Anime Vanguards Update March 2026 — Moonless Sky Dungeon & New Units
Anime Vanguards Update 11.5, titled Moonless Sky, dropped on March 22, 2026. It's one of the biggest mid-season patches Kitawari has shipped, introducing four new Bleach-inspired units, a brand-new Underworld Dungeon, a community Level Editor, and a complete Worldline progress reset. Here's everything that changed and how it affects your strategy going forward.
The update lands alongside Season 11 of the Battle Pass, which already brought exclusive units Arbiter and Manipulator earlier in the month. With 11.5 stacking on top of that foundation, Anime Vanguards players now have more content to chase than at any point since launch. If you haven't logged in this week, you're missing out on a massive content drop.
What's New in the Moonless Sky Update
Four New Units
Update 11.5 adds four units to the roster, all drawing inspiration from the Bleach universe. Each comes with a base form and an evolved variant that dramatically changes their role on the battlefield.
| Unit | Evolved Form | Element | How to Obtain |
|---|---|---|---|
| Savior | Savior (Moonless) | Dark | Banner summon |
| Deceiver | Deceiver (Monster) | Nature | Dungeon Shop (Hollow Tokens) |
| Diablo | Diablo (Renacimiento) | Nature | 5% dungeon drop / 1,000 Hollow Tokens |
| Teacher | Teacher (Final Stand) | Light | Worldline Floor 50 reward |
Diablo (Renacimiento) is the standout unit from this patch. Based on Ulquiorra Cifer's Segunda Etapa form, it's a Nature-element Secret-rarity unit with a placement limit of 3. Its base damage starts at 3,000 at Level 0 and scales to 80,000 at Level 9, pushing DPS from 429 to 5,714. Upgrade costs range from 2,800 Yen at Level 0 to 40,000 Yen at Level 9.
What makes Diablo special is the three-ability kit. Stepping In lets you place Diablo for free if it replaces another unit in range, granting a +40% damage buff when it does so. Regular placement gives +20% range instead. It also inherits the upgrade level of whatever unit it replaces, which opens up some creative late-wave strategies.
Javelin Toss scales damage based on how far away the target is, dealing up to 100% bonus damage at maximum range. Hits at max distance trigger critical strikes and apply the Repulse debuff. Resurrected Body makes the unit immune to all status debuffs and grants +20% range per second while idle, stacking up to 200%. That buff resets the moment Diablo attacks, so positioning it at the edge of the map and letting the range build before enemies arrive is the optimal play.
Evolving Diablo requires 50,000 Gold, 15 Pink Essence, 15 Red Essence, 30 Green Essence, 2 Rainbow Essence, and 1 Spirit Javelin.
The Underworld Dungeon
The new dungeon pits you against Diablo in a multi-phase boss encounter set in the Underworld. Clearing it rewards Hollow Tokens, a new dungeon-specific currency you can spend in the attached Dungeon Shop.
The shop stocks the Diablo unit itself, the Deceiver unit, several new Memorias, and Evolution Items tied to the Bleach-themed units. Diablo has a 5% drop chance from dungeon completion, but if RNG isn't cooperating, you can buy it outright for 1,000 Hollow Tokens. Grinding the dungeon consistently is the most reliable path to securing these units without relying on luck.
Level Editor
This is the feature the community has been requesting for months. Talk to the Cat NPC in the lobby to access the Level Editor. You can design custom maps with your own track layouts, set unit restrictions, adjust wave counts, and share your creations with other players.
Custom levels don't award standard progression rewards, but they're already generating creative challenge maps within the community. Expect this feature to grow as Kitawari refines the toolset based on player feedback.
Worldline Reset
All Worldline game mode progress has been wiped clean. If you earned rewards from previous floors, you can grind them again. The key change here is the Floor 50 reward: Company Captain is gone, replaced by Teacher (Final Stand). This is the only way to get Teacher, so if you want the full 11.5 roster, Worldline grinding is mandatory.
How This Affects Gameplay
Diablo (Renacimiento) immediately shakes up the meta for Infinite Mode. The Stepping In ability means you can place cheap filler units early, let them absorb upgrades, and then swap Diablo in during later waves with inherited levels and a +40% damage boost on top. That's a massive efficiency gain compared to building Diablo from scratch.
The Resurrected Body passive also makes Diablo one of the best map-edge units in the game. In maps with long straight sections, placing Diablo at the far end and letting its range stack before the first enemy arrives can result in attacks that cover nearly the entire track. Combined with the Javelin Toss distance scaling, a fully ramped Diablo hits harder than most Vanguard-rarity units at similar investment.
Teacher (Final Stand) serves a different role. As a Light-element unit locked behind Worldline Floor 50, it's designed for players who've already built strong rosters. In our testing, it excels as a support anchor in the back line, providing consistent area-of-effect coverage without needing heavy upgrades to stay relevant.
The Level Editor doesn't directly affect ranked play, but it's already changing how the community practices. Custom maps that isolate specific wave patterns let you rehearse boss encounters and tight timing windows without committing to full runs.

Updated Tips and Strategies
With four new units in the pool, your summoning priorities need to shift. If you're a mid-game player still building your core roster, focus on the Underworld Dungeon first. Hollow Tokens are the most efficient path to Diablo and Deceiver without spending Gems on banner pulls.
For Worldline grinders, the reset means you're starting from Floor 1 again regardless of your previous progress. The good news is you can re-earn all floor rewards, effectively doubling your material income for this cycle. Push to Floor 50 as soon as possible to lock in Teacher (Final Stand) before the next reset.
Trait Rerolls from codes should go toward your Diablo unit if you manage to pull one. The Nature element combined with the Stepping In ability means Diablo benefits heavily from attack-speed and range traits. Avoid defense-oriented traits since the Resurrected Body passive already handles debuff immunity.
Season 11 Battle Pass holders should note that Gold has been entirely removed from pass rewards and replaced with Memoria Shards. The reworked pass now provides over 300 Memoria Shards and 250+ Trait Rerolls across the Free and Premium tracks. That's a significant upgrade for players who prioritize unit customization over raw currency.
Community Reaction
The response to Update 11.5 has been overwhelmingly positive. Players are calling Diablo (Renacimiento) one of the most creative unit designs Kitawari has released, with the Stepping In mechanic generating theory-crafting threads across Reddit and Discord. The ability to inherit upgrade levels from replaced units is being compared to "a free economy reset mid-run," and speedrunners are already experimenting with sacrifice-and-swap strategies.
The Level Editor has been the surprise hit of the patch. Within hours of launch, community-made maps started appearing with names like "Impossible Spiral" and "One Path, No Range," challenging players to beat custom scenarios with restricted unit pools. Kitawari reportedly plans to feature top community maps in future events, which has the creative side of the player base energized.
The Worldline reset drew mixed reactions. Veteran players who had already cleared Floor 50 appreciate the chance to re-earn rewards, but some feel the removal of Company Captain without warning was frustrating. The consensus, though, is that Teacher (Final Stand) is a strong enough replacement to justify the grind.
Custom Monarch trait VFX for all Vanguard-rarity units and the replacement of the default Roblox chat with a custom system round out the quality-of-life improvements. Players report noticeably better performance in lobbies since the chat overhaul went live.
