Anime Overload Tier List (2026) — Best Units Ranked
Anime Overload by Hi-Fun Interactive has grown to over 13.7 million visits since launch, and the unit pool has gotten deep enough that pulling randomly and hoping for the best is a real waste of Crystal Shards. This tier list covers every relevant unit as of May 2026, ranked on actual performance across Infinite mode, Raids, and standard wave content after Update 0.75.
Rankings are based on damage output, synergy potential, and how each unit holds up at max evolution. A unit that looks mediocre at base can be completely different story in its final form, so we're always evaluating evolved versions here. Let's get into it.
Table of Contents
S Tier — Best Units in Anime Overload
These three units define the current meta. If you're building toward endgame, these are who you want. The gap between S and A is real, though not insurmountable with good synergy below.
1. Strongest Alien (Burst Evolution) — Magic / DPS
Strongest Alien is the undisputed top unit in the game right now. His passive scales damage with each consecutive hit, and at max stats you're looking at 100,000+ damage per hit — numbers that nothing else in the roster consistently matches. His Burst Evolution ultimate hits the entire map, making him equally useful in clutch single-target situations and chaotic wave-clear moments. The guaranteed crits on top of everything else make him the obvious first priority for any Mythic pull.
Pull rate is 0.5% Mythic with pity at 150 pulls (7,500 Crystal Shards). If you hit his pity, he's worth every shard.
2. Sokono (Domain Evolution) — Magic-Fire / DPS
Sokono sits just behind Strongest Alien and it's not a comfortable gap for anyone who doesn't have the top spot locked. His Domain Evolution ability flat-out ignores enemy shields, which makes him indispensable in late-game stages where shielded elites start appearing in large numbers. High crit stacking combined with Bleed and an enemy slow makes him one of the most well-rounded units in the roster.
The Bleed and slow combo also gives your other units more time to fire, effectively amplifying your whole team's DPS. He's a Mythic gacha pull, so expect to spend shards, but the pity system means you won't wait forever.
3. Bald Hero (Super Serious Evolution) — Physical / DPS / Boss Killer
Bald Hero is the specialist you want for boss stages. His stackable crit multiplier builds specifically against boss-type enemies, and his Super Serious Evolution ultimate wipes the entire map on activation. There's an argument he's overtuned at the moment — Hi-Fun Interactive has been watching his numbers and a balance pass isn't out of the question. Use him hard while the meta allows it.
He's another Mythic gacha unit. If you already have Strongest Alien and want a boss-killing specialist, Bald Hero is the logical second pull.
A Tier — Excellent Units
A-tier units are full meta picks. They won't feel like a downgrade in most content, and some of them shine in specific modes even over S tier.
Crimson Queen (Dominant Evolution) — Dark / DPS / Bleed
Crimson Queen has a passive that stacks damage up to +60% over the course of a fight, and she hits +120% Crit Chance whenever she's affected by status effects. Her persistent Bleed debuff does both damage over time and synergizes with other units that benefit from enemies being in a debuffed state. She's available at Mythic or Legendary rarity.
Red Hair (Conqueror Evolution) — Magic-Physical / DPS / CC
Red Hair brings high base damage plus a Stun-inflicting passive that disrupts enemy movement patterns. The Knockback combined with Crushed and Stunned effects essentially gives your whole team free attack windows. He fills the CC slot in your endgame team and does it without sacrificing personal damage output. Mythic gacha.
Igrus (Arise Evolution) — Magic / Flex DPS
Igrus is the unit you want in Infinite runs and Raids specifically. His CC effects and boss-focused Crit Multiplier scaling make him a different animal in long-form content compared to standard waves. He pairs exceptionally well with Song Jinuu — the two of them together form one of the stronger two-unit combos in the game. Mythic gacha.
Song Jinuu (Necromancer Evolution) — Magic-Dark / Hybrid DPS
Song Jinuu got a meaningful buff in Update 0.75. His ultimate has a short cooldown and hits hard, and the Igrus synergy gives him a context where he genuinely excels. Before 0.75 he was on the fringe of A and B — the buff pushed him solidly into A. Mythic gacha.
B Tier — Good Units
B tier is where you'll find strong units that got nerfed, have a more specific use case, or are just a step behind the top two tiers in raw output.
Jaken Hunter (Adult Evolution) — DPS / CC
Jaken Hunter was A tier before his nerf but he's still a genuinely good unit. His Adult Evolution adds a Stun and a solid Crit Multiplier. The nerf cut into his ceiling but didn't eliminate the kit's usefulness. If you pulled him before the nerf and already evolved him, don't bench him — he's still a contributing member in most team comps. Legendary/Mythic gacha.
Cha-Hain (Pristine Evolution) — True-Physical / Bleed Specialist
Cha-Hain is one of the best Bleed specialists in the roster. Her Flow State mechanic cuts cooldowns and boosts crit simultaneously, and her boss-dodge ability genuinely extends her survivability in modes where units can be targeted. She requires more active attention to play well than most units, but the output justifies it. Legendary/Mythic gacha.
Chain Man (Psychotic Evolution) — Physical / DPS
Chain Man hits hard in his Psychotic form and brings consistent Bleed on top of the raw damage. He's straightforward compared to some of the more complex kits higher in the tier list. Legendary gacha, which makes him more accessible to players who haven't hit Mythic pity yet.
