Anime Origins Beginner Guide (August 2026) — Start Here

By Money Lord — Founder & Editor | Updated: August 20, 2026

Anime Origins went public on August 14, 2026 and already holds a five-figure player count. This covers your first thirty minutes, the five systems that decide how strong a unit ends up, which Robux passes are worth it, and the arithmetic showing why every Anime Origins tier list published this week is guessing.

Verified via the Roblox games, votes, badges, develop and game-pass APIs on August 20, 2026 (universe 8946565814): 11,472,910 visits, 20,411 likes against 1,420 dislikes, 22 players per server. The median is the middle of 22 radar readings taken August 15–20, 2026, low 21,471, high 24,897 — a live count swings roughly two-to-one across a day.

One fact shapes everything below: the game is six days old. The developer-side publish stamp on the Roblox game page reads August 14, 2026 at 21:00 UTC and has not moved, and the universe carries zero badges and zero scheduled events. There is no named update and no settled meta, so anyone pinning advice to a patch name invented it. The build is older than the launch, though: four of the five live game passes were created in December 2025, the fifth in January 2026.

Your First 30 Minutes

Anime Origins is a tower defense game with a lobby hub, so the opening half hour is about unlocking the buildings you will live in later. Do it in this order.

  1. Push Story mode on Normal. Story is where Gems, Trait Rerolls and account levels come from, and clearing it opens Challenges, Legend Stages and the level-25 World Boss.
  2. Redeem codes early. The Codes button sits on the right of the lobby screen. Codes pay out Gems, Trait Rerolls and Stat Prisms — exactly what you cannot farm at level 1. Our running list is on the Anime Origins codes page.
  3. Expect a level gate, but test it. The game displays a note limiting codes to level 10 and up, with Release! exempt. Sportskeeda called that gate live on August 15, 2026; GamesRadar wrote on August 19 that the note exists but "at the time of writing that is not in effect". Try your codes at any level.
  4. Spend Gems on the unit banner and nothing else. Coins, Gold, Tickets and Remnants all come back from stages and Challenges once you have units that clear them.
  5. Check a unit's placement type before investing in it. Ground, hill and air are separate, air coverage is thin at launch, and flying enemies appear early in Story. Feeding Remnants to a unit that cannot reach the lane you are losing is the fastest way to stall.
  6. Put income units inside your damage units' range. Both farm passives are proximity-gated: one refunds part of a nearby upgrade, the other turns nearby allies' kills into income. Parked in a corner, both do nothing.
  7. Join the official Discord. Codes are not posted on the Roblox game page. PCGamesN found them at the bottom of changelogs in the announcements channel, a server we measured at 107,316 members on August 20, 2026.
Private servers are free. The game's own Roblox description says so, and servers cap at 22 players.

Core Mechanics Explained

A unit's power here is not one number. It is the product of five systems, four of them rerollable.

Traits

Traits are unit-agnostic stat packages applied at the Trait Reroll station inside the Evolve building, using rerolls from stages, Challenges, quests and codes. Sportskeeda's traits guide, updated August 15, 2026 by Swapnil Joshi, transcribes the in-game Trait Index as 23 traits across five bands.

The one worth chasing is Immortal, the only Secret-band trait: +200% damage, −15% cooldown, +20% range, +20% income, with a 1,300-roll pity counter. Only one unit per team may carry it. Its passive fires once per match after wave 10, and it triggers when your base runs out of stocks rather than when the unit dies — a loss-saver, not a revenge effect. Several Mythic traits carry pity counters too, from 325 rolls up to 900.

Stat prisms

Every unit rolls its stats inside a predetermined range, and Stat Prisms reroll that spread; Perfect Stat Prisms weight the roll toward the top of it. Creators reading the screen on camera describe the upper rungs as S, S+, SS and SSS, and note that rerolls can go down as well as up. Evolving raises the ceiling, so a near-perfect spread stops being one.

Ascension is not levelling

These get conflated constantly. Levelling takes a unit toward 100 using food items and duplicate fodder. Ascension is separate: you fuse duplicates at the Ascension NPC beside the Summon station, spending Fuse Chips, for five permanent ranks.

Sportskeeda's August 15 guide lists them as +3% damage, +5% range, +5% damage, +25% crit chance and +25% crit damage. A pre-release play-test build documented on YouTube listed five different bonuses, so read the screen first.

Evolution, Remnants and elements

Evolution is the big power step, and it is a crafting sink rather than a coin flip. Every recipe Sportskeeda has published has the same shape: Azure, Violet, Radiant and Prismatic Remnants in the tens, plus one or two unique crafted items. Remnants drop from Challenge stages and are sold by the merchant for Coins, so budget crafting currency, not just Gems.

Elements cut both ways. Creators reading tooltips on camera in mid-August 2026 report 150% damage into an attuned enemy — the +50% everyone quotes — but also roughly 65% into the counter element. Most guides print the upside and drop the penalty.

Why There's No Honest Anime Origins Tier List Yet

We started this page intending to rank units, and killed the plan. The reason is worth more than a ranking. There is no wiki of record: anime-origins.fandom.com and animeorigins.fandom.com both returned 404 on August 20, 2026 against a control host returning 200, and the Roblox description names zero units. Every roster in circulation was transcribed by ear from launch-week videos.

Nobody outside the game agrees what the units are called

Anime Origins renames some characters and leaves others intact, with no derivable pattern. PCGamesN's August 20, 2026 guide spells the headline summonable Secret "Valcrad" and adds that it is "typically known as Alucard". The game's most important unit fares worse: Sportskeeda's August 18 guide by Spandan "IHawk" Chatterjee is titled "Modora (Madara Uchiha)", opens by calling it Modora, then writes that "Modoro evolves into Madaro (Edo Tensei)". Three spellings, one unit, one article.

