Search For The Needle Beginner’s Guide – Cash vs Gems, All 8 Class Odds & the Basement Key
Which currency actually matters, the upgrade order that cuts a first clear to minutes, what the Vacuum really costs, all eight class roll chances, how to get the Key out of the Chapter 2 basement, and what every pass charges.

Learn the loop: flakes → cow → Cash
[👽] Search For The Needle is universe 10756011174, root place 77108422251420, published by the group Garage Games (group 279288859, owner vice_DEV) on August 23, 2026. Roblox files it under Simulation → Incremental Simulator, 20 players per server. The description promises Search through the Hay · Find the hidden Needle · Beat your best time — and the third is the real game.
Click to pick up hay flakes (left mouse button; WASD to move, Spacebar to jump). Flakes fill a capacity-limited bag; feed a full bag to the cow for Cash, which buys upgrades and tools that strip hay faster. Clear the pile, take the needle, and you are paid Gems plus your completion time (Sportskeeda, Swapnil Joshi, September 3, 2026).
Two wrinkles: rainbow hay flakes glow, count as multiple flakes and sell for double; Diamonds are a separate collectible inside the hay that one class farms.
Buy upgrades in this order, then the tools
The biggest beginner mistake is saving for the Pitchfork immediately. Sportskeeda’s opening order cuts walking, not hay:
- Hold first. Holding the mouse instead of clicking each flake is the largest single change to your pick-up rate, and cheap.
- Two levels each into Grasp and Speed. Grasp widens each pick-up; Speed shortens the trip.
- Then the Dynamite — a stepping stone that clears enough hay per charge to fund the Pitchfork faster.
- Then the Pitchfork, the finisher. Surplus Cash goes into its upgrade levels.
- Upgrade the bag at the shed when affordable. Expensive and infrequent, but every level cuts return trips.
All Things How (Ivaan Mehta, September 6, 2026) gives a different order tuned to explosives: Speed to level 2 → one level of Lucky Blast → Power maxed → finish Speed. They disagree because they optimise different tools — but Speed is the one upgrade both put early.
It also times a clear: solo with the bomb pass, 6–10 minutes; without, 9–13; four players on one pile, around 2. Joining a busy 20-player server is the cheapest speed upgrade in the game.
Exactly three tools are purchasable in a run: Dynamite, Pitchfork and Vacuum. The Vacuum costs 69.99 Cash, and Sportskeeda flags it — on a first clear you will not reach 69.99 before the Pitchfork finishes the job. The Hay Drone is not bought with Cash at all: it comes only from a permanent pass or the Drone Specialist class.
Spend Gems on class rolls — all eight odds
Gems compound. They pay out for clearing the pile, carry into the lobby, and buy class rolls at 40 Gems each plus permanent stat upgrades — the only purchase not deleted when a round ends.
Free Gem income is small. All Things How (Reyaan Verma, September 2, 2026) gives the login track as an eight-day cycle: +10 on day 1, +120 on day 2, +50 on each of days 3–7, +500 on day 8 — 880 Gems per cycle, exactly 22 rolls — plus a one-off 25 Gems for liking the game and joining the group. Codes are the other free source; our Search For The Needle codes page owns that list.
Classes are a gacha, not a shop: you spin at the Classes booth in the lobby near spawn. Sportskeeda’s class rundown (September 5, 2026) notes each chance is printed under its name inside the menu; Beebom (Ishan Adhikary, September 11, 2026) reproduces the same eight figures.
