Squid Game X Beginner Guide (2026) — Start Here
Squid Game X is an 80-player elimination game from the Roblox group redifi, live since September 24, 2021 and sitting on 2.18 billion visits and 1.78 million favourites as of September 4, 2026. You load into a lobby, a sequence of minigames runs, and the people who survive split the cash.
It is still one of the busiest survival games on the platform. Across September 1–4, 2026 our radar logged a median of 14,224 concurrent players, moving between roughly 8,100 in the quiet 07:30 UTC hour and 17,220 in the afternoon. This page covers the round order, how the money actually works, and the ten things that get new players eliminated in their first hour.
What this guide covers
Your First 30 Minutes
Do these five things before you worry about winning anything. They cost nothing and two of them pay out every single day you log in.
- Join the redifi group. The in-game description says group membership grants the FAN chat tag plus bonus daily rewards. The group had 4,384,862 members as of September 4, 2026 and entry is open, so it is a click.
- Claim the daily reward before you queue. It runs on a seven-day cycle and resets. The standard track is $100, a free Guard use, $300, a Rare Crate, a free Frontman use, a Legendary Crate, then another free Guard use.
- Redeem the codes. The redeem box sits on the left edge of the screen behind the bird icon. Our Squid Game X codes list keeps the working ones sorted from the dead ones.
- Open the Shop and find the upgrades menu. Boosts live inside it, they are permanent, and each one can be raised five times.
- Play one full match before buying anything. Rolimon's puts the average session at 8.92 minutes, so a full run is a short investment.
Spend nothing in the crate shop on day one. Crates are cosmetic and nothing more.
Core Mechanics Explained
Rounds and elimination
A match is a chain of minigames. Red Light, Green Light opens almost every run, the Glass Bridge is the penultimate game, and the Squid Game itself closes it out — the community wiki calls it the hardest of the set and says the total reward lands when you finish it. Night Brawl is the odd one out: it has no fixed slot and can drop in anywhere between the Glass Bridge and Red Light, Green Light.
Rebellion is tied to Night Brawl, with the wiki listing a 30% chance of it following. Everything else runs in sequence, so once you recognise a mode you know roughly where you are in the match.
How many modes there actually are
The dev-written game description lists fifteen entries: Red Light, Green Light · Honeycomb · Pentathlon · Hide & Seek (Keys & Knives) · Jump Rope · Sky Squid · Mingle · Night Brawl · Rebellion · Tug of War · Marbles · Rock, Paper, Scissors Minus One · Glass Bridge · Final Dinner · Squid Game. The community wiki's numbered list runs to fourteen, because Final Dinner has not been added there yet.
One thing worth getting right: Rock, Paper, Scissors Minus One is a single mode, not two. Both the description and the wiki treat it as one entry, and counting it as two is how guides end up quoting sixteen modes.
Cash and crates
The wiki's Gamemodes page states you earn $25 for each round you win, on top of the total reward paid out at the end of a match. That is the whole economy for a new player. Crates are bought in the lobby with that cash at $50 for a Common, $150 Rare, $300 Epic, $500 Legendary and $500 for a Mask.
Crates hand out clothing and masks for the outfit editor. The wiki is blunt that this is purely cosmetic, so treat them as a reward for having cash rather than a use for it.
Roles, seasons and the like-milestone codes
You are not always a contestant. Guard and Frontman turns exist, and the daily reward track hands out free uses of both on days two, five and seven. The Frontman badge has been handed to 7,356,737 accounts since it went live on January 17, 2025, so plenty of people get a turn without buying anything.
The description is headed SEASON 3 and stamped V11.0.0, and it promises a new code at each like milestone. The game sat on 1,459,189 likes on September 4, 2026 while the description still advertised the $1.2M code and pointed at 1.4M likes as the next target — a threshold it has already crossed. Check our codes page rather than the description if you want the current list.
10 Beginner Mistakes to Avoid
Each of these comes from a mechanic documented somewhere other than an in-game tooltip. The first five cost you rounds.
- Freezing at the first gunshot in Red Light, Green Light. A hit is not instant death. The wiki says you can be shot three times before elimination, and each hit costs you speed — so a first hit is a reason to slow down, not to panic.
- Waiting out the Glass Bridge. Hanging back to watch other players is fine until the clock runs out, and anyone who has not reached the far side by the time limit is eliminated regardless.
- Stalling in Marbles. If neither player has cleared the other out when time expires, the winner is chosen at random. Playing for the clock is a coin flip.
- Expecting quick knockouts in Night Brawl. The punch tool does 2 damage per hit. It used to do 5, and the wiki says it was cut specifically so more people survive.
- Picking a Pentathlon minigame you have never played. Your team of five has three minutes total, and missing the deadline eliminates all five of you, not just the person who stalled.
The other five are about the meta rather than the rounds.
- Buying crates before boosts. Cosmetic, no function, and a Legendary costs $500 — twenty round wins.
- Skipping the group join. Group members get a second daily-reward track that is four Legendary Crates and two Epics across one seven-day cycle.
