Throw a Coin Tier List (2026) — Best Coins & Mutations Ranked

By Money Lord — Founder & Editor | Updated: August 16, 2026

Throw a Coin is a luck simulator on Roblox where you toss coins into a magic fountain, pull items of wildly different rarity, and sell them to fund better coins and upgrades. The two things that actually decide how fast you climb are your coin (which sets your base luck) and your best mutation (which multiplies what each item sells for). This tier list ranks both, from S tier down to C tier, using the coin rarities, luck multipliers and costs verified as of August 16, 2026.

The game has passed 63.72 million visits and holds 17,245 players at once as of August 16, 2026, following the World 4 update. Scope matters here: the coin shop runs to 20 tiers, and this page ranks the first seven — the ones with luck values and costs we can actually verify. The ladder continues past Starlight into Galaxy, Void, Chronos, Eclipse, Mirage, Obsidian, Tempest, Soul, Paradox, Miracle, Nexus, Apex and Infinity; we have no verified luck figures for those, so we do not rank them rather than guessing. If you are still choosing your first upgrades, our Throw a Coin free Robux guide covers the early grind.

S Tier — Best Coins & Mutations in Throw a Coin

S tier is where the verified roster tops out. These are the strongest coins among the seven with published luck values, plus the single best mutation in the game. Reaching any of them makes everything else easier — though note the shop ladder does continue past Starlight into tiers we cannot yet put numbers on.

Starlight Coin (Cosmic)

The Starlight Coin sits at the Cosmic rarity band and gives 250x luck for $6.9 billion — the highest verified luck value on this list. It shifts your odds hard toward the rarest drops, the pool that tops out at the developers' advertised 1-in-20-quadrillion item. It is what most grinders build toward once Aether stops feeling like enough. To be clear about where it sits: Starlight is the seventh of twenty coin tiers, so it is the top of what we can verify, not the top of the shop.

Aether Coin (Mythic)

The Aether Coin is the Mythic-tier coin at 125x luck for $280 million, one step below Starlight. It is the workhorse most late-game players run while saving for the Cosmic tier, and roughly doubling Volt's luck lifts your rare-pull rate noticeably. Expensive, but it keeps high-value items flowing while you close the gap to Starlight.

Divine Mutation (120x value)

The Divine mutation is the best mutation in the game as of August 16, 2026, applying a 120x value multiplier to an item — more than a hundred times its base sale price. You earn it through the Mutation Machine: place four Astral copies of the same item in, and they combine into a Divine version at a 100% rate. It's the payoff at the end of the mutation chain, and why players hoard duplicates instead of selling on sight.

Tip: Don't sell duplicate items with a good mutation. Four matching copies feed the Mutation Machine and upgrade one rung — Big to Huge, Huge to Rainbow, and so on up to Divine. Selling them early throws away your fastest route to a 120x payout. For the full early-game order, see our Throw a Coin guide.

A Tier — Strong Picks

A tier carries you through the mid-to-late game — not the absolute best, but the upgrades that make the biggest single jump before the endgame coins come into reach.

Volt Coin (Legendary)

The Volt Coin is the Legendary-tier coin at 60x luck for $12 million, the first coin above the cash-affordable Fire Coin. Reaching it opens the higher-rarity item pools that Epic and below rarely touch — it is a two-and-a-half-times jump over Fire. Most players park here a while, stacking Luck upgrades, before affording the Mythic Aether Coin.

Fire Coin (Epic)

The Fire Coin is the Epic-tier coin at 24x luck, costing 500,000 cash or 99 Robux. It is the last coin most players buy with pure in-game money before the grind slows, and doubling Fortune's luck makes rare pulls appear regularly.

Astral Mutation

The Astral mutation is the fourth rung and the direct gateway to Divine. It boosts sale value well above Rainbow on its own, but its real worth is that four Astral copies guarantee a Divine upgrade in the Mutation Machine. Holding Astral duplicates is banking toward the best mutation in the game, which is why it lands in A tier rather than B.

B Tier — Solid Mid-Game

B tier bridges your first real luck boost into the mid-game: reliable and affordable, but outgrown once your income supports the A-tier upgrades.

Fortune Coin (Rare)

The Fortune Coin is the Rare-tier coin at 12x luck, priced at 25,000 cash or 49 Robux. It more than doubles Copper's luck and is where the Common loot pool finally loosens its grip. It pays for itself quickly through higher-value sales.

Rainbow Mutation

The Rainbow mutation is the middle of the five-step chain. It gives a healthy bump over Huge, and four Rainbow copies feed the Mutation Machine to produce an Astral — a stepping stone worth collecting rather than selling.