| Class | Roll chance | What it actually does |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | 40% | The default class. No bonuses at all. |
| Pack Mule | 25% | Carry capacity +50% in every bag. |
| Hay Merchant | 14% | Money earned from selling hay +20%. |
| Forkmaster | 9% | Pitchfork swings collect 25% more hay; Pitchfork upgrades cost 25% less. |
| Demolitionist | 7% | Dynamite blast radius +20%, plus a 10% chance TNT splits into three mini-charges. |
| Prospector | 3.9% | Diamonds appear 50% more often, and hay can transform into Diamonds. |
| Drone Specialist | 1% | You always own a Drone; it flies 30% faster and carries 40% more hay. Occasional three-drone swarm. |
| Ultimate Farmer | 0.1% | Every other class’s bonus at once, and periodically triggers Golden Harvest. |
Sanity check: those sum to exactly 100.0 — fabricated odds tables rarely do. In practice four rolls in ten return Starter, the class you already have, and 0.1% implies an average of about 1,000 rolls, roughly 40,000 Gems, per Ultimate Farmer. No source documents a pity system.
Clear Chapter 2: the Key, levers and puzzles
Chapter 2 swaps the needle for a Key, and finding it is not enough. TechWiser’s walkthrough (Adhiraj Yadav, September 10, 2026) gives three objectives.
- Find the Key in the haystack. Mechanically identical to the needle hunt. Dynamite and the Vacuum shift bulk hay fastest, so this is where 69.99 Cash justifies itself.
- Pull all three levers. Green behind the haystack near the boxes; Red near the Sell Hay cart, behind the board; Purple beside the Alien’s Jail. All three open the secret puzzle room.
- Solve three puzzles inside. Count the red, green and purple crystals in the room’s walls; enter a keypad code written on papers around the map; unscramble a 16-piece picture.
- Escape. That frees the Alien and drops the red laser traps blocking the ladder. Equip the Key and climb to the Basement door; in the cutscene the freed Alien points at a UFO.
What people get wrong: the Key opens the trapdoor, but the lasers stop you reaching it. Pull levers while crossing the map for hay. The Finished Chapter 2! badge (“You found the key and escaped the basement!”) was created September 5, 2026 and had 1,038,724 awards on September 12, 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions
Cash is per-run, Gems are permanent. Cash comes from feeding hay flakes to the cow and funds bag capacity, the Grasp, Speed, Hold, Power and Lucky Blast upgrades and the three tools — all of it resets when the run ends. Gems are paid for clearing the pile and by the eight-day login track, and buy class rolls at 40 Gems each plus permanent stat upgrades in the lobby.
0.1% per roll. Sportskeeda’s September 5, 2026 rundown lists all eight chances as printed in the in-game Classes menu: Starter 40%, Pack Mule 25%, Hay Merchant 14%, Forkmaster 9%, Demolitionist 7%, Prospector 3.9%, Drone Specialist 1%, Ultimate Farmer 0.1% — summing to exactly 100%. At 40 Gems a roll that implies an average of about 1,000 rolls, roughly 40,000 Gems, per Ultimate Farmer. No source documents a pity system.
You need the Key and the lasers off — the Key alone is not enough. TechWiser (September 10, 2026) lists three objectives: dig the Key from the haystack; pull three levers (Green behind the haystack near the boxes, Red near the Sell Hay cart behind the board, Purple beside the Alien’s Jail next to the Drone equipment); then solve the three puzzles in the room they open — count the red, green and purple crystals in its walls, enter a keypad code found on papers around the map, and unscramble a 16-piece picture. That drops the lasers; equip the Key and climb.
About This Guide
Written September 12, 2026 for universe 10756011174, root place 77108422251420. Stats, passes, prices, badge counts and group membership were read from Roblox’s games, votes, badges, groups and game-pass endpoints at 08:10 UTC. Mechanics come from dated, independently owned guides: Sportskeeda (September 3 and 5, 2026), All Things How (September 2 and 6) and TechWiser (September 10); Beebom reproduces the same class figures on September 11. Roblox’s virtual-events endpoint errored on ten consecutive polls that morning, so the Chapter 2 date comes from badge and pass creation timestamps. Nothing here was tested by us in-game. We publish no UFO route and no class-luck multiplier — the only pages carrying those are AI-farm “wiki” domains on our never-cite list. Method: how we verify.