These are one unit: the ability text matches verbatim across sites. Only the spelling moves, and a tier list is a list of spellings.

One mis-heard letter has already minted a unit that may not exist. Sportskeeda's August 15 tier list ranks "Roxi" in A-tier as DPS and "Oxi (Mage)" in B-tier as support — two entries, two tiers. Other sites list exactly one of the two.

Elsewhere the same character is "Shinoru" on four sites and "Shinaru" on two, and one guide concedes in its own copy that the unit is "also labeled Shinoru". The universe's single official thumbnail, pulled from the Roblox thumbnails API on August 20, 2026, is five portraits and a logo with no name printed on it.

Published roster counts run from 21 to 37

Counts in circulation this week: 21, 24, 26, 27 and 30, plus a site claiming 37 units "at global release" that then names 20, and another printing 24 and 26 on one homepage. Sportskeeda's 27 is not a roster — it excludes everything below Mythic by its own admission, and it contains the Roxi/Oxi pair.

The Secret count splits too. PCGamesN refers to "the game's only secret unit right now"; TechWiser counts three; one site files a fourth under Secret that two others call Mythic. The three documented Secrets come three unrelated ways: a 0.01% banner pull, a 2% Rift drop with a guarantee at 40 clears, and a fixed reward for crafting an item and clearing a two-stage trial. No single drop rate describes all three.

The rate tables do not add up

Sportskeeda and PCGamesN both price the banner Secret at 0.01%. TechWiser says 0.1%, then pairs it with a pity counter at 10,000 summons — the number you would expect from 0.01%. One of its own two figures is wrong. The other 0.1% in circulation is the Secret trait band — a different system entirely.

The trait index has the same problem, and a calculator settles it. Its percentages are conditional on the band: Rare's six sum to exactly 100%, Legendary's five to exactly 100%, Mythic's seven to exactly 100%. But the Epic band sums to 47%, and its three listed values are byte-identical to three Rare values one section above — a copy-paste, in a list billed as complete at 23 traits.

A rival site prints those same three at 25% each, which does sum to 100. Displayed "1 in X" banner odds are worse: roll banners in this genre show luck-adjusted numbers, never base rates.

The ranking axis is not a property of the unit

Even with settled names and rates, the unit is not the thing you would rank. Two copies of one unit differ by the Immortal trait alone (+200% damage), by up to five Ascension ranks, by a stat spread anywhere inside its range, by whether it has evolved, and by element matchup. Stack the extremes and one named unit spans a multiple wider than the gap between adjacent tiers.

Treat the search results with the same suspicion. One site ranking near the top for Anime Origins unit lists carries datePublished and dateModified values of 2026-07-13 in its own structured data, a month before launch. We read that markup on August 20, 2026. Its roster contains units like "Shadow Monarch" that appear nowhere else, priced in a currency called Yen that this game does not use.

Once the roster settles a real ranking becomes possible; our Anime Defenders tier list shows what that looks like, and our verification method page sets out the standard.

Beginner Mistakes to Avoid

When to Spend Robux (and When Not To)

Pulled from the Roblox game-pass API on August 20, 2026, filtered on isForSale. Five passes are live and every price is the API's own figure.

PassPriceWhat it doesCreated
Shiny Hunter1,100 R$Increased chance of shiny unitsJan 18, 2026
Increased Game speed450 R$Faster game speedDec 13, 2025
VIP350 R$20% off summons, nametag, +25% AFK Chamber Gems, +10% EXPDec 13, 2025
Display more units300 R$+2 lobby display slots, 3 totalDec 13, 2025
More unit storage140 R$+225 unit storageDec 13, 2025

VIP is the only pass that compounds: the summon discount and the EXP boost both feed the account level that gates codes and content, and the AFK Chamber bonus applies to a sub-place the game runs for passive Gems. Increased Game speed is a comfort purchase that became a launch talking point. Skip More unit storage until storage is full, and skip Display more units unless you want lobby cosmetics.

Watch out for a sixth pass. The API also returns one literally named Test, id 1583560342, reading isForSale: false — an unlisted developer template, not a product. Ignore any "six game passes" list. Ignore sales counts too: these passes are group-owned, and the Roblox economy API returns 0 sales for group passes regardless of reality.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many units does Anime Origins have?

Nobody outside the game can say honestly. Counts circulating this week run 21, 24, 26, 27 and 30, plus a site claiming 37 units at global release while naming only 20. There is no Fandom wiki for the game and the Roblox description names no units, so every roster was transcribed by ear from launch-week videos. At least one widely copied list appears to count one unit twice under two spellings.

What is the best trait in Anime Origins?

Immortal, the only trait in the Secret band. Sportskeeda's transcription of the in-game Trait Index gives it +200% damage, -15% cooldown, +20% range and +20% income, with a pity counter at 1,300 rolls. Only one unit per team can carry it, and its passive fires once per match after wave 10, when your base runs out of stocks rather than when the unit dies. The Secret band's overall rate is 0.1%, so treat it as a long-term target.

Is Anime Origins worth playing right now?

That depends on your tolerance for a launch build. The Roblox vote counts we read on August 20, 2026 give it 20,411 likes against 1,420 dislikes, a 93.5% approval rating, and our radar puts the 7-day median at 22,754 concurrent players. Several Roblox creators were sharply critical of the August 14 release, and the game has since shipped fixes that two of its own live codes are named after. It is free and there is no named update yet.
