RUNAWAYS Beginner's Guide – Vault Heists, Police Levels & the Run to Mexico
By the end of this guide you will know every RUNAWAYS control, how the rob-pawn-vault money loop actually pays, the exact checkpoint route south to the Mexican border, what police level 5 costs you, and which of the six purchasable game passes is worth Robux. Every number below comes from the live Roblox API on August 16, 2026.
What this guide covers
- Learn the seven controls before your first robbery
- Run the rob → pawn → vault money loop
- Survive the police heat scale up to level 5
- Drive the route south: Kansas → Oklahoma → Texas → Mexico
- Read the difficulty curve from real completion numbers
- Pick a vehicle pass (or skip them entirely)
RUNAWAYS [beta] is an open-world crime and escape game by supercat games (Roblox group 32943081, run by Plutonem, 28,455 members). It is the group's only public experience. The premise, in the developer's own words on the game page: you have been "found guilty of crimes you definitely committed," and your job is to rob, pawn, blow vaults and outrun police until you cross the border. It launched on April 23, 2025, was last updated on August 12, 2026, and as of August 16, 2026 it is running 21,293 concurrent players across 3,710,824 visits, with 54,457 favourites and a 93.6% approval rating (21,519 likes to 1,467 dislikes). Servers hold up to 50 players.
1. Learn the Seven Controls Before Your First Robbery
RUNAWAYS publishes its complete control scheme on the game page, and it is short enough to memorise in the lobby. There are exactly seven bindings:
| Input | Action |
|---|---|
| Click / Touch | Punch — or the equipped tool's action |
| E | Equip — or the drag action |
| X | Drop tool |
| R | Reload gun |
| Q | Attach |
| F | Inventory |
| C | Crouch / Slide |
Two of these matter more than new players expect. E doubles as the drag action, which is how bulky loot moves — you are not always picking things up into an inventory slot, sometimes you are hauling them. And X drops your tool, which sits one key away from R (reload) on the keyboard; fumbling that in a firefight is the single most common way beginners disarm themselves. The game uses R6 avatars, so hitboxes are the chunky classic ones rather than R15.
2. Run the Rob → Pawn → Vault Money Loop
The core economy is a three-stage chain the developer states plainly: rob anything in your way, pawn your loot for cash, blow open vaults. Loot is not money. Stolen goods have to be converted at a pawn buyer before they are spendable cash, which means every robbery carries a second risk window — the trip to the buyer while holding evidence.
Vaults are the top of the earning ladder, and the game tracks them with a dedicated Heist badge, awarded for breaching into a vault. It has been earned 125,299 times as of August 16, 2026 — about 9.3% of everyone who has loaded the game. That is a useful reality check: roughly nine in ten players never breach a single vault, so if you crack one you are already ahead of the median player.
How rich can you actually get? The game's rarest badge answers that. High Roller is awarded for holding $50,000 at any point during your escape, and it has been earned just 163 times — 0.012% of players, or roughly one in every 8,300. Treat $50,000 as the practical ceiling of the cash economy rather than a routine target. If you are new, the goal is not a five-figure bankroll, it is banking a modest amount and living long enough to move it south.
3. Survive the Police Heat Scale Up to Level 5
RUNAWAYS runs a wanted-level system, and the game's badges confirm its shape. Police level 5 is the highest tier the badge set tracks, and reaching it earns FDI Most Wanted — the in-game federal agency is named FDI. That badge has been awarded 29,987 times, about 2.2% of players.
Heat is not just a survival problem, it is a scoring one. There is a separate badge, Hardened Criminal, for escaping to Mexico while still at police level 5, and only 2,676 players have managed it. Set against the 9,868 who have escaped to Mexico at all, that means about 27% of successful escapes were made at maximum heat — so roughly three-quarters of players who get out do so after cooling their wanted level down first. For a beginner, that ratio is the strategy: shedding heat before the border run is the majority approach, and it is the majority approach because it works.
4. Drive the Route South: Kansas → Oklahoma → Texas → Mexico
This is the part no other RUNAWAYS resource has published, and it is the most useful thing in this guide. The escape is not a single dash to a border — it is a staged run south through three tracked state lines, each with its own checkpoint badge, ending in Mexico:
- Kansas Checkpoint — "You crossed the Kansas state line." Earned 369,106 times.
- Oklahoma Checkpoint — "You crossed the Oklahoma state line." Earned 142,800 times.
- Texas Checkpoint — "You crossed the Texas state line." Earned 67,967 times.
- International Fugitive — "You escaped to Mexico!" Earned 9,868 times.
Driving is its own tracked skill here. The Getaway Driver badge is awarded for driving 100 miles in your career — a cumulative lifetime counter, not a single run — and only 1,218 players have hit it. That number tells you something important: distance in RUNAWAYS is real, the map is long, and most players never accumulate serious mileage because they get caught first. If you enjoy the driving half of this loop more than the robbery half, Driving Empire and its best cars breakdown cover a game built entirely around it.
5. Read the Difficulty Curve From Real Completion Numbers
Because every checkpoint has a badge, we can measure exactly how brutal the run is. These are badge-award counts pulled from the Roblox badges API on August 16, 2026 — they are not a survey, an estimate, or a poll. They count how many distinct players have ever earned each badge, so the drop-off between them is the real completion funnel:
| Stage | Players | Survived from previous stage |
|---|---|---|
| Loaded the game (Welcome) | 1,352,746 | — |
| Reached Kansas | 369,106 | 27.3% |
| Reached Oklahoma | 142,800 | 38.7% |
| Reached Texas | 67,967 | 47.6% |
| Escaped to Mexico | 9,868 | 14.5% |
Two things jump out. First, the hardest single step is the last one — only 14.5% of players who make Texas ever cross into Mexico, a far steeper wall than any state line before it. Budget your resources for the final leg, not the first. Second, the middle of the run is the easiest part: once you are moving, Kansas-to-Oklahoma and Oklahoma-to-Texas convert at 38.7% and 47.6%, better odds than getting out of the starting area at all. End to end, 0.73% of players have ever escaped to Mexico — fewer than one in 135.
One badge resists analysis and we will not pretend otherwise: Anger Management, awarded 276,818 times (20.5% of players), is the only badge the developer shipped with no description at all. We do not know what triggers it, and we are not going to invent a trigger for it.

