Protect the Border is a co-op checkpoint simulator from The Evil Mafia where up to four officers check IDs, match faces and search trunks by day, then hold the line against waves and bosses after dark. It launched into BETA on June 30, 2026 and has since added an Endless Mode that removes the seven-day cap — "infinite days", per the developer's description.

What's the current Protect the Border update?

UPDATE WEEK 3, subtitled "SET DIFFICULTY LEVELS!", went live at 18:00 UTC on August 21, 2026 and runs until 18:00 UTC on August 28. The timing is first-party: this studio schedules its patches through Roblox's virtual-events system, and the event is hosted by The Evil Mafia (group 270846147) and was published on August 11, 2026 at 23:56 UTC. Its description reads, verbatim, "??? (Mystery)" — the subtitle is the only feature list on offer.

Two build stamps bracket that handover: the group's gamesV2 publish record at 22:47 UTC on August 21 and the games API updated field at 02:53 UTC on August 22, 2026. A bumped timestamp is a republish, not proof of content, so the event is the stronger evidence.

Selectable difficulty matters more than it sounds. Every run until now followed one fixed curve — the structure our Protect the Border beginner's guide breaks down shift by shift. A lower setting is how a new officer banks early Gold.

Nothing new landed in the store with it. The game-pass API still returned 25 passes, 24 for sale on August 22, 2026, and the two newest — Pyromaniac and Ghillie Sniper, 350 Robux each — were created on August 14, 2026. Pass creation dates record when content shipped: they cluster on August 4, August 7–9 and August 14. Week 3 is a mode change, not a store drop.

What's next for Protect the Border?

One dated thing, from the studio itself: UPDATE WEEK 4, subtitled "DO NOT MISS THIS ONE!", published August 17, 2026 at 17:52 UTC and scheduled to run from 18:00 UTC on August 28 to September 4, 2026. Its description is empty — no features named, no pass previewed. The rhythm is the signal: three one-week events in a row, each handing over at 18:00 UTC.

Past September 4 there is nothing dated. The Evil Mafia group had no shout set on August 22, 2026, the universe carries zero badges, and the studio publishes no roadmap. Any claim about a feature beyond Week 4 is speculation.

Codes travel the same channels. Our Protect the Border codes page covers the one live code and the reward figure the studio and trackers disagree on. New ones surface first on the studio's X account, @EvilMafiaStudio, and its Discord, Evil Mafia Productions — 875 members, 143 online on August 22, 2026, invite confirmed through Discord's own API — and each must clear the bar on our how we verify codes page.
