin. For more ways to fund your summons, check our UTDX free Robux guide.
Ant King (Savage)
Ant King (Savage) has been S-tier for so long that newer players might assume he's been power-crept. He hasn't. His DPS output remains competitive with every unit released since, and his kit is straightforward enough that he doesn't require specific team synergies to perform. Drop him, upgrade him, and watch him work.
Ant King is the reliable workhorse of UTDX. He won't top the damage charts in a team full of fully-invested carries, but he'll never let you down either. His consistent performance across all content types — Main Story, Infinite, Ragnarok — makes him one of the most versatile DPS units you can own.
Additional S-Tier Picks
Three more units round out S-tier in Update 2.75. Ancient Shinobi (Reawakened) is an elite carry that pairs perfectly with King Sailor for dual-carry compositions. Crow Shinobi (Reanimated) puts out top-tier single-target damage that rivals The Strongest in History. And Ancient Mage (Sage) is a high-tier mage carry whose magic damage bypasses certain enemy resistances that physical DPS units struggle against.
The two newest S-tier entries come from the Brotherly Demons event in Update 2.75. Alpha Devil (Omega) is an event-exclusive flexible DPS from the Devil Capsule who fits into almost any team composition. Devil Hunter (Mercenary) slots into DoT/status teams where his damage-over-time effects stack with other status-applying units for devastating sustained damage. Both are only available during the event, so pull for them while you can.
A Tier — Excellent Units
A-tier units are strong picks that can carry content when invested properly. They fall short of S-tier because they're either slightly less versatile, require more specific team compositions to shine, or simply have lower damage ceilings. That said, an invested A-tier unit will outperform an underleveled S-tier unit every time.
Zora brings a combination of damage and utility that makes him one of the most flexible A-tier options. He's not going to match Water God's scaling in late Infinite waves, but for Main Story progression and mid-tier Ragnarok runs, he gets the job done reliably. His kit makes him particularly useful when you need a unit that can fill multiple roles without committing a full slot to each one.
Sasuke is a solid DPS pick with good burst damage and decent scaling. He performs best in teams that can keep enemies grouped, allowing his AoE to hit maximum targets. In scattered wave patterns, his effectiveness drops compared to S-tier DPS units, which is the main reason he sits in A-tier rather than above.
Ace rounds out the A-tier lineup with strong single-target performance. He's a reliable boss-killer for players who haven't pulled First Emperor or The Strongest in History. If you're working with a limited roster, Ace can hold down the boss-damage role until you upgrade to an S-tier replacement.
B Tier — Good Units
B-tier units serve a clear purpose: they help you farm gold efficiently in Main Story content and provide functional damage during the early-to-mid stages of your account progression. These units are where most free-to-play players will spend their early game, and that's perfectly fine.
The value of B-tier units decreases noticeably at higher stages. Once you start pushing Infinite mode past wave 30 or attempting Ragnarok, you'll feel the gap between B-tier and S-tier. Their scaling simply can't keep up with the HP pools that enemies develop in late content. Think of them as stepping stones rather than permanent investments.
If you're currently running B-tier units in your main composition, focus your Gems on the summon banner and aim for the Legendary pity at 50 rolls (2,500 Gems) to start upgrading. Don't waste enhancement materials on B-tier units beyond what's needed to clear your current content. Check our UTDX codes page for free Gems and resources that can speed up your progression.
C Tier — Average Units
C-tier units have underwhelming base stats and get replaced quickly as you pull better options from the summon banner. They're functional in the early game — stages 1 through roughly 10 of Main Story — but you should be actively working to move past them.
The biggest trap with C-tier units is spending resources upgrading them because you don't have anything better yet. Resist that urge. The resources you burn on a C-tier unit could fully upgrade an S-tier unit later. Run them at base level, clear what you can, and funnel every Gem into summoning until you land something from A-tier or above.
Support Tier List
Support units don't get the flashy damage numbers, but they're the backbone of every serious UTDX team. A team of S-tier DPS units without proper support will hit a wall far earlier than a team of A-tier DPS units with S-tier supports. Here's how the support roster stacks up in Update 2.75.
Virtual Idol (S-Tier Support)
Virtual Idol is the single most important support unit in UTDX. She buffs both damage and range simultaneously — the only support unit in the game that does this from a single slot. Every high-level composition runs her. Every tier list puts her at the top of the support rankings. That's because the dual buff she provides is worth more than any two other support units combined.
If you're deciding between pulling for a new DPS unit or investing in Virtual Idol, invest in Virtual Idol. A maxed Virtual Idol will boost every DPS unit you ever run, while a new DPS unit only boosts your damage by one slot. She's a permanent pick in your team from the moment you get her until the game shuts down. No exaggeration.
