This is the complete Anime Vanguards ranking as the official wiki publishes it — the Overall Top 8 plus all four role lists, with every unit's rarity and where it actually comes from. The tier list is written by the Anime Vanguards Wiki Team and was last edited on August 17, 2026. If your list still opens with Savior (Moonless), it predates Update 14.5 and the entire top of the meta has turned over since.
Live from the Roblox API on August 26, 2026 (universe 5578556129): 9,666 concurrent players and 2,023,861,873 visits, with 2,582,534 likes against 87,094 dislikes. The live experience is titled Anime Vanguards: 25th Hour; the current update is 14.5 "25th Hour", shipped August 10, 2026 by Kitawari — the full patch notes are on our update log.

The Overall Top 8
The wiki's Overall tab opens with a "Top 8" container holding eight units, ordered best to worst. Five of the eight arrived on August 10, 2026 with the 25th Hour update, which is why almost every tier list published before mid-August is now describing a different game. Release dates below come from each unit's own history section; rarities come from the official Unit List.
| # | Unit | Rarity | Where it comes from | Released |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Apathetic Savior (Door) | Secret | Dungeons | August 10, 2026 |
| 2 | Rebel Fighter (Gauntlet) | Secret | Worldlines — flagged limited | August 10, 2026 |
| 3 | History's Strongest | Vanguard | Seasonal Banner — flagged limited | June 21, 2026 |
| 4 | Goblin Killer (Trapper) | Exclusive | Exclusive Shop | August 24, 2025 |
| 5 | Phantom Thief (Jester) | Secret | Dungeon | August 10, 2026 |
| 6 | Investigation Leader (Truth) | Mythic | Dungeon | August 10, 2026 |
| 7 | Star Crusader (Platinum) | Exclusive | Battlepass — flagged limited | August 10, 2026 |
| 8 | Elastic Captain (Cog 5th) | Vanguard | Special Banner | May 31, 2026 |
Three of these are flagged limited on the tier list itself — Rebel Fighter (Gauntlet), History's Strongest and Star Crusader (Platinum) — so they are on a clock. The most reachable entry by a wide margin is Investigation Leader (Truth), the only Mythic in the group, and note how few of these are gacha units at all: five of the eight come from Dungeons, Worldlines, the Battlepass or the Exclusive Shop rather than a Gem banner. Our free Robux guide works through what that means for spending.
Goblin Killer (Trapper) is the odd one out on dates: it originally released on August 24, 2025 and was made obtainable again through the Exclusive Shop on June 22, 2026. For curated picks and the trait each unit wants, see our best units page.

The Rarity Ladder
Anime Vanguards has exactly seven rarities, and the official Unit List catalogues 434 units across them as listed on August 26, 2026: Rare (10), Epic (12), Legendary (10), Mythic (138), Exclusive (133), Secret (114) and Vanguard (17). That is the whole ladder.
There is no "God" rarity and no "Common" rarity. "God", "God (Above Heaven)" and "God (Standless)" are the names of individual units, all sitting at Secret — God (Standless) is ranked sixth on Crowd Control above and is itself no longer obtainable. There is also no "Vampire" trait: the eleven traits are Monarch, Ethereal, Deadeye, Solar, Blitz, Fortune, Marksman, Scholar, Vigor, Swift and Range. "Vampire" belongs to Alocard's unit name and to Vampire's Seal, his exclusive Vanguard familiar. Our Monarch guide covers the rarest of those traits and what it costs.
What Older Tier Lists Get Wrong
Divalo (Requiem) cannot be obtained. It was the first Vanguard-rarity unit in the game, released November 22, 2024 on the Occult Banner. The wiki flags its page "no longer obtainable" and dates that to February 2, 2025, the day Update 3.5 Corrupting Darkness shipped. It was genuinely strong; it is not something a new account can chase, and the version of this page we published before today told you to build around it.
Alocard's rarity upgrade is real — the recommendation was not. Alocard and Alocard (Vampire King) were the first units in the game to have their rarity changed, moving from Secret to Vanguard in Update 11.0 on February 27, 2026. That is corroborated twice on the wiki, including a note on the summon-rates page explaining why he sits at a 0.004% Special Banner rate instead of the usual 0.005% for Vanguards. His exclusive Vampire's Seal familiar really does raise the Wounded damage bonus from 20% to 35%. What was wrong was the present tense: he is a good support unit, not one of the two strongest units in the game.
Six units in our old list do not exist. Kira (Light), Goku (Ultra), Naruto (Sage), Luffy (Base), Ichigo (Substitute) and Deku (Full Cowl) return no unit page on the official wiki. Anime Vanguards uses altered parody names throughout — the equivalents are Roku, Noruto, Ichiga, Elastic Captain and Traitless. "Kira (Light)" returns no results at all. If a tier list names characters exactly as their source anime does, that is the fastest signal it was not written from the game.
"The Smith (John)" is two different units. The Smith is a Mythic released August 24, 2025. Smith John is a Secret released May 5, 2025, and it is the one that matters — fourth on the Utility list above. Merging them produced a unit with neither one's real kit.

Frequently Asked Questions
Only as a support pick, not as a top-tier carry. The Update 11.0 rework on February 27, 2026 that moved Alocard from Secret to Vanguard rarity is real, and his exclusive Vampire's Seal familiar genuinely raises the Wounded damage bonus from 20% to 35%. But on the official wiki tier list edited August 17, 2026 he sits seventh on the Support list and ninth on Crowd Control, and he is not in the Top 8 group at all. Older guides calling him one of the two strongest units in the game are describing the meta as it stood before Update 14.5.
No. Divalo (Requiem) was the first Vanguard-rarity unit in the game, released on November 22, 2024, but the official wiki flags its page "no longer obtainable" and dates that change to February 2, 2025 - the day Update 3.5 Corrupting Darkness shipped. No banner, shop or pity path sells it now, so any tier list that tells you to chase Divalo is pointing you at a unit you cannot acquire at any price.
Apathetic Savior (Door), a Secret-rarity unit added on August 10, 2026 with Update 14.5. It leads the wiki's Overall Top 8 group and also tops the Utility, Support and Crowd Control lists. It comes from Dungeons rather than the Gem banner. Savior (Moonless), which most older tier lists still rank first, now sits fifth on the Utility list.
