Protect the Border Beginner's Guide – Class Ladder, Contraband Checks & Night Waves

By Money Lord — Founder & Editor | Updated: August 21, 2026

Protect the Border beginner's guide — class ladder, contraband checks and night waves

By the end of this guide you will know how the seven-day shift is scored, the order to run an inspection so you stop failing vehicles, which Gold class to buy first and what it costs, why Gold and Cash are not interchangeable, and which game passes actually exist — including the one the store will not sell you.

What this guide covers

  1. Read the shift clock first
  2. Run the inspection in a fixed order
  3. Bank Gold, spend Cash
  4. Buy classes up the ladder
  5. Survive the night and the boss
  6. Know what the store actually sells
  7. Play the weekly update calendar

Protect the Border [BETA] is a co-op checkpoint game by The Evil Mafia (group 270846147, owner Myrrakh, 165,053 members) on place ID 104589921852670, universe 10423774136, created June 30, 2026. Live on August 21, 2026: 7,644,959 visits, 51,166 favourites, 86.9% approval (13,363 likes to 2,022 dislikes). Typical concurrency is 8,794 players — our seven-day median across 25 radar samples from August 15–21, 2026, range 4,873 to 17,853. Servers cap at 25; the squad is up to 4 officers.

Two constraints shape this guide. The universe carries zero badges, so there is no award data to read progression from, and it has no real wiki — both "Protect the Border" wiki sites in search results had their domains registered on August 15, 2026, six weeks after launch, the signature of an auto-generated farm. Nothing here comes from either. This page is the Roblox API, first-party pass and event data, one named class list, and HUD frames from gameplay uploads.

1. Read the Shift Clock Before Anything Else

The number that governs everything sits dead centre at the top of the screen: DAY 3 / 7. Three gameplay captures — two from different channels on August 16, 2026, one on August 19 — show that counter at DAY 2 / 7 and DAY 3 / 7, and an August 16 walkthrough is titled Shift 1 TO 7 — Full Walkthrough + Ending. The standard run is seven days, then an ending.

Under it runs a bar labelled VEHICLES PROCESSED CORRECTLY, reading 7 / 7 in one frame, beside a countdown showing 0:52 and 0:28 in two others. That is the day's real objective: not how many cars you wave through, but how many you judge correctly before the clock expires. Alongside sits a row of eight nodes, one labelled PRISON BREAK on two independent captures — a named event pinned to a point in the day, not a random interrupt.

Endless Mode is the other half of the game, and the description confirms it is live: "Infinite days. Every shift longer, every night worse, every boss bigger." A playthrough uploaded August 16, 2026 is titled 18 DAYS + All F2P weapons — the mode past the seven-day cap.

Do the tutorial — it is a separate place. Roblox's places endpoint returns three places here on August 21, 2026: the lobby, Tutorial and Match. You are teleported into a match instance, and the tutorial is a real dev-built place, not a skippable pop-up.

2. Run the Inspection in a Fixed Order: ID, Face, Trunk, Verdict

The description gives the loop in six lines and the on-screen prompts match it exactly. Work this order on every vehicle:

Your keys are printed on the HUD: SHIFT sprint, CTRL crouch, ALT hold-for-cursor. The last matters more than it sounds — you need the cursor to read a licence without losing aim.

The X-Ray Scanner is a hotbar tool, not just a pass. Two captures show a slot labelled X-Ray Scanner selected while the objective reads "search vehicles for contraband". But the pass of that name returned isForSale: false on August 21, 2026 — the one store item you cannot buy. Any list that prices it is guessing.

3. Bank Gold, Spend Cash — They Are Not the Same Currency

Bottom-right you carry two counters: a green dollar figure (Cash) and a gold bar (Gold). Both are separate columns on the in-match scoreboard, alongside Processed and Best Day. One capture from August 16, 2026 shows four players in a server:

PlayerProcessedBest DayGoldCash
Boysforever2781121,7624,825
DJV21441823942,844
DJV_219922512,219
IDKStats21001,875

Read the spread: Gold ranges 17x between top and bottom player, Cash under 3x. Gold is the scarce, skill-gated currency and the one the class shop takes. Sportskeeda, August 20, 2026: Gold comes from completing runs, daily rewards and codes.

Codes pay Gold and one works right now, but a codes list belongs on its own page: see Protect the Border codes for the current code, the reward dispute attached to it and the redeem location, and how we verify codes for the standard it is held to.

4. Buy Classes Up the Ladder, Not by Price Tag

Classes are the progression system: each sets your maximum health and hands you a fixed primary and secondary, equipped from the locker. The Gold ladder below comes from Sportskeeda's class guide of August 20, 2026 — a single source, so we cross-checked it against evidence we control. Two captures show a HEALTH readout of 110 and 120, matching the Rookie/Patrol Agent and Senior Agent rows exactly, and the developer's pass text confirms Juggernaut at 250 HP and Frog Man at 160 HP.

