Murder Mystery 2 is one of the longest-running hit games on Roblox, developed by Nikilis and past 30.4 billion lifetime visits as of September 13, 2026, from a January 2014 launch. Every round assigns you one of three roles — Murderer, Sheriff, or Innocent — and the tension of figuring out who is holding the knife never gets old. With over 1,000 collectible knives and guns, a deep trading economy, and a perks system that rewards smart play, MM2 has kept millions of players coming back for over a decade.

This guide breaks down role-specific strategies, the eight-tier item rarity system, the Powers shop with real prices, trading rules, the Summer 2026 event, and practical tips for winning more rounds. We also briefly touch on how Earnaldo lets players earn free Robux, but the focus here is on the game itself. If you play other Roblox titles, check out our guides for Blox Fruits, Adopt Me, and Rivals.

1. Murder Mystery 2 Overview — the Numbers in September 2026

Murder Mystery 2 (commonly called MM2) is a social deduction game that drops 12 players into a map and assigns them hidden roles. One player becomes the Murderer with a knife. One becomes the Sheriff with a gun. The remaining 10 are Innocents who must survive. The Murderer wins by eliminating everyone. The Sheriff and Innocents win by taking down the Murderer — or simply surviving until time runs out.

The concept sounds straightforward, but the depth comes from the mind games. The Murderer needs to blend in with the crowd before striking. The Sheriff needs to read body language and positioning to identify the killer. Innocents need to stay mobile, gather clues, and avoid both the Murderer's blade and accidental crossfire. Every round plays out differently, which is why MM2 has held a large player base for more than 12 years.

A word on that player count, because it is the number most MM2 articles get wrong — including the earlier version of this page. A single reading pulled at a quiet hour is not the game's size, but neither is a median that straddles the end of a month-long event. The Summer 2026 event carried MM2 to 913,238 concurrent players on August 20, 2026. Then the event ended on August 23 and the count fell off a cliff inside six hours: our radar read 908,888 at 19:30 UTC on August 23 and 329,999 at 01:30 UTC on August 24. Averaging across that boundary produces a figure that describes neither state, so the honest post-event number is measured only from August 24 onward. Our first clean post-event window (August 24–27) put that at roughly 308,000. Two further weeks of readings have settled it lower again: 278,700 across August 27 to September 3, and now 258,000 across 28 readings from September 6 to September 13, 2026, ranging between 124,366 and 405,694. Three consecutive clean weeks, each lower than the last — 308,000, then 278,700, then 258,000 — is a decay curve rather than noise, and it is the shape a very large event leaves behind. Both the floor and the ceiling stay wide, which is what a normal weekday/weekend cycle looks like once an event is no longer flattening it. That is still one of the largest concurrent counts on Roblox — it is simply not a million any more.

The game is entirely free to play. Cosmetic knives and guns look incredible but don't change gameplay — a Common knife kills just as fast as a Godly one. That said, collecting rare items and building a valuable inventory through trading is a massive part of the MM2 experience for long-term players.

2. The 3 Roles Explained — Murderer, Sheriff & Innocent

Understanding each role is the foundation of playing MM2 well. Roles are assigned randomly at the start of every round, so you can't main a single role. You need to be comfortable in all three.

Murderer

The Murderer is handed a knife roughly 10 seconds after the round begins, not on the opening whistle — so the first few seconds tell you nothing about who is who. Your goal is to eliminate every other player before time runs out or the Sheriff takes you down. You can throw the knife at range or use it in melee. After a kill, you need to retrieve your knife (it returns to you after a short delay). The Murderer wins if all other players are eliminated.

The key challenge is staying hidden. Every player can see each other's names, but only the Murderer and Sheriff know their own roles. If you pull out your knife in front of a group, the Sheriff will shoot you. If you're too aggressive early, players will call you out in the chat. Patience and deception are your strongest weapons.

Sheriff

The Sheriff receives a gun with a single purpose: shoot the Murderer. If the Sheriff shoots an Innocent by mistake, both the Sheriff and the Innocent die — it is a double loss, not just a wasted bullet. The gun also reloads after every single shot and is not especially accurate at range, so it rewards mid-range and close-quarters shooting rather than picking targets off across a map.

If the Sheriff dies (whether shot by their own mistake or killed by the Murderer), the gun drops. Any Innocent can then pick it up and become the "Hero" — essentially taking over the Sheriff role for the rest of the round. This mechanic creates dramatic late-round moments where an Innocent grabs the dropped gun and makes a last-stand shot.