- Assuming you can see the safe glass. Only the Glass Maker gets the tampered tiles highlighted in red, one is picked at the start of every match, and that highlight only matters if they survive far enough to use it.
- Dawdling in Mingle. You get 30 seconds per round to form a group of the called size, sizes run from one to four people, and there are three rounds of it.
- Treating the DevForum log or the "(NEW)" tags as current. Both are stale, as covered above. The Roblox game page's own mode list is the freshest dev-written source.
Best Starter Strategy
Your first few matches are about knowing what each round asks for. Here is what the early modes actually test, drawn from the community wiki's per-mode pages rather than from guesswork.
Red Light, Green Light
You have two minutes to cross the field and pass the line. The doll calls red light on its own schedule, and moving during it gets you shot. Three hits is the elimination threshold and every hit slows you down, so if you take one early you may not have the speed left to finish in time.
Pentathlon
The wiki calls this one of two possible second games, with a 75% chance of appearing. You form a team of five by standing on a coloured section — there are eight teams — and each player claims one of five minigames: Ddakji, Flying Stone, Gonggi, Spinning Top and Jegi. Three of those five are timing-bar games where you stop or release a moving line on a green zone, so if you are new, call one of those.
Honeycomb
You drag a cube along the outline of a shape. The shape pool is Square, Triangle, Star, Circle and Umbrella, and since the 4.0 revamp the game draws in the path you have already traced, which makes the star and umbrella far more manageable than they look.
Mingle
Mingle can turn up as the third game. Three rounds, 30 seconds each, and a called group size somewhere between one and four. Stand near the middle of the room instead of the walls, because the number changes every round and you want to reach any forming group quickly.
Tug of War
Ignore anything you have read about spam-clicking. The current version splits players into two equal teams, yellow and green, and asks you to hold click to push a line forward and release to let it fall back, keeping it inside a moving highlighted zone — the same input as the Jegi minigame in Pentathlon. The wiki notes the older click-a-button versions were removed after player feedback.
Marbles and the Glass Bridge
Marbles pairs you against one opponent. You each start with ten colour-coded marbles and take turns kicking the other player's out of the square, so open aggressively. The Glass Bridge is ten rows deep with exactly one safe tile per row, which is where the Glass Inspect boost and the Glass Maker role earn their keep.
When to Spend Robux (and When Not To)
Squid Game X had ten game passes on sale as of September 4, 2026, running from 75 Robux for More Quests up to 2,499 Robux for Permanent Frontman. The full price walk-through lives in our Squid Game X Robux guide, and the S-to-C ranking of upgrades and passes is in the Squid Game X tier list.
The one thing worth knowing before you open the shop is that boosts do not require Robux at all. The wiki records that each of the seven boosts — Sprint, Damage, Guard Earnings, Glass Inspect, Tug of War Skill, Health and Jump — can be upgraded five times using either 100 Robux or in-game money. Round wins pay $25 each, so the patient route is real.
If you do spend, spend on information rather than stats. Glass Maker at 649 Robux is the only pass that changes what you can see during a round; VIP sits at 349. Everything above 1,000 Robux is a permanent role, and the daily reward track already hands out free Guard and Frontman turns each week.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Across September 1–4, 2026 the game held a median of 14,224 concurrent players, ranging from roughly 8,100 to 17,220 depending on the hour, and it has passed 2.18 billion lifetime visits. The Roblox API shows the experience was last updated on August 30, 2026.
The developer's own game description lists fifteen entries, including Final Dinner. The community wiki's numbered list runs to fourteen because Final Dinner has not been added there. Both sources treat Rock, Paper, Scissors Minus One as one mode rather than two, so any guide quoting sixteen has split it.
You get $25 for every round you win, plus a total reward paid at the end of the match. On top of that, the seven-day daily reward cycle pays $100 on day one and $300 on day three, and hands out crates and free Guard and Frontman uses on the other days.
It is a chat tag granted for joining redifi, the Roblox group that develops the game. The group had 4,384,862 members as of September 4, 2026 and allows open entry, and membership also unlocks the second daily reward track of Rare, Epic and Legendary crates.
No. All seven boosts can be upgraded with in-game money instead of Robux, and round wins pay $25 each. The only pass that changes information rather than statistics is Glass Maker at 649 Robux, which reveals the tampered tiles on the Glass Bridge.
Roblox badge counts give the curve. 297.9 million accounts hold First Time Played, 86.1 million hold 5 Wins, 43.1 million hold 10 Wins and 2.54 million hold 100 Wins — about one player in seven reaches ten, and fewer than one in a hundred reaches a hundred. The badges never define whether a win is a round or a whole match, so read them as a progression curve.
How We Checked This
Player counts, visits, votes, badges and pass prices were pulled live from the Roblox API on September 4, 2026 and cross-checked against Rolimon's. Mechanics come from the dev-written description on the Squid Game X Roblox page and the community wiki, whose Gamemodes page was last substantively edited on August 19, 2025 and restored from vandalism on April 26, 2026. The DevForum update log was read and dated, not used. The developers may adjust any of this in a future patch.