ClassTierCostHPPrimarySecondary

Patrol Agent1100 Gold110HK MP7Glock 17

Special Forces35,500 Gold175FN SCAR-LColt 1911
Spetsnaz38,000 Gold200GrozaCZ75

The buy order that matters is 500 → 4,500 → 8,000. Patrol Agent at 100 Gold adds no health over Rookie; it just gives you a primary. Senior Agent at 500 Gold is the first real upgrade and the only one reachable in a first session. From Customs Officer to FBI Specialist you then pay 3,800 Gold for 30 HP — with one exception. Field Medic at 4,500 Gold carries a Medkit instead of a pistol, the only class that changes what you can do, and the obvious pick in a four-officer squad. Spetsnaz at 8,000 Gold is the free-to-play ceiling, costing more than the rest of the ladder combined.

Two figures we could not reconcile. The developer's pass text puts Hazmat Soldier at 165 HP; the third-party list says 145. The developer describes SAS Operator as HK416 + P226; that list has an "SOS Operator" with AA-12 + CZ75. First-party wins both.

5. Survive the Night and the Boss That Follows It

Inspection is only half the shift. The description is explicit about sundown — "Survive what comes after dark. Put down whatever they send to break the line" — and states the scaling outright: every shift longer, every night worse, every boss bigger.

That sentence is your whole night strategy. Difficulty is indexed to the day number, not to your gear, so the run is a race: every Gold you fail to earn in daylight is health and firepower you do not have after dark. Processing vehicles correctly is how you fund the shooting. It is also why the scoreboard tracks Best Day — the day you reached is the score.

Two notes from the frames. The hotbar holds up to five numbered slots whose contents change with class and passes — one capture shows pistol, cuffs, scanner, ID tool; another SMG, pistol, X-Ray Scanner, ID tool, cuffs. Learn your slot order before dark, and locate ARMORY, STORE and DETENTION on day one; all three are signed on the map.

6. Know What the Store Actually Sells

On August 21, 2026 Roblox's game-pass endpoint returned 25 passes, 24 of them isForSale: true. We checked the creator and sale flag on all 25.

PassPriceWhat it does
2X Cash199 R$Doubles cash and gold from every shift
VIP399 R$Double cash and gold, plus a VIP tag
Juggernaut349 R$250 HP, M249 + Desert Eagle — not buyable with Gold
SAS Operator / Hazmat Soldier350 R$ each170 HP HK416; 165 HP FAMAS
Frog Man / Ghillie Sniper / Pyromaniac350 R$ each160 HP AS VAL; SVD marksman; flamethrower
Special Forces + Spetsnaz Bundle499 R$Both top Gold classes at once
Infinite Ammo199 R$Reserve ammo never runs out
Weapons (SPAS 12, FAMAS, TAR 21 … Ray Gun)99–799 R$An extra weapon on top of your loadout
X-Ray ScannerNot for saleFlagged isForSale: false on August 21, 2026

One thing jumps out: 2X Cash at 199 R$ does the same job as VIP at 399 R$ — both say double cash and gold, and VIP adds a cosmetic tag for 200 Robux more. The 499 R$ bundle is the only pass buying something you could otherwise earn: 13,500 Gold of ladder.

Ignore third-party pass prices. A widely-shared table puts the premium classes at 139–140 Robux; the live store returned 349–350 Robux for every one on August 21, 2026, no discount recorded.

7. Play the Weekly Update Calendar

The studio publishes its patch schedule through Roblox's virtual-events system, so you can see the next update before it lands. On August 21, 2026 three developer-created events sat on this universe, each one week long:

Week 3 changes how you play: selectable difficulty means the seven-day run stops being one fixed curve, and a lower setting is the obvious way for a new officer to bank early Gold. The game's updated stamp moved at 03:59 UTC on August 21, 2026, but a bumped timestamp is a republish, not proof of a patch.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is a shift in Protect the Border?

Seven in-game days. Three gameplay captures from August 16–19, 2026 all show a DAY 2 / 7 or DAY 3 / 7 counter, and an August 16 walkthrough is titled "Shift 1 TO 7" with an ending. Endless Mode removes that cap: another playthrough posted the same day runs to 18 days.

What is the best class in Protect the Border?

Spetsnaz — 8,000 Gold, 200 HP, Groza and CZ75, per Sportskeeda's list of August 20, 2026. Juggernaut is higher at 250 HP, but the developer's pass text says it is the only class that cannot be earned with cash or gold: the 349 R$ pass is the sole way in.

What are the two currencies in Protect the Border?

Cash (green dollar figure) and Gold (gold bar), both on the bottom-right HUD and both separate scoreboard columns. Gold is the scarce one and it buys classes: on a scoreboard captured August 16, 2026 four players held 100 to 1,762 Gold against 1,875 to 4,825 Cash.