Innocent

Innocents have no weapons. Your job is to survive. You win if the Sheriff eliminates the Murderer, if the timer runs out, or if you pick up a dropped gun and take out the Murderer yourself. Along the way, you can collect coins scattered around the map to use on mystery boxes between rounds.

While Innocents might seem like passive players, they actually hold a lot of power. Grouping up makes it harder for the Murderer to isolate targets. Calling out suspicious behavior in chat helps the Sheriff identify the killer. And if the Sheriff falls, an alert Innocent who grabs the gun can turn the entire round around.

3. Murderer Strategy Guide for 2026

Playing Murderer well comes down to timing and positioning. Rushing in with your knife out is the fastest way to get shot by the Sheriff. Here are the strategies that experienced MM2 players use to win consistently.

Murder Mystery 2 Murderer role gameplay showing a player with a knife in a dark corridor
The Murderer must blend in before striking — patience wins rounds

Blend In at Round Start

For the first 15–20 seconds of a round, act like an Innocent. Walk with the group. Don't pull out your knife. Move naturally between rooms. This builds trust and makes the Sheriff less likely to suspect you. Many new Murderers make the mistake of immediately running to an isolated corner — this is a red flag that experienced players pick up on instantly.

Isolate Your Targets

The safest kills happen when no one else is watching. Wait for a player to wander away from the group, follow them into a room with limited exits, and strike. Hallways and small rooms are ideal because your target has fewer escape routes. Avoid attacking in wide-open areas where 4 or 5 players can see you.

Use Perks to Your Advantage

The Haste perk gives you a speed boost, letting you close the gap on fleeing targets and escape after a kill. Ninja makes your kills silent, preventing the death notification sound that alerts nearby players. Both are top-tier Murderer perks. Choose Haste if you like aggressive play, Ninja if you prefer stealth.

Don't Spawn Kill

Killing players right at the spawn point is a bad habit. It immediately reveals you as the Murderer to everyone nearby, gives the Sheriff a clear shot, and generally leads to short rounds. Let players spread out across the map first. The Murderer's power increases as players separate — not while they're clustered together.

Pro tip: After getting a kill, move away from the body immediately. Other players will gravitate toward the kill location, and the Sheriff will be scanning the area. Create distance, blend back into the crowd, and wait for your next opportunity.

Knife Throwing Mastery

Throwing your knife is high-risk, high-reward. A successful throw can eliminate the Sheriff from across the room before they even react. A missed throw leaves you unarmed for several seconds while the knife returns. Practice throwing in situations where you're confident in the hit — when a target is running in a straight line toward you, or when they're standing still and haven't noticed you. Avoid throwing into crowds where a miss exposes you.

4. Sheriff Strategy Guide — Aiming, Timing & Positioning

The Sheriff has the highest-impact role in MM2. One correct shot wins the round for your team. One incorrect shot costs it. Here's how to maximize your chances.

Observe Before Acting

Resist the urge to chase suspicious players with your gun drawn. Instead, position yourself where you can see as much of the map as possible and watch for the Murderer to reveal themselves. Common tells include: a player following another player too closely, a player moving toward isolated targets, or a player who avoids the group entirely.

Time Your Shot Perfectly

The single most important Sheriff skill is shot timing. Wait for the Murderer to reach the peak of a jump or the landing moment after a jump — their movement is most predictable at these points. A moving target on the ground is harder to hit because they can change direction. A target at the apex of their jump is locked into a trajectory for a brief window. That's your moment.

Guard the Gun

If the Murderer knows you're the Sheriff (which they will if you've pulled out your gun), they'll try to kill you to drop the gun and eliminate the biggest threat. Stay near other players so the Murderer can't isolate you. If you're alone and the Murderer approaches, take the shot. Waiting for a "perfect" opportunity when you're about to die is worse than taking a 70% shot right now.

Pro tip: One well-timed shot is worth more than five missed shots. If you miss, the Murderer now knows exactly who the Sheriff is and will rush you. Discipline and patience win more rounds than fast reflexes alone.

5. Innocent Strategy Guide — Surviving Every Round

Innocent is by far the most common role you will receive. Note that role assignment is not a flat dice roll: your chance of drawing Murderer starts low and climbs with every round you go without it, and the Sheriff chance is scaled to how many players are in the round. Long Innocent streaks are normal, and a Murderer roll gets more likely the longer you go without one. Mastering Innocent play means you win more rounds overall simply because you play it the most.

