Fish It has grown into one of Roblox's most serious fishing simulators, and the rod you're holding makes all the difference. We've spent dozens of hours testing every rod available as of April 2026 — from the humble Starter Rod you spawn with to the jaw-dropping Diamond Rod that arrived in the March 2026 update. This tier list reflects real in-game performance across luck, speed, and weight capacity, not just raw numbers on a stat sheet.
Whether you're just starting out or grinding for that endgame Secret-rarity rod, you'll find exactly what's worth your time here. We've also flagged which gamepass rods are a waste of Robux and which free alternatives beat them outright. Check our Fish It codes page for freebies you can grab right now, and if you want Robux for upgrades, our Fish It free Robux guide covers the fastest ways to stack coins without spending real money.
These two rods sit in their own category. Nothing else in Fish It comes close on raw stats, and both require significant time investment to unlock — which is exactly what makes getting them feel so satisfying.
The Diamond Rod is the undisputed best rod in Fish It as of April 2026. It arrived in the March 2026 update and immediately flipped every previous tier list on its head. The stats are staggering: 1300% Luck, 167% Speed, and a 1,000,000 kg weight capacity. That last number means you won't miss a single fish due to weight restrictions — ever. To get it, you need to complete the Diamond Researcher quest, which is a multi-step grind but absolutely worth every minute. In our testing, switching to the Diamond Rod from a Mythic-tier rod roughly doubled the rate at which rare fish appeared.
The only downside is availability. The quest chain requires late-game progression, so newer players will have to work through several tiers before they're even eligible to start it. If you've got the Diamond Rod, you've essentially reached the ceiling of what Fish It currently offers.
The Element Rod is the second Secret-rarity rod in Fish It and the only other rod that belongs in the same conversation as the Diamond Rod. It offers 1111% Luck and 130% Speed, unlocked through the Underground Cellar quest at the Ancient Jungle biome. While it trails the Diamond Rod on every stat, those numbers still obliterate anything in the tiers below. In our experience, the Underground Cellar quest is actually more approachable than the Diamond Researcher chain, making the Element Rod a realistic target for dedicated mid-to-late-game players.
If you've got the Element Rod and haven't completed the Diamond Researcher quest yet, you're in a perfectly strong position. Don't feel pressured to rush — the Element Rod handles all endgame content with ease.
S Tier holds the best Mythic-rarity rods in the game. These aren't replacements for S+ — but for most players who haven't reached Secret rarity yet, this is where you want to land. Each rod here outperforms everything below by a meaningful margin.
The Bamboo Rod is the strongest Mythic rod on luck, sitting at 760% with 98% Speed. It costs $12,000,000 in-game currency at the Ancient Jungle shop, which is a steep ask, but the stats justify it. Among everything below S+, the Bamboo Rod is your best pure-luck option for grinding rare fish. We tested it across multiple sessions at the Deep Sea & Ancient Jungle locations and consistently saw better pull rates than any A-Tier rod.
The Ghostfinn Rod brings 610% Luck and 118% Speed, which makes it one of the faster options in this tier. You earn it by completing the Deep Sea quest chain rather than buying it outright. The higher speed stat is genuinely useful for farming volume quickly — more throws per minute means more chances at rare fish even if the luck number is lower than the Bamboo Rod. If you're the type of player who values efficiency over sitting at max luck, the Ghostfinn Rod is worth prioritizing.
The Angler Rod offers 530% Luck and 71% Speed. It's available at the Lost Isle shop for $8,000,000. The speed is the lowest of the Mythic tier, so pairing it with a speed-boosting bait helps smooth that out. Still, 530% Luck puts it well ahead of A-Tier options, and it's a natural stepping stone between the Ares Rod and the top Mythics.
The Ares Rod rounds out S Tier with 455% Luck and 56% Speed. At $3,000,000 from Tropical Grove, it's the most accessible Mythic rod in this list. For players transitioning out of A Tier, this is often the first rod that genuinely feels like a leap in power. The speed is low, but the luck jump over A-Tier options is large enough that it's still the right upgrade path.
A-Tier rods are strong mid-to-late-game options that will carry you comfortably until you save up for a Mythic. None of them are bad choices — they're just waiting rooms for S Tier.
The Astral Rod is the standout in A Tier, primarily because enchantments push it to roughly 400% effective luck. It's available in the main shop for $1,000,000, which is achievable well before you'd have the $3,000,000 for the Ares Rod. The base stats aren't headline-grabbing, but once you stack a Leprechaun II enchantment on it, the Astral Rod punches meaningfully above its price bracket. It's our recommended upgrade target for players who've just moved past the mid-game grind.
The Hazmat Rod is a Legendary with 380% Luck and 32% Speed. It comes from the Traveling Merchant, which means availability isn't guaranteed — you'll need to check back regularly. The speed is the lowest in A Tier, but 380% Luck is hard to argue with at this rarity level. If the Traveling Merchant shows up with it while you're saving for a Mythic, it's worth grabbing.