Love Goddess (S-Tier Support)
Love Goddess is the second core support unit that shows up in nearly every endgame composition. Her buffs stack with Virtual Idol's, which means running both gives your DPS carries a massive combined boost. She's slightly less impactful than Virtual Idol because she doesn't provide the range component, but her damage amplification is among the highest in the support roster.
Ice Empress (Frost) (A-Tier Support)
Ice Empress (Frost) is a CC/support hybrid that fills a unique niche. Her crowd control effects slow enemies, giving your DPS units more time to deal damage before enemies reach the end of the path. In Infinite mode, where wave speed ramps up significantly at higher waves, that slow effect becomes increasingly valuable. She's not mandatory like Virtual Idol, but she's the best defensive support option available.
Bambee (Blitz) (A-Tier Support)
Bambee (Blitz) is a critical team enabler that shines in compositions built around crit-stacking. If your DPS units have high crit multipliers, Bambee's buffs can push your team's effective DPS well above what raw attack buffs would provide. She's more niche than Virtual Idol or Love Goddess, but in the right team, she's just as impactful.
Two additional support units deserve mention. Bulmo provides support and economy benefits, helping you generate gold faster during runs — a subtle but significant advantage in longer content. Fastcart fills a similar support/farm role, speeding up your resource generation early in a run so you can deploy and upgrade your carries faster. How We Ranked These Units
Our rankings are based on four core factors: raw DPS output (how much damage the unit deals per second at max investment), scaling (how well that damage holds up in late Infinite waves and Ragnarok), role versatility (whether the unit handles multiple content types or only excels in one), and team dependency (whether the unit needs specific supports or compositions to reach its potential).
We tested each unit across three content modes: Main Story (stages 1-30), Infinite mode (waves 1-100+), and Ragnarok. Units were evaluated at comparable investment levels to keep the comparison fair. A unit that only performs well when fully maxed with Secret-rarity dupes wasn't ranked higher than a unit that performs consistently at normal investment levels.
The support tier list was evaluated separately because supports don't compete for the same slots as DPS units. You're not choosing between Virtual Idol and Water God — you're running both. Support rankings reflect how much they amplify your overall team's output rather than their individual contribution. Virtual Idol sits at the top because the combined damage + range buff provides more effective DPS gain than any other single support slot.
We also factored in accessibility. A Secret-rarity unit with a 0.00625% pull rate is objectively harder to obtain than a Legendary at 2.0%. Jinoo's Secret version is stronger than his base form, but we ranked based on what most players can realistically acquire. The pity system guarantees a Legendary every 50 pulls and a Mythic every 400 pulls, so those rarity tiers are where most free-to-play investment ends up.

Frequently Asked Questions
As of May 2026 (Update 2.75), Water God (Primordial) is widely considered the safest overall pick. It scales incredibly well in both Infinite and Ragnarok modes, handles waves and bosses equally, and provides consistent damage output at every stage of the game. First Emperor (Greatest) and King Sailor (Unrivaled) are close behind for specialized roles.
The summoning rates in UTDX are: Secret 0.00625%, Mythic 0.5%, Legendary 2.0%, Epic 16.0%, and Rare is the common drop. A single summon costs 50 Gems, and a 10x summon costs 500 Gems. The pity system guarantees a Legendary after 50 rolls and a Mythic after 400 rolls.
Virtual Idol is one of the best support units in UTDX. It buffs both damage and range simultaneously, which is extremely rare for a single support slot. It's considered a permanent pick in most high-level compositions and pairs well with every DPS carry in the game. If you only level one support unit, make it Virtual Idol.
As of Update 2.75 in May 2026, Universal Tower Defense X has approximately 28 units across all rarities. This includes the two newest additions, Devil Hunter (Mercenary) and Alpha Devil (Omega), which were added as event-exclusive units during the Brotherly Demons event. More units are expected with Update 3.0.
UTDX has a two-tier pity system. You're guaranteed a Legendary unit after 50 rolls (2,500 Gems) and a Mythic unit after 400 rolls (20,000 Gems). There is no pity for Secret-rarity units. The pity counter resets each time you hit the threshold, so plan your Gem spending accordingly.
Update 3.0 for Universal Tower Defense X is scheduled for May 15, 2026. The current version is Update 2.75, which launched on May 1, 2026 and added the Devil Hunter and Alpha Devil units from the Brotherly Demons event. Expect significant meta shifts when 3.0 drops.