Keep Moving

Static players are easy targets. The Murderer knows exactly where to find you if you park yourself in a corner. Constant movement forces the Murderer to chase you, which makes them more visible and gives the Sheriff more time to identify and shoot them. Vary your route — don't run the same loop around the map.

Don't Hide in One Spot

This is the biggest mistake Innocent players make. Hiding in a closet or behind a door feels safe, but a Murderer who owns the X-Ray power can see through walls for four seconds at a time. They'll walk straight to your hiding spot and eliminate you without any witnesses. Staying mobile in populated areas is always safer than hiding alone.

Collecting coins while staying mobile is the ideal Innocent strategy

Collect Coins While You Move

Coins spawn around the map during every round. Since you're already moving to stay alive, collect coins along the way. You need 1,000 coins to open a mystery box, which can drop items of any rarity tier. Players who consistently collect coins build their inventories much faster than those who ignore them.

Watch for the Gun Drop

If the Sheriff dies, the gun drops on the ground. This is your chance to become the Hero. Sprint to the gun, pick it up, and find the Murderer. In the chaos following the Sheriff's death, the Murderer is often still near the body — giving you a clear shot if you're fast enough. Many rounds are won by alert Innocents who seize this opportunity.

6. Summer Event 2026 (Ended) — Shells, the Pier Map & Daily Quests

This event is over. The Summer Event 2026 went live on July 23, 2026 at 5:00 PM EDT and ended on August 23, 2026 — confirmed both by the Murder Mystery 2 Wiki and by the concurrent-player collapse our own radar recorded within six hours of that date. While it ran it brought a summer lobby, a new map called Pier, a quest system and one event crate. The section below is kept as a record of what the event contained: the Shells quest track and the Summer Box '26 are gone, and every item listed here is now trade-only.

The big change from previous summers: this was the first MM2 summer event that did not use Beach Balls. The event currency was Shells, and you did not pick Shells up off the floor — you earned them by completing quests, and the quests were all "collect X coins". Coins were still the thing you ground; Shells were just the payout.

EventUnbox 1 / 6 / 12 / 20 Summer BoxesBubble Blower, Bubbly, RC Car, NightlifeOne-off

A full day of dailies was 120 Shells, and the Summer Box '26 cost 120 Shells (or 60 Gems). That was the whole loop: one clean day of questing equalled one box. The box tops out at the Godly knife Icecream at a 0.2% chance, with Chroma Icecream under 0.1%. Everything below that is Common at 70%, Uncommon at 18%, Rare at 8%, and the Legendary knife Bubbles at 4%.

The event's paid track was the Beach Bundle, a Roblox game pass — and unlike the quest track it did not disappear when the event closed. We re-paginated Nikilis' full game-pass list again on September 13, 2026 (still 72 passes in total; an unpaginated read returns only the first 50 and silently drops the rest) and exactly three are still on sale: Elite at 499 Robux, Radio at 475 Robux, and the Beach Bundle at 3,399 Robux. It is still the only weapon bundle on sale — every earlier BUNDLE, GODLY and EVO pass is off sale. The 3,399 Robux buys the Godly knife Beachy, the Godly gun Sands, and the bundle-exclusive Ocean effect, with a chance of receiving the Chroma versions instead. Beachy and Sands could each be bought on their own for 1,699 Robux. None of it affects gameplay — it is cosmetics and trade value only, and the quest track gives you a free route to event items.

What next: Nikilis teased Season 2 in a post dated July 23, 2026, and this summer event closed a month earlier than the 2025 one — the wiki reads that early finish as a sign Season 2 is the next drop. As of September 13, 2026 no Season 2 date has been announced, and Nikilis has no event on the Roblox calendar for the game. The Summer '26 crate is gone, so those weapons are trade-only now, which is exactly why old event items hold their value.

7. Item Rarity Tiers & Knife Values in 2026

MM2's item system is one of the deepest on Roblox: the community wiki catalogues 1,004 distinct weapons — 654 knives and 365 guns — sorted into 8 rarity tiers. Understanding these tiers is essential for trading, which is the primary endgame for many MM2 players. Note that Chroma is not a rarity: it is an item type, a rainbow variant of an existing Godly, and it sits above the base Godly in scarcity. Evo weapons are the other item type — they level up through rarities as you use them.