The Chrome Rod is an Epic-rarity rod that earns its A-Tier placement through an impressive 229% Luck and a 190,000 kg weight capacity. The weight capacity is particularly valuable in mid-game biomes where large fish would otherwise snap your line. It doesn't have the luck ceiling of the Legendary options, but the balance of stats makes it a reliable daily driver while you're farming currency for something better.
B-Tier rods are perfectly usable for the middle stretch of the game. They won't win any awards, but they'll get you to A Tier if you're patient.
The Fluorescent Rod is the best option in B Tier, with 300% Luck, 23% Speed, and a 160,000 kg capacity. At $715,000, it's the most expensive rod in this bracket — but worth every coin if you're not yet ready for the Astral Rod. The weight capacity sits higher than most rods at this tier, which reduces frustrating failed catches. Speed is low, so don't expect blazing-fast sessions, but steady progress is absolutely achievable with it.
The Lucky Rod is the best free rod in Fish It, and it deserves more recognition. It gives 130% Luck without requiring any gamepass purchase, which makes it the obvious choice for players who haven't — or won't — spend Robux on the game. What makes it genuinely notable is that the paid Hyper Rod gamepass also delivers 130% Luck. You're getting identical performance for free. Always use the Lucky Rod before considering any gamepass rod purchase.
The Damascus Rod offers solid early-game luck but carries a noticeably slow cast speed. It's a decent bridge between the Starter Rod and more capable options, but you won't stay on it long. Use it to build up currency while you're targeting the Fluorescent Rod or Lucky Rod.
The Lava Rod is a free rod from the Lava Fisherman NPC at Kohana Volcano. It has a 100 kg weight capacity, which is extremely limiting — you'll frequently fail catches on anything but small fish. The luck stats aren't competitive with mid-game options, but it costs nothing, which earns it a C rather than a D. If you've just started and haven't unlocked better options yet, it'll do for a session or two. The moment you have $715,000 for the Fluorescent Rod or access to the Lucky Rod, the Lava Rod should be retired.
The Starter Rod has zero luck stats and a 10 kg weight capacity. It's what you spawn with and nothing more. The 10 kg cap means you'll fail catches constantly, and the absence of any luck modifier makes rare fish essentially impossible to pull. Your first goal in Fish It should be replacing this rod as fast as possible. Even the Damascus Rod or Lava Rod is a meaningful upgrade from day one.

Our ranking methodology weighs three core stats: Luck percentage, which directly affects how often rare & Secret-rarity fish appear; Speed, which determines how quickly you can complete a cast-and-reel cycle; and Weight capacity, which sets the maximum size of fish you can successfully land. A rod with great luck but terrible weight capacity will still cost you catches on large fish, so we treat all three as meaningful rather than prioritizing luck alone.
We also factored in how each rod is obtained. A rod that requires a challenging quest chain is weighted more favorably than one you simply purchase, because difficulty reflects the power ceiling the developers intended. Conversely, a rod that costs Robux but underperforms free alternatives loses ranking points for poor value. That's why the gamepass rods don't appear anywhere in A Tier or above despite costing real money.
Finally, we tested bait & enchantment interactions. The best baits in the game right now are Singularity Bait for pure luck, followed by Aether Bait and Dark Matter Bait. For enchantments, Leprechaun II adds a flat 50% Luck, Big Hunter I improves fish size by 10%, Cursed I trades 75% Luck for a 75% Mutation Chance boost (useful for targeted farming), and Prismatic I reduces the throws needed to trigger a Rainbow Boost. These combinations were tested across multiple biomes & rod tiers to confirm the numbers you're seeing above.

As of April 2026, the Diamond Rod is the best rod in the game. It has 1300% Luck, 167% Speed, and a 1,000,000 kg weight capacity. You get it by completing the Diamond Researcher quest, which was added in the March 2026 update.
The Lucky Rod is the best rod you can get without spending Robux on gamepasses. It offers 130% Luck and matches the paid Hyper Rod gamepass exactly. There's no reason to buy a gamepass rod when the Lucky Rod performs identically for free.
Generally, no. The Hyper Rod gamepass gives you 130% Luck, which is identical to the free Lucky Rod. The Angelic and Gold Rods are also outclassed by rods you can earn in-game without spending Robux. Save your Robux for something that actually gives you an edge.
Singularity Bait is the strongest bait in Fish It for pure luck. Aether Bait and Dark Matter Bait are solid alternatives when Singularity Bait isn't available. All three are worth using with any rod in A Tier or above.
Leprechaun II is the best all-around enchantment, adding a flat 50% Luck to your rod. Big Hunter I helps with fish size if you're chasing large catches. Cursed I is useful specifically if you're farming mutations — it trades 75% Luck for a 75% boost to Mutation Chance, which is a worthwhile swap for that specific goal.
The Diamond Rod was introduced in the March 2026 update alongside the Diamond Researcher quest chain. It immediately became the top rod in the game due to its 1300% Luck and 1,000,000 kg weight capacity — stats that no other rod comes close to matching.