RUNAWAYS has 24 game passes, but only six are actually on sale as of August 16, 2026. The other 18 — weapon skins such as the Senso and Camo Red sets, plus the Contractor, Gang Member and Smuggler class passes — are currently switched off and cannot be bought at any price, whatever an older list may tell you. Here are the six live ones with their real prices and the stat lines the developer prints on each pass:
| Pass | Price | Speed / Accel / Handling / Armor |
|---|---|---|
| Chunk Mover | 79 R$ | 4 / 3 / 3 / 1 |
| Starter Pack | 249 R$ | Contents not listed by the developer |
| Charged | 299 R$ | 5 / 6 / 5 / 0 |
| T1000 | 799 R$ | 5 / 4 / 3 / 2 |
| Reventador | 999 R$ | 8 / 8 / 9 / 0 |
| Floppy Truck | 1,499 R$ | 4 / 7 / 4 / 4 |
The stat lines describe a clean trade-off. Reventador at 999 R$ is the outright performance pick — 8 speed, 8 acceleration and 9 handling, the highest single stat value on any live pass — but it carries 0 armor, so it is a car that wins by never being touched. Floppy Truck is the opposite philosophy and the most expensive pass in the game at 1,499 R$: 4 armor, the highest available, on a slow 4-speed frame. Given that the last leg into Mexico is the stage that kills 85.5% of the players who reach it, armor is a more defensible purchase than raw top speed for a beginner — but neither is required, and 1,218 players have driven 100 career miles without any guarantee they paid for the privilege.
Cheapest way in: Chunk Mover at 79 R$ is the only pass under 100 Robux. Be aware the Starter Pack at 249 R$ ships with an empty description — the developer does not list what is inside it, so we cannot tell you what you are buying, and we would not buy it blind either.
Does RUNAWAYS Have Codes?
No. No code redemption interface has been observed in RUNAWAYS as of August 16, 2026, and no code has been verified for it. The game's own Roblox description lists the complete seven-key control scheme with no mention of a code or redeem button, no established code tracker maintains a page for the game, and the only site publishing a "RUNAWAYS codes" page lists zero codes on it. We will not print a code table for a game we cannot confirm has a code box — you can read how that standard works on our how we verify codes page. If you want crime games that genuinely do pay out codes, Jailbreak codes, Mad City codes and Da Hood codes are all live and verified.

Frequently Asked Questions
You travel south through three state-line checkpoints the game tracks with badges — Kansas, then Oklahoma, then Texas — before crossing into Mexico. Level 5 is the highest police level the game's own badge set tracks. FDI Most Wanted is awarded for reaching police level 5 and has been earned 29,987 times, while Hardened Criminal — escaping to Mexico while still at police level 5 — has been earned only 2,676 times, as of August 16, 2026.

Coming from Jailbreak? Worth knowing that Season 33 is Jailbreak's final season, so RUNAWAYS arriving at 21,293 concurrent players in August 2026 lands at a moment when the Roblox cops-and-robbers audience is actively looking for somewhere to go.