TierCatalogued itemsHow you get it
Unique106Highest tier. Mostly trophy weapons from event leaderboard placements (1st, 2nd, 3rd, top 100). Almost all are untradeable — Corrupt is the only tradeable exception.
Ancient15Event purchases and trading. Some (Batwing, Icewing) were once sold for Robux. Values sit alongside Classic and Vintage weapons.
Godly196Rare box drops, crafting (Seer), event boxes, and past code rewards.
Legendary106Roughly a 5% unbox chance, crafting, trading, or the Elite game pass.
Rare176Boxes, crafting, trading, events.
Uncommon216Boxes, crafting, trading, events.
Common488The default box drop. Bulk trade and salvage fodder.
Vintage11Carried over from the original Murder Mystery. Trading only — there is no other way to get one.
Item types (not rarities): Chroma (50 catalogued) — rainbow variants of Godlies, rarer than the base Godly. Evo — weapons that climb rarities as you earn XP with them.

Tier counts are the item pages catalogued on the Murder Mystery 2 Wiki as of August 18, 2026.

All items are purely cosmetic. A Common knife and a Godly knife kill the same way. The value comes entirely from rarity and visual appeal, which is one of MM2's better design decisions — a new player is not at a mechanical disadvantage against a veteran with a Chroma collection.

Seasonal and event items tend to hold their value because supply stops the day the event ends. MM2 has run eighteen event boxes across its history — eight Halloween, nine Christmas, and now the summer line — and once a box leaves the shop its weapons are obtainable by trading only. That is the single best argument for logging in during an event even if you do not care about the theme: it is the only window in which supply exists.

8. Trading Guide — From Common to Godly

Trading is where MM2's metagame lives, and it is how most players obtain their Godly, Chroma, and Ancient items without spending a single Robux. The path from a handful of Commons to a Godly knife is longer than it sounds, but it is entirely doable with patience.

First, the gate nobody mentions: you must be account level 10 to trade at all. That restriction has been in place since December 28, 2021 as an anti-duping measure, so a brand-new account has to put in rounds before it can touch the economy.

How Trading Works

There is no separate trading hub or trading area — this is the single most common piece of MM2 misinformation. You trade from wherever you are standing: click a player's name in the player list in the top-right corner, and a small menu appears with Profile and Trade buttons. Hit Trade and they get a request they can accept or deny. Accepting opens a full-screen trade window with your inventory on the left and their offer on the right.

Two rules worth memorising before your first trade. You can only put in 4 unique items per side (though you can stack duplicates of them), and every time an item is added there is a 6-second lock before either side can accept — that timer exists specifically to stop last-second item swaps. There is no undo button once the trade goes through. You can also switch incoming trade requests off entirely with the button underneath the player list, which is worth doing while you are learning. Effects, emotes and radios cannot be traded at all; only weapons, pets and miscellaneous items can.

Understanding Item Values

MM2 has no official pricing system, and this matters more than most guides admit: every “value” you will ever see quoted for an MM2 knife is a community estimate, not a game statistic. Nikilis publishes no prices. What exists is a pair of independent, community-run value lists that traders have agreed to treat as a reference:

Because the two use different units and update on different schedules, they routinely disagree. That disagreement is the point: check both before any trade that matters, and treat a wide gap between them as a signal that the item's price is unsettled and you should wait. We deliberately do not print item values on this page — a snapshot value published in a guide is stale within weeks and is exactly how people get talked into bad trades.

  1. Start by collecting Commons and Uncommons through gameplay and boxes. Do not trade these away for nothing — and remember that six salvaged Commons is a guaranteed random Uncommon at the crafting station, which is often better than a bad trade.
  2. Trade Rares and Legendaries for items that are slightly above your current tier. Look for players who want specific items you have — they'll often overpay to complete a set.
  3. Once you have a few Legendaries, start targeting specific Godly items that are on the lower end of the Godly value spectrum. These are your entry point into high-tier trading.
  4. Build from your first Godly by trading laterally (Godly for Godly) and watching for value shifts. Items that rise in demand can be flipped for profit.
Pro tip: Never rush a trade. Scammers rely on pressure tactics — "trade now or I'll leave" is a classic move. A legitimate trader will give you time to verify values. If something feels off, walk away.

9. Murder Mystery 2 Codes

There are no active Murder Mystery 2 codes as of August 18, 2026, and the Summer 2026 event did not add any. Every code Nikilis has ever released rewarded a free knife, and all of them have expired — including the SPRINGTIDE26 seasonal code. Codes are simply not a factor in the current MM2 meta; coins, quests and trading are. Our sibling page tracks the full archive and is re-checked on a schedule: Murder Mystery 2 codes. For games with genuinely live code lists, see Blox Fruits codes, Grow a Garden codes, or Jujutsu Shenanigans codes.

