Universal Tower Defense X (UTDX) by MilkSoda Studios has pulled in over 62 million visits and regularly holds 28,000+ concurrent players. The game lets you summon iconic anime characters like Goku, Luffy, and Naruto, then place them on maps to defend against increasingly brutal waves of enemies. This guide covers every active code, the strongest units after Update 2.5, the trait system odds, and the fastest ways to farm gems in April 2026.
There are currently 4 working codes for UTDX. These codes give free gems and trait reroll tokens, both of which are critical for summoning and optimizing your units. Codes expire without warning, so redeem them as soon as possible.
| Code | Reward | Status |
|---|---|---|
| BERU | 500 Gems + 3 Rerolls | Active |
| ThankYouBeruMuch! | 750 Gems + 5 Rerolls | Active |
| 2.25Patch! | 300 Gems | Active |
| ThankYouForUTDX! | 500 Gems + 2 Rerolls | Active |
Redeeming codes takes about 10 seconds. Here is the exact process.
Sung Jin-Woo is the single strongest unit in UTDX right now. His shadow army mechanic provides infinite damage scaling that no other unit can match in extended fights. Below is the full S-tier and A-tier breakdown after the Update 2.5 balance changes.
| Tier | Unit | Category | Why It's Strong |
|---|---|---|---|
| S+ | Sung Jin-Woo | Hybrid | Shadow armies scale infinitely, solo carry potential through wave 100+ |
| S | Dragon Silver | Ground | Highest burst DPS in the game, excellent against boss waves |
| S | Water God (Primordial) | Hybrid | Massive AoE damage, slows all enemies in range by 40% |
| S | Ant King | Ground | New in Update 2.5, extreme single-target DPS with armor shred |
| A+ | Goku (Ultra Instinct) | Hybrid | Fast attack speed, dodge mechanic reduces incoming damage to nearby units |
| A+ | Luffy (Gear 5) | Ground | Strong AoE, rubber transformation boosts damage by 60% for 15 seconds |
| A | Naruto (Baryon Mode) | Hybrid | Solid sustained DPS, clone ability covers multiple lanes |
| A | Beru | Hill | Event unit from Update 2.5, strong air coverage with poison stacks |
Most top-tier units hit a damage ceiling eventually. Sung Jin-Woo doesn't. Every enemy he defeats adds a shadow soldier to his army, and each shadow retains a percentage of the defeated enemy's stats. By wave 50, his shadow army is dealing more combined damage than an entire team of other S-tier units. By wave 100, nothing else comes close.
The tradeoff is that he's weak in early waves before his army builds up. Smart players pair him with Dragon Silver or Ant King to handle waves 1 through 20 while Jin-Woo ramps. Once his shadows are rolling, you can sell the early-game carries and reinvest that economy into supports.
Traits are random modifiers applied to units when you summon them. They range from common to absurdly rare, and the best ones can double or even triple a unit's effectiveness. Here are the exact drop rates.
| Trait | Drop Rate | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Blessing | 0.50% | +25% damage, +15% attack speed |
| Revenant | 0.30% | Revives once per match at 50% HP, +20% damage on revival |
| Angelic | 0.20% | Heals nearby allies for 3% max HP per second, +10% range |
| Vampiric | 0.15% | Lifesteals 8% of damage dealt, gains +5% damage per kill (caps at +50%) |
| Eternal | 0.10% | +35% all stats, immune to debuffs, golden visual effect |
Getting an Eternal trait on a Sung Jin-Woo is roughly a 1 in 1,000 pull if Jin-Woo himself has a 1% banner rate. That's the holy grail of UTDX. Most players burn through thousands of gems and dozens of reroll tokens chasing it. The reroll tokens from codes help, but realistically you should settle for Blessing or Vampiric on your main carry and save Eternal hunting for when you have a massive gem stockpile.
Evolution is the primary upgrade path for every unit in UTDX. Etherealization is the prestige layer above it. Both systems are essential for pushing past wave 60 in endgame content.