Huge Mutation

The Huge mutation is the second rung. You will pull it fairly often once your luck is stacked, and combining four Huge copies is the standard way to start building toward Rainbow. A dependable early boost to sale prices.

C Tier — Early or Outclassed

C tier covers the starter options. Nothing here is useless, but replace them as fast as your cash allows.

Copper Coin (Uncommon)

The Copper Coin is the Uncommon-tier coin at 5x luck, and at just 2,000 cash or 24 Robux it is the best-value purchase in the game. Grab it almost immediately. It is C tier only because you outgrow it within the first hour, not because it is a bad buy.

Big Mutation

The Big mutation is the entry rung of the chain and the foundation everything else is built on, since four Big copies combine into a Huge. The boost is small on its own, but you cannot reach Divine without passing through it.

Basic Coin (Common)

The Basic Coin is the free starter coin at 1x luck. It only pulls from the Common pool, where drops like a Rubber Duck or Soccer Ball sell for a few hundred cash each. It exists to fund your first Copper Coin.

Tip: Buy coins one tier at a time and never skip a rung. The luck jump between neighboring coins is what pays for the next purchase, and skipping leaves you throwing an underpowered coin for far longer. Stack Luck Multiplier upgrades at the Upgrades stall before Value upgrades — more rare pulls beats slightly pricier sales early on.

Full Tier List Summary Table

Here is the full ranking at a glance, with the key stat and how to get each coin or mutation. Coins are ranked by luck multiplier; mutations by their value multiplier, as of August 16, 2026. This covers the seven coin tiers with verified numbers — tiers eight through twenty (Galaxy through Infinity) are omitted because we have no confirmed luck values for them.

How We Ranked These Coins & Mutations

We ranked coins on two verified fields: their rarity band (Common through Cosmic) and their luck multiplier. All seven ranked coins now have published multipliers — Basic (1x), Copper (5x), Fortune (12x), Fire (24x), Volt (60x), Aether (125x) and Starlight (250x) — so each is placed on its exact number rather than on its band. We do not invent numbers we cannot verify, which is why the thirteen higher coin tiers are named but left unranked.

Mutations are ranked by their value multiplier and place in the upgrade chain. Divine tops the list at a confirmed 120x, and each lower rung — Astral, Rainbow, Huge, Big — is ranked by how many combine steps separate it from Divine. Since every mutation feeds the next through the Mutation Machine, the chain order doubles as the tier order.

Prices, luck values and the mutation chain were re-checked against community guides and the in-game shop on August 16, 2026. The developer, The BEST group yet!, rebalances costs and adds worlds over time: World 4 went live on August 9, 2026 as UPD 6 and rotated the game's entire code list, retiring WORLD3 along with BIGBANG and candy. A further event is dated for August 23, 2026, so we will re-verify this page after it lands. One claim we deliberately left out: a single source describes a "Zeus Coin" at a "Promethean" rarity as the strongest coin, but no other source or wiki lists it, so we treat it as unconfirmed rather than ranking it.

Tip: Pair this tier list with our Throw a Coin hub for the current update and every guide in one place, and check the verified list on our Throw a Coin codes page before trusting any code list — World 4 rotated every code on August 9, 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best coin in Throw a Coin?

Of the seven coin tiers with verified luck values, the Starlight Coin is the strongest as of August 16, 2026: Cosmic rarity, 250x luck, $6.9 billion. The Aether Coin (Mythic, 125x, $280 million) is the next best if you can't yet afford it. Note the shop ladder runs to 20 tiers in total, so Starlight is the top of what we can verify rather than the last coin in the game.

What is the best mutation in Throw a Coin?

Divine is the best mutation as of August 16, 2026, applying a 120x value multiplier to an item — the highest in the game. It never drops naturally from the fountain: you get it by placing four Astral copies of the same item into the Mutation Machine, which upgrades them to Divine at a 100% rate.

Are there any Throw a Coin codes?

Yes — four work as of August 16, 2026, redeemed through the Codes box at the bottom of the Shop menu. Be careful with older lists: the World 4 update on August 9, 2026 rotated the code list completely, so WORLD3 no longer works. The current codes hand out mutated items. Full list and redemption steps are on our Throw a Coin codes page.

To climb the ladder itself: sell every item you pull at the Sell stall, then buy the next coin tier in order at the coin shop near the fountain. Buy one tier at a time rather than skipping, and stack Luck upgrades before Value upgrades.

Your coin sets your luck and your best mutation sets your income, so push the next coin tier first and bank matching duplicates for the Mutation Machine. We re-verify this page with every major patch — next check is after the August 23, 2026 event. For more, visit the Throw a Coin hub or cross-check values against the community Throw a Coin wiki.