10. Powers (Perks) — the Full Shop List

Two corrections before the list, because almost every MM2 guide online gets this wrong. First, "perks" were renamed Powers in the Season 1 update — the in-game shop calls them Powers, though your own profile still says "Perks". Second, and far more importantly: Powers only do anything when you are the Murderer. They are not a general loadout. If you roll Sheriff or Innocent, whatever you equipped is inert. Powers are also disabled entirely in the Assassin game mode.

You buy them permanently from the Shop with coins or Diamonds. There are ten, and Footsteps is free — every account has it by default.

Because Powers are Murderer-only, there is no cross-role trade-off to agonise over — you are choosing how you want to play the rounds where you do draw Murderer, and nothing else. That also means the coin cost is genuinely optional: Footsteps is free and perfectly usable, and a player who never buys a single Power is not handicapped as Sheriff or Innocent in any way.

X-Ray is the most expensive Power at 6,000 coins and the most generally useful one: four seconds of seeing through walls, every 26 seconds, tells you where the stragglers are hiding. It is a long grind to afford, though — at the 40-coin-per-round cap that is 150 clean rounds. Most players buy Sleight or Ninja first at 1,000 coins, and they are the better early purchases precisely because they are cheap and always on.

Haste is the aggressive pick and Ninja is the stealth pick. Haste's 10% boost only applies while the knife is out, which is precisely the moment you are most exposed — it turns a failed ambush into a chase you can still win. Ninja lets you chain kills without the stab sound giving your position away. One thing to note: Radio is not a Power. Playing music in-game is a separate paid Roblox game pass, and radios are among the items MM2 does not let you trade.

11. Coin Economy, Boxes & Crafting

Coins are MM2's free-to-play currency system, and understanding how to maximize your coin income is the key to building an inventory without spending Robux.

How Coins Work

Coins spawn as small tokens scattered around the map during each round — hallways, tables, behind objects, hidden corners. The number that actually matters is the cap: you can collect a maximum of 40 coins per round, or 50 if you own the Elite game pass. Your coin bag fills up and then stops. That cap is the real ceiling on free progression, and it means a long round is only worth more coins up to the point you hit 40.

Boxes

New on September 4, 2026: the game now shows you the odds. Nikilis shipped a mini update that displays the drop chance for every item in every box — the Murder Mystery 2 Wiki's Timeline records it as a change made “to comply with Roblox's gambling laws”, and it is the newest entry on that Timeline, the only MM2 update logged since the Summer Event ended. Practically: you no longer have to trust a third-party percentage for any box, this page included. Open the box's own panel in the Shop and read the number the game prints. Odds published anywhere before September 4 were estimates; the in-game figures are not. We are not reprinting the percentages here, because we have not read them off the panel ourselves.

The primary use for coins is opening boxes (the game used to call them crates). Every standard box costs the same: 1,000 coins, or 100 Diamonds, or 1 Mystery Key. There are eleven standard boxes in the shop right now — six knife boxes, three gun boxes and two Mystery Boxes — and each one has its own fixed pool of weapons with a specific Godly and its Chroma counterpart at the top. Mystery Box 1 heads at Gemstone, Mystery Box 2 at Lightbringer and Darkbringer. Pick the box whose Godly you actually want, because the pools do not overlap.

At the 40-coin cap, a box is 25 rounds of perfect collecting at absolute best, and realistically more like 35–40 rounds since you will rarely max the bag on a short round. Community estimates have long put Legendary drops at roughly 5% and Godlies at a fraction of a percent; since September 4 the game prints the real figure on the box itself, so read it there rather than trusting any estimate, ours included. Either way, treat boxes as a slow trickle rather than a Godly strategy. The key habit is simply never ignoring coins — collect them while you are moving regardless of your role, because an Innocent who hides in a closet earns nothing.

Salvaging and Crafting — the Reliable Route Up

This is the most underused system in MM2 and the only one that turns junk into a guaranteed upgrade. Salvaging a duplicate or unwanted weapon returns 2 Shards of that weapon's own rarity (Godlies return a variable amount, and salvaging a Seer returns 1 Godly Metal instead). You then spend Shards at the Crafting Station, which you reach from your inventory via the View button in the bottom-right corner.