Each unit has 3 to 5 evolution stages. During a match, you spend in-match currency (earned from defeating enemies) to level up a placed unit. When it hits its level cap, the Evolve button appears. Evolution resets the unit's level but dramatically increases its base stats and often unlocks a new ability.
For example, base Goku evolves into Super Saiyan Goku at evolution 1, then Super Saiyan Blue at evolution 2, and finally Ultra Instinct at evolution 3. Each form roughly doubles his DPS output. The cost to evolve increases with each stage, so your economy management matters.
Etherealization pushes units beyond their final evolution. It requires Ethereal Shards, which drop from Ragna Challenges and high-wave Virtual Realm runs. An Etherealized unit gains a permanent 20% stat boost that applies across all matches, plus a unique visual aura.
The shard cost varies by unit rarity. Common units need 50 shards, rare units need 150, and legendary units like Sung Jin-Woo need 500. Farming 500 Ethereal Shards takes roughly 40 to 60 Ragna Challenge completions, so this is a long-term goal rather than something you rush.
UTDX units fall into five categories, and understanding how they interact is what separates players who clear wave 40 from those who push wave 100+.
Hybrid units can be placed on both ground and hill tiles. This flexibility makes them the most versatile picks. Sung Jin-Woo and Water God are both Hybrids, which is part of why they're so dominant. You can position them wherever the map demands without worrying about tile restrictions.
Ground units sit on path-adjacent tiles and typically have the highest raw DPS numbers. Dragon Silver and Ant King are Ground units. Their weakness is that ground tiles are often more exposed to enemy abilities, so pairing them with an Angelic-trait Support unit helps keep them alive in late waves.
Hill units occupy elevated positions and usually have extended range. They're your anti-air specialists. Beru is the best Hill unit in the current meta. Hill tiles are limited on most maps, so you generally run 1-2 Hill units maximum.
Support units buff nearby allies rather than dealing direct damage. The best supports increase attack speed, damage, or range for all units within their radius. Always place your support units in the center of your DPS cluster. A well-positioned support can boost your team's total output by 30-50%.
Farm units generate bonus in-match currency. They don't deal damage, but they let you evolve your DPS units faster. Place 1-2 Farm units early in the match, then sell them around wave 30-40 when you no longer need the extra income. Skipping Farm units entirely means you'll hit your power spikes 5-10 waves later than opponents who invested in economy.
Gem income determines how fast you can summon and upgrade units. These are the three most efficient farming methods ranked by gems per hour.
Virtual Realm is the best gems-per-hour activity in the game. A full clear takes about 12-15 minutes and awards 80-120 gems depending on your performance score. With the 2x Speed game pass, you can cut run times to under 10 minutes. Consistent Virtual Realm farming yields roughly 400-500 gems per hour.
Ragna Challenges offer slightly fewer gems per run (60-90) but also drop Ethereal Shards, making them the better choice if you're working toward Etherealizing a unit. The difficulty is higher, though. You need at least 2-3 evolved S-tier units to clear Ragna consistently.
Each Story Mode chapter awards a one-time gem bonus of 200-500 gems on first clear. If you haven't finished the story yet, this is your fastest source of gems. The later chapters also drop unit fragments for specific characters. Once you've cleared everything, Story Mode drops to about 30 gems per replay, making it the weakest repeatable farm.
Update 2.5 dropped in April 2026 and brought significant additions. Here's everything that changed.
Ant King is a Ground-category unit with the highest single-target DPS in the game. His armor shred ability reduces enemy defense by 30% for 8 seconds, which also amplifies damage from your other units. He's S-tier for boss waves but less effective against swarms because of his single-target focus. Pair him with Water God or Luffy for AoE coverage.
The Beru limited-time event runs through May 2026. Completing event stages earns Beru Tokens that you can exchange for the Beru unit, exclusive cosmetics, and bonus gems. Beru himself is a strong Hill unit with poison-stacking attacks. The event requires clearing 10 event-specific stages, each with unique enemy compositions.
Water God received a 10% damage nerf but a 15% range buff, shifting him from a pure DPS role toward more of a hybrid support-DPS position. Dragon Silver got a 5% attack speed increase. Naruto's clone ability cooldown was reduced from 30 seconds to 22 seconds, a meaningful buff that puts him solidly in A tier.