Choy (Ultimate Weapon Evolution) — Fire / DPS
Choy has a unique mechanic: you can deploy up to 4 copies simultaneously, which creates a Burn stacking opportunity that few other units can replicate. In wave content where enemies cluster, 4 Choys applying Burn is a different damage profile than a single strong DPS unit. The ceiling isn't as high as S or A tier, but the multi-copy deployment is worth knowing about. Legendary gacha.
C Tier — Situational Units
C tier units aren't useless. They have specific stages or team comps where they pull weight. You just wouldn't build around them for general content.
Goju (Unlimited Evolution) — Magic / Control / Debuffer
Goju reduces enemy buffs, slows movement, and his kit ignores shields — which sounds great on paper. The problem is Sokono does most of that while also dealing serious damage. Goju's value is purely as a control/debuff layer in stages that specifically punish you for not having those tools. Legendary gacha.
Devil Knight — DPS / Buffer
Devil Knight buffs physical and dark units within range. If you're running a team heavy on physical and dark types, he provides a niche multiplier that compounds other units' output. Outside that specific team structure, he doesn't justify a slot. Legendary gacha.
Death Surgeon (Operation Evolution) — Magic / CC / DoT
Death Surgeon brings Slow and Cripple effects with a Damage over Time component. Against dense waves he performs reasonably well, but he falls apart against bosses. His role can usually be covered by better options in the meta. Legendary gacha.
Essential Farm Unit: Eskanor
Eskanor doesn't deal impressive damage. That's not his job. He's an economy unit, and gold income in long Infinite runs and Raids is genuinely essential for keeping upgrades on pace with wave scaling. Run him in every endgame team. He's a Legendary gacha pull, and most players have him already by the time they're doing serious endgame content.

Best Traits in Anime Overload
Traits are the secondary layer on top of unit quality. Even a strong unit with a bad trait underperforms — and a great trait on the right unit can change the meta conversation entirely.
| Trait | Rating | Stats | Drop Rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overloaded | S+ | +250% DMG, +50% Range, -15% SPA, -5% Costs | 0.1% |
| Voidborn | S | +20% DMG, -20% SPA, +60% Range, +20% Crit | Rare |
| Radiant | S | +25% Upgrade Cost Reduction, +30% DMG, +25% Crit Chance | 0.6% |
| Nullshot | A | +65% Crit Chance, +20% Crit DMG, +7.5% Range | Uncommon |
| Blind Rage | B | +12.5% DMG, -20% SPA | 3% |
Overloaded is in a class by itself. The +250% damage multiplier at a 0.1% drop rate makes it genuinely rare — most players will never naturally pull it. If you're farming traits specifically, Radiant at 0.6% is a realistic target that still dramatically improves any unit. Nullshot is underrated for crit-stacking builds like Crimson Queen.
How We Ranked These Units
Rankings here aren't based on a single clear or a highlight clip. Units were evaluated across Infinite mode runs, Raid content, and standard wave stages over multiple sessions using max-evolution versions of each unit. Where possible, testing was done with and without meta synergy partners to isolate individual unit performance.
A few factors that influenced rankings significantly: shield-breaking utility moves units up because shielded enemies are increasingly common at higher wave counts. CC that actually interrupts elite movement patterns matters more than raw slow. Boss-multiplier mechanics are weighted heavily in S and A tier because boss stages are the primary bottleneck in endgame progression.
Update 0.75 changed Song Jinuu's cooldown values enough to warrant moving him up from the B/A border, and Jaken Hunter's nerf knocked him from A to B. The table reflects the current patch state as of May 8, 2026. Check the Anime Overload hub page for updates when patches drop.

Frequently Asked Questions
Strongest Alien (Burst Evolution) is the top unit as of May 2026. His passive scales damage per hit up to 100,000+ at max stats, his ultimate hits the entire map, and he has guaranteed crits. Bald Hero is the strongest alternative specifically for boss content.
Each gacha pull costs 50 Crystal Shards. Mythic units have a 0.5% base drop rate. Pity triggers at 150 pulls, guaranteeing a Mythic — that's 7,500 Crystal Shards total. There's also a Secret unit pity at 8,000 pulls.
Overloaded is the best trait in the game, offering +250% damage, +50% range, -15% SPA, and -5% upgrade costs. It drops at 0.1% so it's extremely rare. Voidborn and Radiant (0.6% drop) are the realistic best-in-slot alternatives for most players.
Yes, Sokono is still firmly S tier after Update 0.75. His Domain Evolution's shield-ignoring mechanic is more valuable than ever as shielded enemies appear more frequently at high wave counts. He didn't receive any nerfs in the update.
For standard waves, no. For Infinite mode and Raids, yes. Eskanor's gold income keeps upgrade pacing on track during long sessions where wave scaling outpaces your resources otherwise. Most experienced players include him in every endgame team composition.
The recommended endgame team as of May 2026 is Strongest Alien + Sokono (or Bald Hero) + Crimson Queen + Eskanor + Red Hair. This covers scaling DPS, shield-breaking, Bleed synergy, economy, and CC in a single composition. For Raid content specifically, swapping Red Hair for Igrus and pairing him with Song Jinuu is worth considering.