The critical rule — and the thing most guides state backwards — is that Shards do not convert across tiers. Common Shards can only ever make an Uncommon. You cannot pile up Commons and craft a Legendary. Here is every recipe currently in the game:

RecipeCostEquivalent in salvaged items
Random Uncommon weapon12 Common Shards6 Commons
Random Rare weapon12 Uncommon Shards6 Uncommons
Random Legendary weapon12 Rare Shards6 Rares
Seer (Godly)20 Legendary Shards10 Legendaries
Random Painted Seer10 Godly Shards + 10 Godly Metal

That last row is the endgame: the Random Painted Seer recipe is the only way to obtain a Chroma Seer, alongside the red, orange, yellow, blue and purple variants. And the Seer recipe at 20 Legendary Shards is the one guaranteed Godly in the entire free-to-play game — no drop rate, no luck. Ten salvaged Legendaries and it is yours. If you are asking how to get a Godly without Robux, that is the answer, and it beats waiting on a 0.2% box roll.

Pro tip: Before you salvage anything, check its value on Supreme Values. Duplicate Commons and Uncommons are safe salvage fodder, but event weapons and discontinued-box items are frequently worth far more traded than the 2 Shards you would get for scrapping them — and a salvage cannot be undone.

12. Frequently Asked Questions

Is Murder Mystery 2 free to play in 2026?

Yes, Murder Mystery 2 is completely free to play. You can participate in every round, collect coins, craft items, and trade with other players without spending any Robux. Purchasing knives and guns with Robux is purely cosmetic and does not give gameplay advantages.

Are there any active Murder Mystery 2 codes in August 2026?

No. There are no active Murder Mystery 2 codes as of August 18, 2026, and the Summer 2026 event did not add any. Every MM2 code ever released rewarded a free knife, and all of them have expired — including SPRINGTIDE26. See our Murder Mystery 2 codes page for the full archive.

How do I get Godly knives in MM2 without spending Robux?

The only guaranteed free Godly is Seer, crafted at the Crafting Station from 20 Legendary Shards — that is 10 salvaged Legendary weapons, with no luck involved. Otherwise you can trade up from lower tiers, or open 1,000-coin boxes and hope, since Godly odds sit at a fraction of a percent. Be aware that Shards do not convert across rarities: Common Shards can only ever craft an Uncommon.

What are the three roles in Murder Mystery 2?

The three roles are Murderer, Sheriff, and Innocent. The Murderer must eliminate all players using a knife. The Sheriff must identify and shoot the Murderer to protect the Innocents. Innocents must survive the round and can collect clues to help identify the Murderer. Roles are randomly assigned each round.

How does the trading system work in Murder Mystery 2?

There is no trading hub — you click a player name in the player list in the top-right corner and choose Trade. You must be account level 10 or higher to trade at all, you can offer a maximum of 4 unique items per side, and there is a 6-second lock after each item is added. Effects, emotes and radios cannot be traded. MM2 publishes no official prices, so check the community lists Supreme Values and MM2Values before any significant trade.

What is the best Power (perk) to use in Murder Mystery 2?

Powers — renamed from "perks" in the Season 1 update — only work when you are the Murderer, so they do nothing on Sheriff or Innocent rounds, and they are disabled entirely in Assassin mode. Footsteps is free and perfectly usable. Sleight and Ninja cost 1,000 coins and are the best early buys. X-Ray is the strongest at 6,000 coins: 4 seconds of wall vision on a 26-second cooldown.

How many knives and guns are in Murder Mystery 2?

The Murder Mystery 2 Wiki catalogues 1,004 distinct weapons as of August 18, 2026 — 654 knives and 365 guns. They sort into 8 rarity tiers: Unique and Ancient at the top, then Godly, Legendary, Rare, Uncommon and Common, plus Vintage weapons carried over from the original Murder Mystery. Chroma is an item type, not a rarity. New items arrive with seasonal events.

How do I collect coins fast in Murder Mystery 2?

Coins spawn randomly around the map during rounds, and you can bank a maximum of 40 per round (50 with the Elite game pass) — the bag fills and stops. Stay mobile and cover the whole map rather than hiding in one spot; Innocent gives you the most freedom to roam. Every standard box costs 1,000 coins, so one box is about 25 rounds of perfect collecting at best.

Murder Mystery 2 has stayed relevant on Roblox for over 12 years because its core gameplay loop — the tension of hidden roles, the thrill of a last-second Sheriff shot, the satisfaction of building a rare knife collection — never gets stale. The Summer 2026 event pushing it past a million concurrent players, twelve years after launch, is the clearest evidence of that. Whether you're grinding coins for mystery boxes, trading your way toward a Chroma set, or simply trying to survive one more round, there's always something pulling you back in.