UTDX is free to play, but four game passes offer meaningful advantages. Here's what each one costs and whether it's worth the Robux.
| Game Pass | Price (Robux) | What It Does | Worth It? |
|---|---|---|---|
| VIP | 399 | +50% gem income, exclusive VIP summon banner, VIP chat badge | Yes, best overall value |
| Auto-Farm | 299 | Automatically repeats farming stages, collects rewards | Yes, if you grind daily |
| 2x Speed | 149 | Doubles wave speed in all game modes | Yes, saves significant time |
| Extra Team Slot | 199 | Adds one additional team loadout slot | Nice to have, not essential |
The VIP pass at 399 Robux delivers the highest return because the 50% gem income boost compounds over every single run you play. If you can only afford one pass, get VIP. If you can afford two, add Auto-Farm. The 2x Speed pass is the best budget option at 149 Robux if you just want faster runs without a permanent gem boost. You can earn free Robux for these passes through legitimate platforms like Earnaldo, which lets you complete offers and tasks to accumulate Robux without spending real money.
PvP in UTDX pits two players against each other on mirrored maps. You send waves at your opponent while defending your own lane. The meta here differs from PvE because burst damage and early pressure matter more than late-game scaling.
Dragon Silver is arguably better than Sung Jin-Woo in PvP. Jin-Woo needs time to build shadows, and most PvP matches are decided in the first 8-12 waves. Dragon Silver's immediate burst damage lets you pressure your opponent before they stabilize. Ant King's armor shred is also devastating in PvP because it makes your sent waves harder for the opponent to handle.
The key PvP strategy is to rush a Farm unit in wave 1, evolve one strong DPS unit by wave 5, and start sending pressure waves by wave 7. If your opponent skips Farm units, they'll have stronger early defense but run out of economy by wave 15. If they over-invest in farming, punish them with aggressive wave sends before they can evolve their carries.
Dragon Silver (main DPS) + Ant King (armor shred) + 1 Support unit (attack speed buff) + 1 Farm unit (early economy). Evolve Dragon Silver first, sell the Farm unit after wave 10, and apply constant pressure with wave sends.
Sung Jin-Woo is the strongest unit overall thanks to his infinite-scaling shadow army mechanic. For PvP specifically, Dragon Silver's immediate burst damage makes it a better pick. Water God (Primordial) rounds out the top 3 with massive AoE and slow utility.
Press the Codes button on the right side of your screen, type or paste the code into the text box, and hit Redeem. Rewards appear in your inventory instantly. Codes are case-sensitive, so enter them exactly as shown.
Traits are random modifiers on summoned units. Blessing (0.50%), Revenant (0.30%), Angelic (0.20%), Vampiric (0.15%), and Eternal (0.10%) are the five trait tiers. Eternal is the rarest and most powerful, granting +35% to all stats and debuff immunity.
Etherealization is a prestige upgrade system that boosts units beyond their final evolution. It requires Ethereal Shards farmed from Ragna Challenges and Virtual Realm. Etherealized units gain a permanent 20% stat increase and a unique visual aura that persists across all matches.
Virtual Realm grinding is the most efficient method at roughly 400-500 gems per hour. Ragna Challenges are second but also drop Ethereal Shards. Complete Story Mode first for the one-time chapter clear bonuses of 200-500 gems each.
Yes, UTDX is completely free on Roblox. Game passes like VIP (399 Robux), Auto-Farm (299 Robux), 2x Speed (149 Robux), and Extra Team Slot (199 Robux) offer quality-of-life improvements but are optional. You can clear all content without spending anything.
Update 2.5 (April 2026) added Ant King as a new Ground-category unit, the limited-time Beru event with exclusive rewards, balance adjustments to Water God and Naruto, and new Ragna Challenge stages. The update also introduced the codes BERU and ThankYouBeruMuch! for free gems and rerolls.
Earn Robux by completing simple tasks on Earnaldo. Use them to grab VIP, Auto-Farm, or 2x Speed passes and upgrade your UTDX grind.
